Please, if you live in Scotland, get the message to your MSPs.

Follow the link and it is all very easy. If you can share far and wide, that would be great.

Will do but want to put some words in about the recent advertisement for smear tests saying that 2 people died from cervical cancer every week

Have had a response back from Jeremy R Balfour, the MSP for Lothians (Conservative) already stating ...these consultation responses confirm what we already knew – this is a sensitive topic and opinions are firmly split. We must protect women’s rights and take concerns that those rights are being eroded very seriously. For now, we await the details of this legislation and stand ready to scrutinise each aspect of it. The Scottish Conservatives will not stand by and allow this SNP-Green Government to push this legislation through Parliament without all parties’ concerns receiving due consideration. There must be a full and informed debate on this issue and that this can only truly be done once we see what legislation is being brought forward.

EdinburghFeminist · 10/11/2021 10:49

I’ve had a response back from one of the Greens:

Thank you for writing to me about your concerns.

Myself, and the Scottish Green Party, wholeheartedly support the rights of trans people including that of self-identification. Trans rights and women’s rights are not in conflict, as all humans have the same human rights. The human rights of minority groups should not be open to debate and interpretation, they should be accepted.

The Scottish Greens stand firmly for inclusive, intersectional feminism which recognises the intersectional nature of power which creates additional barriers for women facing multiple discriminations. You can read more about this here: greens.scot/womens-pledge.

In the recent cooperation agreement between the Scottish Greens and the Scottish Government we agreed to reform the Gender Recognition act to establish a more straightforward system for obtaining legal gender recognition for trans people. I believe that trans people should not have to go through a degrading, traumatic and intrusive process to be legally recognised in their gender.

I hope that you agree that we must do more to improve the lives of the trans community who have been the target of a hate campaign for the past few years.

Regards,
Lorna Slater MSP

Done, thank you.

I can anticipate the responses, but we will see.

What a crap response from Lorna Slater.

ArabellaScott · 10/11/2021 11:00

The human rights of minority groups should not be open to debate and interpretation, they should be accepted.

Which human rights? The rights of rapists to be housed in women's prisons? The right of children to access off-label medication and surgery to treat 'dysphoria'? The right of male doctors to treat female patients who've specifically asked for a female HCP, even in cases like care for rape victims?

You can't just invent rights as if any stated desire magically becomes a 'right'.

dotoallasyouwouldbedoneby · 10/11/2021 11:01

Done.

Well that’s no surprise from her. Wee paddy, sturgeon and LS are a trinity of misogynists.
Ratherly · 10/11/2021 11:12

Done.

That response from Lorna Slater, honestly!

GrouchyKiwi · 10/11/2021 11:21

I've also received Lorna Slater's mealy-mouthed reply that addresses none of the issues raised. I am composing my reply.

ArabellaScott · 10/11/2021 11:57

Tory MSPs have responded quickly with same response as above.

SNP MSPs have sent the usual auto-responder with 'sorry, we're too busy to respond to your emails' with one of them adding an additional 'please follow us on social media because we might respond generally on there'.

ArabellaScott · 10/11/2021 11:59

If any SNP members or indeed MSPs are reading, I do not consider it adequate representation nor fulfilling of your duty to represent your constituents to send back an auto responder that says 'sorry, we're too busy'.

It's not just this issue, either. It's across the board. Unacceptable whatever the issue/subject.

I have just had the same excellent response from my Tory MSPs as well.

I just got sorry 'too busy' from SNP one.
