I've thought about this for a day, and would like to submit the following for consideration by those who may think that the three were perfectly justified in publishing the address on Twitter.
I know the man behind Holly Stars. He's a middle-aged, married gay man. At least one of his social media profiles has public posts, accessible to anyone with an account, confirming that he is Holly. Should I share the links with the media so that they can fully report on the story ? Would that be a reasonable, decent thing to do ? Or would that be something that would likely be excessively unpleasant for him, an invasion of his privacy, and thus wrong ?
As it is, I'm not going to share it with any media, at any time, because I hope he is busy reflecting on his behaviour and taking this chance to choose proper, grown-up behaviour befitting a 40-year-old going forward.
NotBadConsidering has it right. I would strongly urge you, if you think what you did was right, to come out under your real name and explain your position and your actions.
