@BettyFilous

I listened to the Stonewall statement about working to ensure that all LGBTQ+ people feel safe and comfortable at work and thought how utterly they’d failed lesbian Prof Stock. Wankers!
Of all the letters in the alphabet soup, the L have been let down the most by Stonewall and the current trend.

It's an actual joke that they continue to use L in that pile of letters, since the lesbophobia is shocking among the "community". Gay men are on the receiving end of homophobia from them too - but they're not women, so they don't cop it as much.

More from Hackett gawd what an awful man

Ah but LaetitiaASD, what you've done there is mis-gendered her, and that is an act of actual violence doncherknow. To which the only suitable response is threats of grievous bodily harm against those super-privileged ciswomen who are just wel jel that the TW are more attractive.

Artichokeleaves · 03/11/2021 15:15

I honestly am starting to think that Stonewall is quite intentionally trying to shift L to mean only their definition, and to push lesbians who do not share their political views out altogether, from being lesbians or part of the LGBTQ+. This was a view being actively pushed on another thread lately by political supporters.

I shall be interested if Twitter pile ons are going to be criminalised if actual real life pile ons and the appalling behaviour of those who made Stock's life a living misery until they forced her out will also be criminalised. One get the impression that the police would quite like to move crime fighting online entirely at this point.

HoardingSamphireSaurus · 03/11/2021 15:32

Her book is very supportive of trans people, in fact a bit too forgiving of the dogma for my liking, but she also argues that material sex is real and matters.

Anyone who reads it, or snippets of it, with an even vaguely open mind would see it like that!

But we aren't talking about people with an open mind,. When they, inevitable, arrive here, they wil be very easily recognised as their posts will lack logic and critical thinking. They have a cause, a fath, a grand hobby horse.

And they will burn all witches!

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 03/11/2021 15:42

One cannot sit on the fence. One must be absolute in one's allyship, or one is branded transphobe.

Attempting to demonstrate support for the ideology whilst also claiming that biology and sex is real and immutable gets no one anywhere except as the next target for piles of online abuse.

HoardingSamphireSaurus · 03/11/2021 15:46

Wait a moment! Is that the same DR Liam Hackett as the founder of Ditch the Label? I see from Google that it is.

Fucking hypocrite! I hope he gets censured for his abuse of SM. Silly man!

TedImgoingmad · 03/11/2021 15:47

From Wiki:

Liam Hackett (born 19 January 1991 in St Helens) is an activist, entrepreneur and author best known as the founder and CEO of the global equality and anti-bullying charity Ditch the Label

Hackett is a regular contributor towards the global conversation surrounding technology and bullying and has advised the British, European and American Governments and speaks often at the United Nations

From Liam Hackett today:

"[Stock] is desperate for airtime and attention. It's a juxtaposition to her dull, hateful and morbid life"

TedImgoingmad · 03/11/2021 15:48

X-post!

HoardingSamphireSaurus · 03/11/2021 15:50

I know. I am not on Twitter but feel the need to send a screenshot of that tweet to the rest of UniSussex management.

Bullying wrong unless target is a woman who believes that sex is immutable.

Quelle surprise!

Oh, and very upset about being excluded from breast screenings: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/4224234-lgb-alliance-is-now-a-registered-charity?msgid=106669263#106669263

@daringdoris

Excellent interview. I hope she'll be able to recover from the trauma she has suffered, which you can hear in her voice.

This is a song I've been listening to on and off since I was little, but something about this morning's interview made me think of it:

Some pertinent lyrics there from Peggy Seeger!

One of my favourite songs - always go and see her when I can - in her 80s and still a strong campaigning feminist, and this song is spot on about the current situation.
DevonTF · 03/11/2021 16:00

I feel so awful for her. You can hear the strain in her voice. I cant help but feel its just a bit too little too late from the BBC / Woman's Hour. Whilst I am glad they are now taking part in the debate , and allowing our voices - we should not be here in the first place.

HoardingSamphireSaurus · 03/11/2021 16:05

Ha! PA to the Vice Chancellor now has a screenshot...

And the BBC have been told that their previous bright idea of having men and transwomen speaking for women needs to stay stopped, and more women like RRS and KS need to be heard.. cos women do actually have voices of their own!

MarshaBradyo · 03/11/2021 16:07

I didn’t hear it but I did hear about her resignation

That is so sad, and bad

Sophoclesthefox · 03/11/2021 16:07

Great interview with Dr Stock, I’ve just listened on catch up.

The contrast between her reasoned and reasonable, thoughtful stance and the mealy mouthed platitudes of the statements at the end was very striking. Particularly the one from stonewall, where it talked about standing up for all LGBTQ+ people- except, apparently lesbians, and in particular Dr Stock, who has been bullied and harassed out of her job for her political opinion. Oh, I see, wrong sort of lesbian, is she? Ah.

I’ve sent off a thanks to the BBC, every time they engage in this debate with integrity, I’ll do it again.

ExcessivelyDisorganised · 03/11/2021 16:11

We were at Sussex open day and saw the demo too. We didn't find it threatening - it felt rather toothless to us - the demonstrators were standing in a straight line and even with the chanting and the masks looked a bit lack lustre. DD's take was that they're idiots, but have a right to demonstrate. She made a good point, as the University can't and shouldn't stop students demonstrating - if she'd seen them being silenced, that would have put her off far more. Threatening and agitating for violence against Kathleen Stock would of course be very different, but the leaflet we picked up wasn't saying anything like that. I wish I'd kept it now!

I did keep it. It didn't threaten or incite violence but it was defamatory, and badly written.

While I would agree that the line of protesters themselves weren't particularly hostile, it is the nature of their protest that was. So if they had been protesting about lack of action on climate change, university policy on LGBTQ+ rights or the visit of a world leader we would not have had a problem. The fact that it was directed by name, at a single member of staff, who has protected characteristics, in her own workplace was what made it hostile. DS understood the difference.

Clymene · 03/11/2021 16:25

God all these jumped up men with egos the size of planets. I followed all those links from Hackett's wiki page saying that he advises the UN - the first one (ironically) goes to Commission on the Status of Women: Raising Our Voices, the 2nd one is a 404 error, 3rd, the server can't be found and 4th a dupe of the 2nd 404 error.

Liam is a man whose realised that charity can be an excellent vehicle for self promotion. His charity had an income of £550k last year and staff costs were £350k. There are 6 members of staff, only one of whom receives remuneration of over £60k according to the Charities Commission.

Quite the gravy train

TrevorFountain · 03/11/2021 16:29

The man calling himself 'Dr Liam Hackett' on Twitter. What does he have a PhD in?

I've looked online and I can only find reference to an honorary doctorate.

Seashell1234 · 03/11/2021 16:35

We can support her by buying her book "Material Girls". Out now in handbook and the paperback version available for pre order.

theemperorhasnoclothes · 03/11/2021 16:36

Hackett is a nasty bully from the evidence of his own twitter account.
