@Wiltshire90

I'm a police officer and I (and everyone I work with) also think this is mental. In my force it's a civilian team called "crime auditors" who crime incidents. They are doing it at the dictation of the Home Office Counting Rules which sets out the guidance for what needs to be recorded as a crime. If they don't follow these rules then HMIC can penalise the force.

If an incident like this crosses my desk I make sure to remove the "suspect" status. Totally bonkers.

"Wasting Police Time" was a good book for exposing this sort of thing. There was a Panorama investigation and everything which made Tony McNulty look very silly after he'd stood up in Parliament and denied that "administrative detections" were a thing. I see little has changed.

"to say tw are not w, is that a hate crime? - I don't believe I should be on such a list. contact the police college and end this'
The definition of "hate crime" is so woolly that almost anything could be made to fit. It's all based on perception, you see.

Baroness Chakrabarti lecturing them gently on not using quotes by authors 😣
Remind me how she got her peerage? Oh yes, because she did a whitewash report which said that there was no anti-Semitism in the Labour Party. She hasn't always cared about oppressed minorities then?

I don't think it would take up that much time if sex, age etc are included as a protected characteristic. Like i say above, its an intelligence log which will be graded and filtered depending on the source. I don't think it will be a case of being swamped by such intelligence logs.

I think if every single misogynistic tweet/fb post/snapchat even conversation etc etc was reported then yes , the police would be swamped. I can recall 3 incidents this week that I would report if I felt it was worth it. Also 2 involving homophobia, again not worth it. Times that by 35 million women. It's a lot of incidents to log.

the police would be swamped

thankfully most people don't abuse the system like this minority of activists. to the point up thread I don't want to see the police lose a resource for predicting VAWG, VATP and femicide.

Sorry I think I was unclear last night - a number of Police Chiefs and Boris Johnston have already said that misogyny can't be made a hate crime because there's so much of it in society that the police don't have the time to deal with it; even though dealing with misogyny is supposed to be THE new policing and political priority according to Police Chiefs and Boris Johnston.

That's the crazy bit. I mean crazy as in, I want to bloody scream.

'Oh yes, we care, blah blah blah. But we're not going to do anything about it.'
