I know that it is scattered all over, it just seems to be extra-concentrated in Brighton.

I have just read this article and it is damming. The one place that decent people would agree should still have single sex spaces is being taken over by people so desperate to be on the right side of history that they have ignored the real plight of the majority who use these services.

Of course others should have access to such services and clearly do, but their experience will be so different from that of a woman, why is that so difficult to comprehend?

I am so sad and frustrated that that there is a legal right to single sex spaces for this kind of support but it is not acted upon. Women’s needs are being sacrificed for the sake of ‘the most vulnerable evah!/TWAW’ ideology.

It would be good if it could be acknowledged by some of the many people advocating for the inclusion of transwomen in women's spaces that they understand why a rape victim may wish a male-free space.

What I always find hard to get a grip on, with these increasingly common scenarios, is how the people who provide the counselling (who must, surely, consider themselves to be empathetic) just refuse to put themselves in (at least some of) their clients’ shoes and do what is totally within their power to mitigate the problem.

They are legally protected too - it’s not even as if there’ll be (legal) sanctions imposed on them for ensuring women are accommodated by their services.

It could only happen, Pater, if they put the feelings of transwoman above those of the women. Clearly there is a need for services for both.

The biological male who runs the Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre also wants to educate tramatised women 'out of their bigotry'. This bigotry is manifested by e.g. wanting to be examined and counselled by women.

It's not only insane, it's utterly cruel.

Sarah you are an incredibly brave woman and I have nothing but respect for you, this must have been so horribly difficult and painful, I'm so glad you spoke up. Thank you for your courage.

The fact that there are facilities for these others - where they could meet similar people with similar life history (so a better healing space) - yet they are allowed (welcomed and focussed on seemingly) to be where they can cause harm to women who are not allowed anywhere else to go. Are the people who run these centres on Brighton bereft of empathy or common decency? To deny these women a place?

I will be taking it to work this week and making sure we have a full and frank discussion about how we (a loosely affiliated group of independent community charities including refuge services) will deal with this.

Currently we have resolutely single sex and openly mixed groups. If I have anything to do with it it will stay like that. Your story should help.

But you REALLY shouldn't have had to go through that. It is ludicrous. There aren't words for how stupid, silly, thoughtless, 'woke' that organisation is.

All women are asking for is in addition to all the trans specially specific, LGBT+ specially specific, men specially specific, and mixed sex women's inclusive groups - that females who cannot access any of these are permitted one solitary single female only group.

And males and their allies, who have ensured all this absolute choice and respect for male choices and are so inclusive? Say no.

Female needs cannot be met because males say no.

Once again a story that is shocking but not surprising. Thank you @IamSarah for bringing this awful scenario to the media.
