Well, sort of. I've come to the end of my time on MN. I've been here under various names for the best part of two decades, and it's been transformational. I've met some of my best friends, received great advice about raising my kids, dealing with abuse, and most of all, shifted from being a mousey submissive wife Christian into a complete gobshite feminist lesbian.

I haven't been a regular for quite some time. I'm active and busy doing other things tbh. But I do occasionally pop in to see what's what. The past few times reminded me why I stopped visiting that much in the first place. I am often deleted now, and the feeling of walking on eggshells in case I'm reported by TRAs is no less unpleasant now than it was when this was the only platform available to talk about women's rights, albeit in a highly controlled manner.

It's not the only platform anymore, not by a very long way, so I'm making the decision to not submit to that feeling ever again. So, sort of flounce, yes, but mostly it's a fond farewell to the many women whom I've been helped by on MN and FWR whom I don't know offline. Keep speaking up in your own sphere, be more JKR, be more Magdalen, be anonymous and know that whatever you do makes a difference.

Women and girls matter, including you, so take good care of yourself.

Sincerely wims, go well.

You will be missed. I am considering my urge to continue posting here too. Stuck between giving up because of the ever restrictive nature of the place and it being a space to at least be able to start a conversation - even if finishing it gets deleted too often.

Go well. Feel wlecome to change your mind and come back after a MN holiday Smile

DinoDinner · 23/11/2021 11:49

Don't leave!!! Don't let them win!

Plus you're being unreasonable as there is a Flouncers Corner thread ;)

I've been here many years multiple name changes, couple of flounces! But still hang on in here!

PronounssheRa · 23/11/2021 11:53

Oh fuck. I do understand your frustrations though. MN feminism board shouldnt bend to the will of misogynistic external monitors who clearly target specific posters.

TedImgoingmad · 23/11/2021 11:54

I'm recently back from a banning, for utterly ridiculous reasons. I think the pro TRA moderation is going hyper because they know they are losing. TRAs have been exposed in the mainstream, people are no longer staying silent. It smacks of desperation.

@FloralBunting. I've learned so much from you and enjoyed your posts. I totally respect your wish to leave this site, but I hope you do come back. Either way, best wishes to you Flowers

Thelnebriati · 23/11/2021 11:54

I'll be sorry to see you go, Floral. I hope you decide to take a break (even if its a long one) instead of deleting your account.

FloralBunting · 23/11/2021 11:56

Dino, they haven't won, my friend. Me setting a boundary on how I am willing to be treated is a big win. Plus, I promise you, me not posting MN after today is no win for TRA nonsense. I do other things that pull holes in the web of nonsense x

I'm sorry to read this, you're one of my favourite posters. But I understand your thinking.

I intend to keep going for as long as this corner of the internet continues to annoy people (or as long as I'm allowed). But that's me.

All the very best thank you (and remember there's nothing wrong with changing your mind) Flowers

Bordois · 23/11/2021 12:01

You'll be missed Floral Sad

WomaninBoots · 23/11/2021 12:04

Thank you for all your posts. I have learned a lot from them over the past few years.

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 23/11/2021 12:05

I'll miss your posts Flowers

I hate the fact that women here are held to higher standards than any other part of the site.

I'm hopeful the tide is turning now though.

ArabellaScott · 23/11/2021 12:06

Thank you for all your beautiful, thoughtful, incisive posts.

I'll miss you.

dolorsit · 23/11/2021 12:06

Sorry to see you go Floral, are you going to continue posting elsewhere?

MarshmallowSwede · 23/11/2021 12:06

It’s only a matter of time before I’m banned. I think I’m on my second warning for not using tra approved language.

As is common.. the men’s rights activists and the TRAs (men’s rights activists in dresses) check in here to make sure us razor toothed harpies aren’t discussing things they don’t approved of.

It all has a very “we must make sure that the women are not planning, not dancing, not making Congress with devil “ vibe.

They are puritanical and fanatic in their desire to stomp out women’s ability to speak or congregate without them.

MarshmallowSwede · 23/11/2021 12:08

I think it’s a sad day when long time posters feel they can’t speak openly here. I hope you decide to stay.

AssassinatedBeauty · 23/11/2021 12:09

I understand your reasoning, and wish you much strength in your other endeavours. I have looked forward to reading your posts and had noticed the drop in frequency of them recently. Thanks for all your energy and time!

CriticalCondition · 23/11/2021 12:11

I don't post much but I do a lot of reading here. I've learnt a huge amount from you, Floral. I'll be very sorry not to see you in this neck of the woods again.
Thank you for the education and inspiration.

bordermidgebite · 23/11/2021 12:14

Oh floral that is sad

Doubletoilandtrouble · 23/11/2021 12:17

Floral, I have been here for a while now, frequent name changer.

Thank you so much for all your thoughtful posts over the years. I can understand your decision even if I hope that you will change your mind.

I think there has been a shift over the past two years and women all over is having their eyes opened to this. I may post less now but I do more everyday stuff like working, very carefully on everyone I know whenever I get the chance.

Maybe this is like an academy? Women learn about what’s going on, the issues and the tedious arguments from the other side. And then they go out and do their bit IRL? And sometimes the teachers like Floral move on? And other women get increasingly eloquent before they also go?

Floral, thank you again for everything and hope to see you back here at some point - but no pressure. Just a warm welcome should you feel like coming back.

Whatsnewpussyhat · 23/11/2021 12:17

You will be missed here. 🍷Flowers

Masdintle · 23/11/2021 12:17

Nooooo! I've noticed you haven't been posting as much recently and was happy to see the occasional post. Sorry to see you go. From another Strike and Ellacot fan

NonnyMouse1337 · 23/11/2021 12:22

So sorry to see you go, Floral. You are also one of my favourite posters and I have enjoyed your insightful comments.
I understand the reasons though and it is incredibly frustrating to be censored and targeted. Hope to see you around again, but if not, all the very best!

MrsWooster · 23/11/2021 12:23

It’s going to change… look at the ‘has mumsnet changed you?’ thread and see what you and other women like you have achieved. This is the dark before dawn in terms of the TRA attacks and it must be almost unendurable to feel so unsupported but perhaps take a sabbatical instead? If you have to go, go in the knowledge that you have done real good for a lot of people.

HollyandIvyandAllThingsYule · 23/11/2021 12:24

@FloralBunting I’ve taken extended breaks from here off and on over the years and for me it’s absolutely necessary to do so to safeguard my own well-being.

It’s never been because they’ve won. They never will win...because when women get together we all know that the roar can be heard for generations to come. It’s also never been because I’m frightened - I stand firm and steadfast, with my head unbowed, just like you and like so many other truly strong, formidable and fearless women.

They can’t silence us all, and for every woman they drive underground there’ll be a hundred more heeding as courage calls to courage.

Go well.

unwashedanddazed · 23/11/2021 12:27

I don't post much but I read a LOT of FWR. I'll miss your challenges to the orthodoxy, including GC orthodoxy. I like to examine my stance to ensure I'm not just raging at madness. I understand your reasons but you will be very missed.

FridasSpectacularEyebrows · 23/11/2021 12:35

I have learnt so much from you. Thank you. Sorry to see you go and hope, if things change for you, to see you back!
