Yes, especially when you've been naive enough to believe, as I did for a while, that men on the left were sympathetic to feminism. I don't know why I believed that, as there wasn't much evidence for it.

Having watched the output of people like Tatchell, Jones and Bragg over the past few years, there are two themes that run through it:

1. An unshakeable belief that they have a much better understanding of feminism than women who have been feminist activists for years, fighting for the rights of women in prison, victims of male violence and abuse and so on.

1. Utter incredulity, bordering on shock, that there are women who won't do what men tell them. If a six foot six man with a beard wants to call himself Anastasia and share a changing room with teenage girls, then how dare women refuse to agree to that? It's a fascinating mentality. I can only assume that these men grew up with mothers who indulged their every whim.

I suspect the truth is that he knows no one would buy a new song. He's completely past it. This is an easy way to "stay relevant" from his misguided perspective. It makes me cringe inside out for him.
