Hello everyone

What a few weeks it has been. Just wanted to give a HUG SHOUT OUT to everyone who has supported me. 84K carrots. That will make someone very nice carrot soup. Thank you.

There's a long way to go yet, but I just wanted everyone to know how appreciative I am. There is likely to be another appeal - but not for a while yet. Meanwhile

I am off to California to spend two weeks with my father and stepmother and so I am likely to be a bit quiet. That said, please feel free to post questions and comments. I promise to check in with everyone once a week.

Jo, I've been following your case and that of Kathleen Stock. You're giving me courage to speak up in a small way within my University about some of the slightly worrying gender ideology developments. Going to speak informally with my (very nice, laid back, male) line manager tomorrow and see what he thinks. I'm worried about this, so can't imagine the anxiety you must feel!

So grateful to people like you and Kathleen - but I'm also angry that it's left to people like you to take on this burden personally. Why aren't universities sorting this out themselves???

Let us not forget that universities are there to supply our great country with scientists, mathematicians, doctors, lawyers, school teachers, nurses and so on, not to provide us with state-sponsored political activists who have only one opinion or one goal in life.

Key point; teachers.

This is really becoming an issue in teacher training colleges. We've got swathes of teachers being let loose who have been coached in the ideology. Shereen Benjamin at Edinburgh was taken off teaching some subjects to PRIMARY teacher trainees.

It's also common practise now for school staff to be guest lecturers in teacher training colleges. I've seen very captured schools on twitter teaching "how to be inclusive " to pgce students etc. Especially during the pandemic as online has made it easier to do this.

Shereen has been protesting for women's rights in Labour. This was deemed unacceptable.

I just checked; she used to teach a course about gender stereotypes in teaching. Replacement staff teach gender woo.

Findthetruth - thanks for the links, really interesting reading. One thing that stood out for me was someone saying "The Office for Students’ own research shows that only 0.1% of requests for external speaker events by students at English universities in 2017-18 were rejected". Surely the point is that no-one is going to even put in a request for a gender critical speaker in the current climate given that even making the request brands them as transphobic!

I read the Daily mail article online first thing and was very impressed by the reporting. It says something, doesn't it, that it that about the only newspaper publishing a balanced article is the DM?
