Small Twitter exchange just seen:

Hi there
@ DawnButlerBrent, @ mcashmanCBE, @ AngelaRayner, @ lloyd_rm.

20 November is Trans Remembrance Day, could you please follow @ jessphillips' lead and in the House of Commons read out the names of all those trans people who have sadly been murdered in the UK this year?

Replying to
@ BigBillMoon @ mcashmanCBE and 3 others
Happy to.... are trans women not included in the list of names already?

I’m sure time will be found for this, as it should.

AnyOldPrion · 11/11/2021 19:43

Bill Moon is brilliant! I shall watch for new developments with interest.

Thanks for sharing.

Is she implying that there's a list of people to be read on Trans Remembrance Day which only considered transmen? Confused

Absolutely.

But it's not what TRAs want, so this is going to be interesting to watch.

I thought it read like she automatically defaulted to transwomen being the only important group of trans people.
NewlyGranny · 11/11/2021 20:34

Well, I wait with bated breath for the list of names to be forwarded. AFAIK it will contain a number of names

I thought she meant that as TWAW those sadly murdered in the UK would have been included in the list of women that Jess Phillips reads out.

(I am aware that a list of the names of TW murdered in the UK would take literally no time at all to read out)

Isthatthebestyoucando · 11/11/2021 20:44

It's about time this gaslighting exercise got more attention for what it is.

Stealhsquirrelnutkin · 11/11/2021 20:44

I would love for this to become a thing. Every one sits solemnly to listen as Dawn pulls out her list...

Whitefire · 11/11/2021 20:55

Following a link posted on another thread (about violent crime and the trans community) I did some googling. The only info I could really find was in relation to the US (even in UK media outlets) with a rate of approx one a week. Very little info on the whole about charges. Many were also black. Two were siblings killed by their mother, and another was shot by police whilst holding a weapon. The majority of deaths involved a gun.

The only UK name that came up was Naomi Hersi from 2018.

Sadly I think the US rates say as much about their gun crime rates as does about the non/safety of the trans community.

Theunamedcat · 11/11/2021 21:25

is that today? but is November 11th? isn't that disrespectful to the war heroes?

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 11/11/2021 21:54

Funny. When we say people, that's generally read as men. They're the default human.

When we say trans people, Dawn reads that as trans women. They're the default trans human to her.

Very, very curious.

AlecTrevelyan006 · 11/11/2021 22:06

Someone should also put together a list of all the people who have changed sex

NoThankYouSaurus · 11/11/2021 22:12

Given the institutional capture of the BBC and most left leaning press, you can bet that, if there had been a trans person murdered in the UK, the coverage would have been extensive. Also, Dawn Butler is mad to think that TRAs would want transwomen deaths lumped in with biological women on any list. Transwoman convicted = woman. Transwoman victim = not just any old woman like the rest of us, but proof of the most oppressed status of the trans community.

timeisnotaline · 11/11/2021 22:20

@Whitefire McKinsey published a piece called transgender in the workplace yesterday whcih is US based. I can’t copy a link because every time I click it it opens my McK insights app. It does refer to stats on murder, you’d think they would do sound research but I’d love to see the stats validated and compared to other murder rates. I think the whole death by violence thing is just different in the us though, (doesn’t change that it’s awful). I’m well aware in the uk there are none this year and almost no transwomen at all murdered! Women on the other hand…

LucretiaBourgeois · 11/11/2021 22:38

Well worth looking at the thread - lots of excellently sarcastic replies, very funny. And Dawn's message is still up, so it looks as if the penny hasn't dropped yet.

The tweet linked to says nov 20th. But the echoing of Remembrance Day is a bit off imo. Is there such a thing for any other group?

Yes very much this.
SolasAnla · 11/11/2021 22:59

@Whitefire I had seen 2 twitter list by a journalist months ago (probably this time last year) using the US official trans day list and the police records. One tweet per person.

I don't think any were female.

Not sure if it was 2018/2019 or 2019/2020 First year had male killed in a mass shooting in a shopping mall.

Each tweet had the arrested party or an open police report link.

Black and poor killed by male partner was a very common theme in the arrests.

Poverty, drugs & arrest history were also common with the open cases.

The stats per population worked out as the safest per the whole of the US pop v all listed and per Black pop and Black young males if analysed by race. Black males under 30 are the group with the highest murder rates in the US.

The reply is interesting how the Trans Remembrance Day & trans people translated into "women killed" but not females who are trans.

Once again, this illustrates how its not just on this issue that I will not vote for the current shower in Labour. This is just such basic fact checking, but the need to 'look good' overrides the need to look competent. It just makes me wonder what else they are so inept about.

I just can't vote for people who can't even check out basic stuff in this way.

DdraigGoch · 11/11/2021 23:21

I just love the replies.

For anyone wondering, yes Dawn’s noble commitment has been archived. I hope she gets lots of media coverage for it. Flowers

I'm genuinely surprised that the International Lesbian Visibility Day isn't on 29th February.

ErrolTheDragon · 12/11/2021 00:06

Does anyone know why this is specifically a 'trans day of remembrance'? In everything else it seems like T has to be glued inseparably to LGB as a 'community' (and there are accusations of transphobia otherwise)... but not for this? I don't know what the stats are but I fear there are still murders due to homophobia
Being entirely serious, it's odd that among those various days there isn't a Remembrance Day for gay people who've been killed. This thread has reminded me of the horror of the nail bomber.
