FWR (as I still think of it) is a very important corner of the Internet.

I read here almost daily, and the amount of information here is incredible - evidence, links to articles, tweets, feminist analysis, philosophical conversations, academic studies, court cases, judicial reviews, updates on previous cases... the list goes on and on. Personally it takes me time to keep up, let alone feel brave enough to comment Smile

At this time of the year, especially, I just thought it would be nice to create a little thread to say thank you to all the regular contributers from the ones like me, who read but rarely post. Thanks for the information, the wisdom, the challenging discussions and all the lovely dinosaur names!

Hopefully some more lurkers will join me so I'm not left languishing on this thread alone!

Thanks All, and lang may yer lum reek! Xmas Smile

Grateful lurker here.. and I’ve taken some small steps from here into my old career in teaching and a recent career change xx

EnamelWoman · 23/12/2021 20:48

Thank you to all the amazingly articulate posters who have helped me think more deeply about the environment my children are growing up in. I am hoping I will be able to move from quietly signing petitions / donating money to being able to discuss the issues more openly, and with good evidence to back up my points - this board is hugely helping my progress with this

Thethingswedoforlove · 23/12/2021 21:02

A huge thank you from me too

TinselAngel · 23/12/2021 21:18

You should all make a new year's resolution to post more Smile

Wauden · 23/12/2021 21:43

Thank you FWR for articulating common sense.

RabbitOfCaerbannog · 23/12/2021 21:47

❤️

Billy310 · 23/12/2021 22:06

I’m a lurker and glad to delurk to add my voice to the vote of thanks. Living outside UK, this board has been my window into this issue (things are in a different situation here), and helps me feel ready to give answers when the questions inevitably arise here. I will continue to read and learn with gratitude.

SphincterSaysWhat · 23/12/2021 22:20

Thank you sisters x

BessieBraddockAliasThorne · 23/12/2021 23:42

Yet another lurker here to say a heartfelt thankyou to the amazing women who are much braver than me. Thought I was pretty fearless and outspoken on politics until it came to this. I felt like I was going mad because people were wanting me to believe things that I know aren't true. Very similar feeling to being in an abusive relationship. Will try to be braver next year, thanks for the inspiration all of you xx

LilyRed · 24/12/2021 00:50

Thank you to all the brave GC women of mumsnet who have taught me such a lot over the last few - err, several actually! years - I owe you so much. Thank you for your wisdom and inspiration.

ErrolTheDragon · 24/12/2021 01:28

It's a bit late for many of us this evening but I'd like to extend a warm welcome to all lurkers (and the rest Grin) to the Bluestocking pub. It's been quiet there for a while but it's definitely open for Christmas!

Eightmagpies · 24/12/2021 06:08

And me! Thank you Xmas Smile

HashtagLurky · 24/12/2021 07:16

Massive lurker here. Thank you for my daily fix of sanity and clear-eyed arguments. I work in the very wokest environment and this place is a godsend.

RVN123 · 24/12/2021 07:26

Not really a lurker anymore - Mumsnet and the amazing women on this board have given me the courage and knowledge to speak out here and also in real life.
This really was the year I woke up.
I hope the lurkers that have popped their heads above the parapet here to say hello, will continue to come back and take part in the discussions. We need more voices.
We need sunlight.
We need truth.

Merry Christmas to all these strong women.

Calyx72 · 24/12/2021 07:27

Thanks to you all, I also come straight here when I read or hear things on Twitter and I love your analysis and the discussions.

I also love the support and digging for GC cases and causes.

You are all brilliant Smile

Blessex · 24/12/2021 08:02

Yes a lurker here who is late to this. Got very angry mid year and started roaring your messages on my social media. Many women have been grateful - have been blocked by one friend with zero question (which says it all really) - and will continue to lurk and learn. Thank you

Yesterdaysleftovers · 24/12/2021 09:08

Thanks and Merry Christmas from a serial lurker!

Distractable · 24/12/2021 10:11

Big thanks from me too. I lurk frequently and have learnt so much. I am always pointing people here and wish that more people read Mumsnet to find out about what women's lives are like.

TofuDelights · 24/12/2021 11:45

This has been an awesome thread, I didn't expect so many replies, thanks everyone! And yes, Tinsel, you're right - we all should.

Merry Christmas 🎄

Many thanks from me too! 😊

Theeyeballsinthesky · 24/12/2021 12:03

Awwww this is the best thread

Happy Christmas one and all

fulanigirl · 24/12/2021 12:11

Another lurker here, thank you! I have learnt so much here that I'm able to have discussions about this with my family. I'm hoping with more discussions my 16 year old sister will grow up and form her own opinions instead of repeating everything she reads on Twitter.

J0sephineMarch · 24/12/2021 12:40

Hi all, I used to post on Mumsnet a lot but got fed up with the moderation, so after too many [patronising] warnings I left.

But I never stopped lurking, and for a time, posted many many comments in the Times. Always informed in large part by what I have learned here. Thank you so much.
Mumsnet Feminism Chat gave me a voice for my unease about the lauding of Caitlyn Jenner, and then later, when the issue of gender ideology and children came to me, most unexpectedly at work, it gave me support when I thought the world was entirely losing its mind.

I will dereg. again now because online is not good for my mental health, but I won't be shutting up. Everything I learned on here helps me to talk to people I know, write to MPs and Members of the House of Lords, fill in Consultations, sign petitions and donate money to the brilliant individuals and organisations that are beginning to have an effect. I am sure there are many people like me out there - going to meetings and writing to people.
I hope that in 2022 I will get the guts to do some Direct Actions. I think it may be the moment.
Thank you again. You helped me understand why we need feminism. You helped me assert myself.

lostonadustyrock · 24/12/2021 12:43

Yes, thank you. I've learned a lot in here and it's motivated me to think more critically about what I'm seeing in the news.

NancyBot · 24/12/2021 12:50

Thanks from me too, a long time lurker.
