This is a share token so you can read the story. Another Janice Turner article. Simone suggested Crowdfunding for her new company.

Rosie Kay: I resigned from my own dance company after I was accused of transphobia

You must be so embarrassed that your daughter threw away such a wonderful opportunity with such entitlement and lack of grace. And of course that she ruined another woman's livelihood. Hopefully she'll grow up soon though.

Abhannmor · 08/05/2022 20:27

Ugh...I had quite forgotten these pampered little micro bullies. Is there something coming down the track? A tribunal or court case perhaps

Waitwhat23 · 08/05/2022 20:41

I'm taking a guess that the resurrection of this piece is related to the event tomorrow night - I've booked my ticket and am looking forward to it. It's just bizarre that over indulged adults with an agenda can set out to destroy a woman's company and livelihood because of their adherence to an ideology. I can't imagine the instigators will be viewed favourably by any future employer.

In the future, I hope every person who participated into trying to bring about an authoritarian hellscape has their moment of realisation and apologises to those they have hurt and attempts reparations.

As Mr Justice Julian Knowles, put it:

“In this country we have never had a Cheka, a Gestapo or a Stasi. We have never lived in an Orwellian society.”

Despite the recent commenter and her daughter, I hope this continues to be true.

I just noticed a thing:

olzdee wrote "If you had bothered to actually see the production you would have seen how she brought classically trained excellence to the show."

I thought that the sabotage had happened before the show was put on, and it was cancelled. So how would we have been able actually to see the production?

Peregrina · 08/05/2022 21:19

We have to be vigilant though - we can see how easily it could happen.
Someone - (was it this thread?) referred to McCarthyism, which ruined many an American's life in the early 1950s.

Good spot Detective!

Maybe the poster is just identifying as a parent?

Peregrina · 08/05/2022 21:22

BTW I didn't mean that to read as 'We must pretend that transwomen are biological women.'

CuntAmongstThePigeons · 08/05/2022 21:28

Oh yes Embarrassing. Top on that list is little OJ. I live in hope.

This is the link to the event BTW.

And thanks, Oldzee, for reminding everyone about this awful thing that happened to a very talented choreographer.

You are insulting my daughter. A girl who has devoted nearly every minute of her life to her craft. When other kids were out playing she practiced and studied dance. A girl who at 14 won a scholarship to any top tier Dance school. If you had bothered to actually see the production you would have seen how she brought classically trained excellence to the show. She simply defended the rights of trans people. She always has stuck up for people. If you knew her you would not call her anything but an outstanding and kind person.

There’s a difference between standing up for something you believe in and imposing your ‘one true belief’ on others and silencing all opposition.

If a religious person had bulldozed their way through the company refusing to touch or lift women or insisting on massive changes in language, dress and protocols, I don’t think you would be happy if they were the only one allowed an opinion.

This is all new niche terms and beliefs. The least they could have done is sit down and discussed the preferred terms etc calmly and equally and come to a mutual and workable agreement.

WandaWomblesaurus · 08/05/2022 23:36

@WalrusSubmarine
This is such a good point too - that the memo about all the different new terminology was never circulated amongst anyone - before women started to be bullied and harassed for thinking - having questions - having worries.

Misgendered.
Non Binary

These words meant nothing to most people until a couple of years ago.

Hell, they still mean nothing to most people now.
Until the person says the wrong thing and then suddenly they are losing their job.

Kind my arse.

theemperorhasnoclothes · 09/05/2022 00:02

Kind my arse.

Well, quite, but you have to remember these people are keen on self-IDing as kind but that is different from actually being kind.

Deeds not words.

In fact I'm beginning to believe that when someone 'self identifies' as something and goes on and on about how they identify then in most cases the reality is almost always the complete opposite of what they ID as.

Being 'kind' (not to women or children), being 'inclusive' (excluding women and girls) and so on.

If you're actually kind, you don't have to tell people about it because it's obvious.

I personally self identify as a 20 year old fit and healthy millionaire.

Little Sunday Ballet classes strikes a discordant note with me too. As does the claim “A girl who had at 14 won a scholarship to any top tier dance school”.

Do dance schools not manage their own admissions/scholarships?

Helleofabore · 09/05/2022 08:29

Maybe olzdee doesn’t really know their daughter anymore really, if their daughter is now the NB female dancer who complained.

She always got on well with any of her Instructors.

Sure. Until she was misgendered, then she could claim discrimination and harassment for being misgendered. For hearing about vaginas and penises while dictating to that person that they cannot use the usual terms.

While that person is trying to convey their, as they choreographer and the person’s who name is selling the tickets to the show based on their reputation, interpretation or Orlando.

What is going to happen next time your daughter gets a choreographer who is not up to date with new pronouns? How many choreographers will your daughter have complaints against before you understand that your daughter was out of line here?

She is shy and would not have made an issue out of nothing.

I have covered the proportionality here up thread. So, misgendering was worth losing a business over?

She is the opposite to the type of person you describe.

Maybe you need to reconcile that your daughter’s personality has changed as a NB female, if she was that dancer?

A hard working down to earth dancer.

I would not describe the female NB dancer in this case as down to earth. Quite the opposite.

Almost like a different person.

NotAGirl · 11/05/2022 08:31

olzdee if as I suspect your nb offspring is now unemployable after harassing Rosie Kay and bringing down the dance company you’d be better having a wee word with your nb offspring about not being an attention seeking pain in the arse rather than remonstrating with us. Their name is out there and takes seconds to identify them.

Oh and I’d watch your misgendering, its literal violence didn’t you know

ExMachinaDeus · 11/05/2022 20:38

She simply defended the rights of trans people. She always has stuck up for people.

But not the woman whose artistry, talent, experience and hard work throughout her career provided your daughter with the opportunity to dance?

Your daughter and her colleagues are now out of work. Poetic justice, really. Biting off the hand that feeds them, and so on.

Your daughter and her colleagues have taken a disagreement in personal views (which everyone is entitled to have), and used it to destroy a working dance company. Such kindness and bravery
