I hope this happens unlike the inquiry promised into the 4000 percent increase in girls waiting to change gender.

I write to my mp about schools and the breeches of safguarding and never heard back.

They have all known for years and just ignore us.

Something has to be done these poor children need the adults to step up

FindTheTruth · 21/11/2021 09:37

good for her. and it's worth adding this issue to emails to MPs about conversion therapy. If this bill passes, then a child has been exposed to extremism and decided they are trans, can't be asked about it without threat of criminal action.

ItsRainingProstateOwners · 21/11/2021 09:50

It’s great that she is not letting up and continuing to speak out.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 21/11/2021 09:53

This is so important. Schools are operating way outside their professional expertise at the moment. Not surprising with the likes of stonewall, gendered intelligence, diversity role models, GIRES, the proud trust and countless other activist groups with numerous self interested adults pushing trans ideology, self ID and queer politics at schools.

And well done to the Bayswater Support Group for pointing out how anti bullying initiatives have been used as a tool to promote much of this to schools.

ScrollingLeaves · 21/11/2021 21:56

I wrote to thank her. As I am not in her constituency, perhaps she has to dismiss it. but I put the thanks and the issue in the subject line so maybe someone will see it in her office.

5337% increase in girls referred to tavi in the space of 9 yrs, not 4000.

35% of those girls have autism diagnosis, compared to less than 1% in the general population.

From transgender trend. Marcus Evens also had these figures in his most recent article (?).

SpindlesWhorl · 22/11/2021 06:51

The Cass Inquiry is looking at the Tavistock's GIDS, is it not?

I got that impression from what I've read.

Whatwouldscullydo · 22/11/2021 07:25

At this point I'm not sure what will have to happen tbh

We know the Tavistock finally released its study which of course did not show the results we have been constantly told it would.

WarriorN · 22/11/2021 07:35

This is all very well but why on Earth do they not also probe all these charities and randoms writing books and going into schools?

I know that some schools are simply actually clueless as to the harm. They're blindsided by the quality of resources that might actually be good for other areas of the RSE curriculum, which allows this crap to slip in.

And it's no good probing schools without also probing the teacher training colleges and universities who are definitely sporting this crap. Young teachers are being taught utter codswallop (or worse hauled over hot coals for knowing exactly what sex is)

But good for Cate for starting to get the ball rolling.

controversial lobby groups such as Stonewall;

Starting to see this phrase more and more 😂

DoubleTweenQueen · 22/11/2021 21:57

Have found my people. Thank God.

My 12yr old is affected by this. Nobody thought to let me know. School seem to have been affirming, and bypassed any parental involvement.

Am beyond distressed.

There's lots of threads on here from parents discovering their children are being encouraged by a school to 'transition" in secret from their parents. Safe Schools Alliance, genspect, Bayswater Support Group and Transgender Trend are good places to start if you want some constructive advice and support.

I am feeling pretty despairing tonight. On the pshe teachers groups I'm in, teachers are still pushing Mermaids and Stonewall, Proud Trust, All Sorts etc. While organisations like Genspect and SSA are immediately dismissed as transphobic.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 22/11/2021 22:17

It's infuriating isn't it MsGoodenough
It feels as if parental pressure is the only way to raise all the hazards and safeguarding issues. We're going to need a court case against a school who is transitioning children in secret in defiance of the Children Act & safeguarding guidelines before some staff get how serious it is what they're doing.

DoubleTweenQueen · 22/11/2021 22:25

@MrsOvertonsWindow Thankyou x

MrsOvertonsWindow · 22/11/2021 22:29

No problem DoubleTweenQueen
Finally parents aren't alone in this and there's now lots of advice around about how to support our vulnerable children and not allow random adults to drive a wedge between them and us.

ScrollingLeaves · 22/11/2021 22:45

I think parents are starting to homeschool over this issue.

The high court judgement in the Keira Bell case has serious implications for schools.

Would take a law suit to enforce but is worth using to argue with them.

Our local secondary has it in their lgbt+ policy that they will keep the childs trans identity secret from parents if the child asks them to.
NowtSalamander · 22/11/2021 22:50

Speaking as a GC teacher whose hands are tied until we get more parents speaking out over this, please, please start writing to Heads, governors and LEAs. The brainwashing that is going on, not just with external providers, but particularly with LGBT societies is absolutely horrendous. Schools are v responsive to parent pressure at the moment, particularly en masse so if you can raise it with other parents, brilliant.
I’m practising as I preach and have had much more success by going into my dd’s school than I have working in one 😳

RedCarpetRebellion · 22/11/2021 22:52

This is a safeguarding issue. No one working with children should be silent about a safeguarding risk. That’s breaching your legal duty of care to safeguard children.

DoubleTweenQueen · 22/11/2021 23:12

@RedCarpetRebellion Absolutely. You have to know about it first though, and as you said - schools are keeping this secret from parents, as I have found, to my horror.

DoubleTweenQueen · 22/11/2021 23:36

Looking at school policy, they are stating protected characteristic of ‘gender reassignment’ under EHR Act as early as wishing to change pronouns and go by a different name. So they will argue they must recognise and protect what the child is telling them, due to the EHR Act.

Have looked at the Act - this might be so, but doesn’t seem to mention age, but guidance clearly for adults - no mention of schools/children.

I need legal advice now.
