Amazing!!!

Enough4me · 19/10/2021 01:38

Reality meets ideology, and reality wins. Here's hoping for reality to keep winning!

“Our work exploring the latest research, evidence and studies made clear that there are retained differences in strength, stamina and physique between the average woman compared with the average transgender woman or non-binary person registered male at birth, with or without testosterone suppression,” the SCEG said. The research concluded: “For many sports, the inclusion of transgender people, fairness and safety cannot co-exist in a single competitive model.”

While the research found that it is fair and safe for transgender people to be included within the male sports category, it determined that competitive fairness was lost with self-identification into the women’s category.

It will never cease to be a shock that an organisation states something that should be completely uncontroversial. Yet such beliefs are so shocking in contemporary times that they have to be defended in law and holding those beliefs can lead to social media cancellation and calls for job loss.

Does anyone else read this stuff whilst thinking, ‘no shit, Sherlock!’?

LivingLaVidaBabyShower · 19/10/2021 05:05

Amazed it took more than a pair of eyes and basic comprehension of the world around us to resch this conclusion but delighted reality and science prevail.

SaltySheepdog · 19/10/2021 05:24

Just common sense.

Gardenerboo · 19/10/2021 05:28

@DifficultBloodyWoman exactly the phrase that went through my mind.

ShamedBySiri · 19/10/2021 06:01

the SCEG found that men and women are very different

While these drugs do lower testosterone, they do not decrease height, larger bone mass, strength, stamina, and such physique advantages as wider shoulders and muscle insertions.

It's almost comical!

Imagine a drug that would decrease height and bone mass....

MellieBellie · 19/10/2021 06:22

This is good news. The sports issue is one of the most glaring examples of the misogyny in this movement. It's so obviously unfair that anyone who argues in favour of it shows that they don't give a shit about women's safety or right to fairness.

No doubt plenty of sports orgs will ignore it, but they now will not be able to claim ignorance. Hopefully, insurers and lawyers will point out the obvious risks they face from ignoring the evidence.

Seymour5 · 19/10/2021 06:24

A bit of sense at last! However, shouldn’t allegedly intersex individuals such as Caster Semenya also be included? She isn’t transgender as such, she was deemed female at birth.

eurochick · 19/10/2021 06:28

I'm happy the tide seems to be turning. More and more people seem to be noticing that the emperor has no clothes.

JustcameoutGC · 19/10/2021 06:34

I think this research should be entered for an IgNobel prize.
"The Ig Nobel Prize is a satiric prize awarded annually since 1991 to celebrate ten unusual or trivial achievements in scientific research"

It generally goes to research that addresses questions noone in the history of ever wanted the answers to, or research that proves the bloody obvious to anyone with eyes and a brain.

I reckon its a shoo in.

JellySaurus · 19/10/2021 07:02

The extract implies that this is an article about TW. As usual. Is it 'fair and safe' for transmen to be included within the male sports category?

But, yes, apart from this aspect, it really is a total No Shit Sherlock.

All the time.
BeBraverToday · 19/10/2021 07:48

This is excellent.

Piapiano · 19/10/2021 07:50

Thank you Laurel Hubbard for highlighting the ridiculousness of this.

PronounssheRa · 19/10/2021 07:58

It's not fucking rocket science but I'm glad they said it

andyoldlabour · 19/10/2021 08:09

Why has it taken so long to recognise the bleedin' obvious?

Exactly my thoughts! But sadly the obvious needs stating and restating.

Just donated to Dr Jo Phoenix (link to donate on her Twitter account) - she needs our support in this fight.

Almost Grin. My default is 'D'ye think?'
fallfallfall · 19/10/2021 15:22

I see $$$ flying into the breeze. Money wasted on the obvious.

NancyDrawed · 19/10/2021 15:47

Lisa Nandy will be so pleased - she said proper studies needed to be done as it wasn't possible to know about the fairness of including adult males in the adult females category!!

Now she can confidently say TWAW but if those same TW compete against women in women's sport categories, that isn't fair.

A bit from about 1.50 and again at 7 minutes.

Oh dear mermaids didn't get to advise them on inclusive sports 🤣

MrGHardy · 19/10/2021 20:15

"The research concluded: “For many sports, the inclusion of transgender people, fairness and safety cannot co-exist in a single competitive model.”

This is actually critical. They finally come out and state it.
