Do you know what, I’m glad Oxfam have done this. It’s more sunlight on what actually happens to Women in the name of “Trans Rights”. And to be clear, removing this game has nothing to do with trans people, it’s to do with a very vocal minority, of misogynists.

I got the same response from Oxfam to my message about this as a pp above. We have the inspirational women jigsaw puzzle and jk Rowling and Malala are both on it, get that instead and make sure you let Oxfam know :)

When I used to pop in, most were women, as were most of the shoppers. BIL used to buy/donate loads of books to them but hasn’t since Haiti.

Owen Jones is part of a pile on on twitter. 'Elliot Page' trending on twitter. Owen Jones falsely claims "the objection was the game referred to the actor Elliot Page by his deadname, i.e. before he came out as trans". the makers of the game offered Oxfam the new version of the game and Oxfam refused. It's not true, Elliot's name was updated or removed and Oxfam still rejected it. Either he's a crap journalist or knew exactly what he was doing (or both).

I have actually come to realise that Owen Jones isn't a credible journalist at all. I took him seriously for quite a long time, and got really frustrated with the things he was saying about the sex and gender issue, precisely because I gave him so much credit.

But recently I think he is just losing the plot and is honestly just becoming a left wing Katie Hopkins. The video of him the other day giggling with Katy Montgomerie about the LGB Alliance, like a pair of schoolchildren, when OJ claims to be a 'journalist', was the final nail in the coffin for me. Along with the pile on of that mother that he and Ash Sarkar instigated a couple of weeks ago.

So I'm not surprised he is talking shit about this either really. He isn't a journalist.

Yes, this does seem like overkill, particularly given that Page’s breakthrough role was playing a woman in ‘Juno’.

Are all the games supposed to go to landfill?

I think he was doing that to get a rise out of Maya, so that it would trend on Twitter. She sensibly avoided that pitfall.

If they thought it through they would realise that ‘recall and scrap any product that accidentally celebrates an actor for being an out lesbian instead of a trans man’ isn’t really a good look.

I'm confused how anyone thinks it is any better to stop selling a product because it is a bit out of date, as though that's all right then. Surely you'd just sell up existing stock, and when you restock, order the updated version. Confused

This is the same Oxfam whose workers were paying women (and lets face it we all know which type of women we are talking about here) for sex in Haiti?

Not only was she a female in that film, she was a female teenager who found herself in the predicament of being pregnant with a baby that she did not want. Maybe Juno could have just identified as a boy and that would have solved all her problems?

Oxfam haven't said the specific reason. There are three theories (unless someone else has any other ideas...):
a) It wasn't inclusive of transwomen
b) It included "problematic" women - notably JKR and Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
c) It "deadnames" Elliot Page, who transitioned after the game was published - but the publisher has since apparently updated the game

It wasn't c) Elliot Page. The manufacturer offered the updated version, which they updated quickly, and Oxfam refused. so a), b) or other. my guess is b) but Oxfam are too scaredy cat to say it.

I too think OJ is nothing more than a left wing Katie Hopkins. I watched some of his you tube “discussion” re the BBC Stonewall investigation, which was full of inaccuracies/falsehoods. Some of the stuff coming out of his mouth was jaw droppingly stupid. He really does live in a very small bubble. He is not a journalist.
