That's correct she does, and if she's a Uni professor then students also have the right to speak up, protest and complain if they have any concerns.

Oh FFS!!! What delicate little flowers they must be where they can't understand that people are entitled to different but wholly acceptable views. I wonder how they will cope in the world of work, try working where I did for nearly 40 years and have customers shouting at me every five minutes using vile language and threatening to kill me. I love them saying how much words matter! Oh the irony!!

I completely agree with the sentiments about the lack of intelligence and understanding being displayed by the bullies. Unfortunate that they lack the self awareness to realise how badly their actions reflect upon themselves.

That statement by the anonymous balaclava wearers is, er, striking. I hope it gets wide publicity.

Which line would you quote if you were a journalist? I think I’d go for “We acted as a community built on solidarity and love” accompanied by a photo of them.

I'm so sad about this although I understand the reasons for her decision completely. I hope she can recover from the stress of it. Shame on Sussex uni for not doing more to investigate and expel the "students" who absolutely terrorised her.

I would like to thank the students and staff of Sussex University who spoke up and raised concerns regarding her views and her association with the controversial LGB Alliance.

I think you're getting mixed up, it's Stonewall that is controversial that more and more organisations are pulling out of and who are sounding a bit rapey by claiming that lesbians sexual orientation is akin to racism.

That statement is a complete embarrassment. Makes Rik from the Young Ones look like a veritable guru. "A community of love", they say. A squally bunch of intellectually and emotionally stunted tinpot terrorists, more like. I would not want my children anywhere near Sussex University as it very much looks like students today come out of it stupider than when they go in, in all ways.

Solidarity and all best wishes with Prof Stock. What has happened is a disgrace.

I was asking myself what kind of person would be glad to see a woman harassed and bullied out of her job for her political opinions, who could be so utterly clueless about the basics of how civilised, pluralistic, democratic societies should operate….and then there you were, Margarita, clearing it all up for me.

I am going to be laughing about the “constructive dismissal? But she left of her own accord” line all day, so thanks for that. In the real world, where people have real jobs, legal due process and protections apply. They apply equally to people you don’t like as people you do. Most decent people will be rightfully horrified at this, so as someone said upthread, it’s likely to be a Pyhrric victory (which no doubt these ideological bullies have never heard of either, along with the importance of the rule of law).

Wishing Dr Stock all the very best for the future. If a settlement has already happened, I hope it was huge. And if it’s still to come, I wish you every success with it.

Describing Adam Tickell as "renowned cisgender man" gave me a giggle though, although I wouldn't want to be marking their essays.

God that’s horrible that they are smug and proud about it. Ugh. It’s weird that they can’t see that their approach is totalitarianism and a bad thing, but I guess that’s what a paucity of education does for you.

Stock only gave a different view from them and is open to debate, she didn’t try to shut down other views, have anyone removed or persecute anyone. Discussing the reality of biology is not persecution or transphobia. If it was, there wouldn’t be lots of trans people who support and agree with her,

Yet they can’t see that trying to completely destroy someone for disagreeing with you on you evidence-free beliefs is a morally worse way to be, and has terrible implications for everyone.

I expect Margareta Pie had a hand in the charming Instagram piece.how dare she come on here and gloat?
l also really hope book sales will go up hugely for Kathleen Stock and that she finds an institution where she is valued and protected adequately. Small comfort to see the tide is turning at last.

"Renowned cisgender man" just says it all doesn't it. "Cis' is actually a bad thing in itself, and a term of abuse, that's what they really think. Only identifying as trans makes you really acceptable, to whoever wrote that. As munroe bergdorf said, it's a form of divinity. Trans ideology (as opposed to trans people, who are not all like this) really is about a sacred caste and it's a cult religion where the crime of people like stock is simply daring not to be in it. And when you're inside something like that, you can't see it.

Please, let’s hear more from the campaign to eject Dr Stock. Lots more!

The thing is, many of these extreme TRAs realise that men who aren't trans have power in society. Some of them pre-transition fully bought into MRA/evo psych notions of "alpha and beta males" wolf packs etc.

So when they think they are better than men, they know it's not borne out in society. They also know their actions only minimally affect men. It's women they can have power over. It's women's rights they can control.

@BraveBananaBadge, it made me think of The Young Ones writing to the bank manager: 'Dear bully-boy fascist capitalist pig-dog crushing the working people' or whatever it was.

Except that TYOs were satire and were funny.
