The whole 'not inline with our values' statement from Oxfam might as well say 'people who disagree with the 'replace sex with gender' religious movement are hateful bigots'. so that's most of the population then.

Wow, Ulrike's on fire 💐❤️. thanks for the link @Igneococcus

"Ulrike Bullerby, 50, a mother of two with 25 years’ experience as a bookseller, said she had handed in her notice at the Oxfam shop where she had volunteered for ten years. She told The Times that the decision to ditch the game was “an affront” to all the women who fund-raise and donate to the charity.

“I feel like women are under attack. We’re not allowed to have a word to ourselves. We’re no longer allowed to celebrate women in their own right. It is insane.

“They [campaigners] want total submission from us. They want us to comply with everything and to deny that sex exists and that the female sex has the right to be acknowledged on its own terms.

“We’ve been demoted to ‘cervix-havers’ and then told off for saying, ‘No, I’m a woman’. If Oxfam becomes part of that culture . . . then I can no longer represent them. I feel let down and disappointed and I think this will make other women volunteers feel undervalued and overlooked.”

@CrossPurposes

Get thee to Gateshead. Copies of bingo and happy families games for sale at the BALTIC.

Wow can't believe that's got past the massive HATE CRIME posters that SHOUT IN YOUR FACE AS YOU ENTER.

Book shop separate business so maybe not as woke...

WarriorN · 25/10/2021 07:48

@CrossPurposes have you seen the exhibition on the top floor?

Pushing queer feminism and furries at kids.

Luckily it's not obvious unless they read the bloody leaflet which had me fuming.

Of course they haven't. Men have protected status under the patriarchy.

@MassiveHoard

This is yet another example of a big charity organisation that has forgotten fundamental principles of human rights for all humans. Which sometimes means appearing unkind to those who act in the role if oppressor. Basic integrity as a core value needs to be taught in schools and adopted by those in power.
Giving others equal rights, does not infringe upon your rights. Fundamentally.

That's why we don't have apartheid, homophobia, xenophobia in public policies these days. And for the better.

Blessex · 25/10/2021 08:54

Ulrike ROCKS!!!!!!! Literally screaming at women - WAKE UP

AlfonsoTheUnrepetant · 25/10/2021 08:55

Ah. One can always count on @MishyJDI to miss the point in a spectacular way. It is why we have sex-based protections for women. You missed that out of your post, oddly enough.

Blessex · 25/10/2021 09:08

Twitter is blowing up.

Oxfam. Again.
Blessex · 25/10/2021 09:09

Nope @MishyJDI doesn’t get that it affects womens health, our safety, our quotas such as the pay gap or board membership, our kids mental and physical health.

MedusasBadHairDay · 25/10/2021 09:15

@CompleteGinasaur

Probably paranoia to the max, but didn't this only get dropped into the GC Christmas shopping thread yesterday....?
Ooh didn't realise there was a thread, off to find it now..

MishyJDI comes from the firm standpoint female humans don't matter and din't need any different treatment than non females because they aren't special. MishyJDI thinks equality is achieved by giving everyone exactly the same rights and then let groups fight it out amongst themselves. To ensure the group of female humans don't get too much to say about how society treats them, they will also ensure the group of female humans has no words to indicate they are a distinct group. Divide and conquer. Very progressive.

I thought this thread was about the removal of a game celebrating women's achievements, ostensibly because it didn't include men. So how does this not infringe women's rights to acknowledge our achievements in a society which traditionally has often refused to acknowledge our existence ?

KittenKong · 25/10/2021 09:35

Rights? Taking/demanding someone else’s is hardly fair in any way.

Yes we all have ‘rights’ - but there are also responsibilities.

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 25/10/2021 10:00

Perhaps Mishy can tell us explicitly which rights a trans person does not have which a non trans person does? Because from where I'm standing the problem is that some people believe they should actually have more rights than the rest of us, regardless of the cost to women and kids.

But anyway, apologies for having been suckered into the derail, the OP - interesting the amazing lady who has left her voluntary job at Oxfam over this. I wonder what the sex is of most of their volunteer force in the shops? I imagine there are a fair few other women who will feel the same. I'm looking for some volunteer work to see me through to after Christmas and a charity shop would be perfect. Guess which one I shan't be calling ...

StandWithYou · 25/10/2021 10:18

I am so fed up of this - I want to be able to buy my daughter games, books etc that will inspire her. I’m fed up of the double standards. I am going to flex my purchasing power and let any company or organisation that does this why I am no longer purchasing from their company. It’s a fucking game why can’t we have anything for women anymore.

On the upside if you have a copy it’s going for three times the purchase price on eBay.
