Hello everyone

What a few weeks it has been. Just wanted to give a HUG SHOUT OUT to everyone who has supported me. 84K carrots. That will make someone very nice carrot soup. Thank you.

There's a long way to go yet, but I just wanted everyone to know how appreciative I am. There is likely to be another appeal - but not for a while yet. Meanwhile

THANK YOU.

I am off to California to spend two weeks with my father and stepmother and so I am likely to be a bit quiet. That said, please feel free to post questions and comments. I promise to check in with everyone once a week.

Big love for the support.

Jo

Absolutely thrilled that you hit your target Jo, and just watched you give an excellent account of what happened to you on GB News with Andrew Doyle.

I do hope you can have a relaxing break.

BreadInCaptivity · 07/11/2021 20:29

Great news and a very tasty soup 😁.

spondoolikay · 07/11/2021 20:32

So happy you're getting a break Jo. We are all standing with you

MrsOvertonsWindow · 07/11/2021 20:53

What good news. That's a fantastic level of support carrots.

EmbarrassingHadrosaurus · 07/11/2021 21:04

Have a splendid and de-stressing time in California.

PandorasMailbox · 07/11/2021 21:54

Glad there's plenty of carrot soup Wink

LizzieSiddal · 07/11/2021 22:07

Have a great time across the pond.

NoThankYouSaurus · 07/11/2021 22:30

Carrots are good for the sight. Hopefully everyone will be seeing more clearly what's been happening to academic freedom once your case is up and running. Enjoy California!

Melroses · 07/11/2021 23:03

Glad there are plenty carrots. Make cake too 👍Grin

Stealhsquirrelnutkin · 08/11/2021 01:38

You were very good on GB news. The way you were treated was unforgivable, and I am very grateful to you for deciding to challenge it in court, to remind workplaces that they cannot just ignore it when employees subject their co-workers to targeted harassment, bullying and character assassination.

I'm so pleased that the total was reached so quickly, it just goes to show how strongly many of us feel about the injustice, and how eager we are to help when someone dares to stand against it.

Have a lovely time in California, you've earned a break!

TrevorFountain · 08/11/2021 01:42

Have a good trip, Jo, and some healing times with your family. Thank you again for taking this on. I'm ex-OU and appalled at how you've been treated.

FindTheTruth · 08/11/2021 03:26

Brilliant interview Jo

"'In my case, I was very concerned about what Stonewall was doing in terms of academic freedom in universities.'"

"Universities are places where we ask difficult questions"

Your case is so important. It's shocking that Universities have allowed you and others to be harassed and abused AT WORK. And I'm not aware of any time, in the history of Universities, that a belief was decreed sacred and unquestionable. This North American Pseudo religion impacts the whole of society. What's scarier than the religion itself, is the way our Universities and Public Bodies are punishing us for questioning it. My sense is that the majority of ordinary people are with you. You're the truth teller and these times will be looked back on in 100 / 500 years through a different lens.

FindTheTruth · 08/11/2021 03:49

People are going to be glued to this case when it gets to court. (when is that likely to be?) How many times will the judges be 'surprised'!

"we need case law about where academic freedom ends and harassment begins" At what point have the abusive colleagues on twitter crossed the line in harassing you for stating reasonable beliefs held by the majority of the population? It's staggering that Universities do nothing. Stand by and watch the abuse. They don't seem to recognise or be willing to admit the difference between a civil rights movement and a religious belief

SpringCrocus · 08/11/2021 06:30

Fab number of carrots! Enjoy your break. Proud to have contributed Jo.

Grumpyosaurus · 08/11/2021 06:34

According to my back-of-the-phone calculations, that's about 9tons.

A LOT of carrots.

Enjoy your trip.

IrisAtwood · 08/11/2021 07:52

Retired from the OU last year and disgusted by how you have been treated.

Enjoy your trip.

WarriorN · 08/11/2021 07:58

Well done!

This is so important. Last week an acquaintance was taken aside by her lecturer and told off for simply pointing out the correct protected characteristics.

prudencepuffin · 08/11/2021 08:54

Wow, what an interview - no wonder the gender crowd want to shut up clever women like herself and Kathleen Stock - if they listened some of them might actually accept the legitimacy of these professors positions!
The worst bit about this in my view is the appalling behaviour of fellow lecturers who seem so desperate to be part of the current "in crowd".
Good luck Jo.

ProfJoPhoenix · 08/11/2021 17:24

I love all these messages. Every one of them.

Thank you. Today has been a bit tough. Totally PTSD-ing it all over the place. So thanks...

💐💐💐💐💐❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️*@ProfJoPhoenix*

Your case is so important. We have to free critical thinking professors and students, so that they can help to free the country.

DisappearingGirl · 08/11/2021 17:58

Jo, I've been following your case and that of Kathleen Stock. You're giving me courage to speak up in a small way within my University about some of the slightly worrying gender ideology developments. Going to speak informally with my (very nice, laid back, male) line manager tomorrow and see what he thinks. I'm worried about this, so can't imagine the anxiety you must feel!

So grateful to people like you and Kathleen - but I'm also angry that it's left to people like you to take on this burden personally. Why aren't universities sorting this out themselves???

Justme56 · 08/11/2021 18:09

Hi Jo, just wanted to wish you a happy trip. My dad has PTSD and it is worse when he is stressed about things. Hopefully a couple of weeks away and a bit of 'rest and relaxation' may help in some small way.

So sorry that you are having to go through all of this but a huge thank you! Flowers

Blackandwhitehorse · 08/11/2021 18:23

The bullying you and others are experiencing is just obscene.

Completely support you. I hope you have a restorative break ❤️
