“The women were at the bottom of the run-up holding up 'Save Women’s Sports' banners and they were targeting the women who are known transgender athletes. They were getting really loud and agro when these athletes were [racing] by, and they were on a part of the course where riders would pass by a few times, because it was a section of the course that looped back on itself. They had signs and they were putting them in [the athletes’] faces and shouting. There was also a group standing at a more distant part of the course with a large flag that they were waving onto the course, in addition to signage, and they were actively trying to disrupt and target individuals that were racing,” Cameron

@CatsOperatingInGangs

At the other end of the cycling spectrum I noted several people with female names competing in a recent British University (BUSC??) mens race. No protesters about that, no uproar and seemingly no issue from the other men in that category with men who identify as women. Isn’t that real inclusion?
If you were looking at the BUCS hill climb from last month then I only spotted one - and that’s the usual suspect. Some of the unisex names (Erin, Jean) are men.

Interestingly, the top placed female came 84th overall, and at 2:48.67 was 35 minutes behind the winner.

Dear Godddd!!! Are we really, in 20 fucking 21, at the point, when a man says he is a woman, competes in the women's category, and then gets fucked off because he can't compete in the men's because he says he's a woman??

What the fucking hell is wrong with people?? It's collective insanity.

This quote by Molly "... This is a long conversation but how do they not see how damaging this is to cycling’s credibility?”

Honestly, I have no words.

I wonder if the rules are different in Europe? I mean in fairness it seems (according to Wiki) that Molly prefers to compete in the men's sport rather than the women's. It might make international competition more difficult for her as women's cyclo-cross is really well supported across Europe and dominated by Dutch women.
I guess it just goes to show having an 'open' category would work for some trans athletes at least.

And when the individual threads of what is being said makes no rational sense, and seem to be conflicting with each other, the usual psychology is to take a step back and look instead for the overarching need or belief that all these muddled, conflicting claims are serving. That's the point of consistency that makes the speaker feel it all makes sense.

In this case it would seem to be a desire to do what they want, when they want, as they want, regardless of anyone else. It's the whole 'I hate boundaries' thing.
