Emma Barnett is asking the questions.

OP posts:
FindTheTruth · 11/11/2021 10:36

Yes Nauticant. positive feedback to the BBC

Shedbuilder · 11/11/2021 10:36

@TheOrigRights

Huzzah! I put the radio on while I was hanging laundry (WFH) and have just come here to see if there's a thread.

EM is brilliant. It's taken me a while to warm to her, but now I think she's fabulous.

She's turned into what I hoped she'd be now she's come off the back foot. I advocated for her when Garvey announced her departure and was feeling a bit embarrassed by her early performance. Thrilled now.
WTF475878237NC · 11/11/2021 10:39

I think Emma really missed a trick when somewhere in the answer to the pregnant people question fact was mentioned. I would have liked her to pin him down on this more.

pickingdaisies · 11/11/2021 10:41

I just gave positive feedback, and was delighted to do so. I'm hoping that one day soon I'll be able to have a proper discussion with someone very close who has been completely taken in. I'm just waiting for the scales to drop from their eyes.

Mollyollydolly · 11/11/2021 10:41

I have also just sent positive feedback praising Woman's Hour and magnificent Emma. Please do the same, it takes 5 minutes and executives do look at the comments. It's worth it. Show your support.

Ratherly · 11/11/2021 10:41

Shedbuilder - exactly the same, had high hopes which were soon dashed, can't listen until later but sounds like she's been unshackled and living up to the expectations.

I hope she gets Jenni Murray back on to interview!

missproportionate · 11/11/2021 10:42

Emma rocks. I have sent ++++ feedback.
Plus that silence!!!

FetchezLaVache · 11/11/2021 10:43

@Shewholovedthethebanhills

The silence after the pregnant people question! Bloody hell.
I was driving and the time and thought I'd lost reception!

Maybe that's what you call a pregnant pause.

I'll get my coat.

Mollyollydolly · 11/11/2021 10:44

You could just tell from what was left unsaid that Ben Hunter had caused a massive shitstorm right at the top of the BBC. He was always our best ally!

Noshowlomo · 11/11/2021 10:46

Missed this but love these comments. The tide is turning against the ridiculousness of it all.
LOTS of comments on a post put up yesterday on @bbc page on Instagram about being glad that BBC have come out of Stonewall. Have a look.. its made me smile.
LOTS of GC accounts on insta as well.

ScrollingLeaves · 11/11/2021 10:47

I have just sent positive feedback

Xenia · 11/11/2021 10:49

Well done.

WTF475878237NC · 11/11/2021 10:50

I have also just sent positive feedback for coverage of this.

HH76ds31 · 11/11/2021 10:54

Emma is awesome. I have totally done a reverse ferret as I wasn't at all convinced in the early weeks and indeed I tuned out. I guess I was suffering Dame Jenni Murray withdrawal symptoms. Still miss her terribly.
I have sent positive feedback to the BBC. Well done Emma - I know you must be lurking here because how else would you be so well-educated on this subject ;-)

BarbaraofSeville · 11/11/2021 10:55

@OhHolyJesus

Has someone put truth serum in Emma's tea?

Her tune is certainly changed.

Am I mistaken in thinking she was on the TWAW bandwagon until recently?

I haven't listened to WH much since she took over, so may be misremembering, but I will certainly be downloading this to listen to.

nauticant · 11/11/2021 10:57

In recognition of Remembrance Day the final feature is about female agents of the SOE during the Second World War. Powerful stuff. Great stories but so much to bring a tear to the eye.

Doubletoilandtrouble · 11/11/2021 10:59

Does anyone know where I can catch up on this? Would love to watch it

HH76ds31 · 11/11/2021 11:01

@Doubletoilandtrouble

BBC Sounds
Might be a small delay before it's available to stream

PigeonLittle · 11/11/2021 11:01

@nauticant

waffle waffle waffle

EB: "Is the answer that we don't have a policy yet?"

Emma Barnett is asking the key question for BBC journalist which is why there's something of a rebellion going on: they know they're facing arbitrary rules where, if certain external pressure is applied to the BBC, will lead to journalists being punished.

This sounds excellent!
nauticant · 11/11/2021 11:01

It can be listen to again at this link Doubletoilandtrouble:

www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m0011c4v

You might have to be registered on BBC Sounds to listen. It really is well worth a listen, this thread is fun to read but listening to the actual nuts and bolts of the struggle going on in the BBC is simply great.

OP posts:
FindTheTruth · 11/11/2021 11:02

I hope she gets Jenni Murray back on to interview!

YEEEESSSSS!!!!!

PigeonLittle · 11/11/2021 11:02

@Mollyollydolly

You could just tell from what was left unsaid that Ben Hunter had caused a massive shitstorm right at the top of the BBC. He was always our best ally!
I seem to have missed this entirely, can anyone explain who Ben Hunter is please?
MrsMadderRose · 11/11/2021 11:03

I think Emma's been well and truly "educated" (in a good way!) by some of the interviews/research she's done on this topic and is really getting to grips with the issues. Either that or she's just been able to be a bit more honest in light of the recent direction of travel.

She can be brusque and pushy but sometimes you really want that. Woman's hour should be about standing for women and asking the questions about women's issues.

PigeonLittle · 11/11/2021 11:03

Woman's Hour is now going in my subscribed list on BBC Sounds. This is a good way to show that the conversations they are having are creating more reach. If you can do this it would be a good way of showing support, as well as writing to Woman's Hour directly.

MonsignorMirth · 11/11/2021 11:04

Ooh, must listen.
I think it'll be available here at some point soon
