I think the tide may be turning

I was surprised by this video, not just by the hysteria on display, but heartened by the comments. People are starting to question, to push back. In esence, they are not playing the game anymore.

@Bcpg29 That is a daily caller video which is an organisation sympathetic with the right wing of the American Republican Party. What you are reading in the comments is mostly what the right wing/populist wing of the American Republican Party think. That’s not representative of what most people think.

Maybe you should RTFT and see that argument was made at the start. Then to some degree debunked because the commentators on Variety's Twitter are beyond overwhelmingly pushing back on this nonsense. You can also look at the Twitter feed of NBC Out, and the result is the same. Eden Torres and Jaclyn Moore are both experiencing massive pushback on their own Twitter feeds with very little defence from their usual handmaidens. (The pushback on their own Twitter makes me a little uncomfortable, tbh.)

Chappelle is seeing mainly support. Kathleen Stock is getting more support than she would have even 6 months ago. WPATH doctors are speaking out against puberty blockers (obvious attempt at arse covering, but it's notable that they feel the need to arse cover). A change is very clearly happening. It's not like it'll be downhill all the way from here. But honestly, most people feel like the majority of posters here. They are just either too afraid to speak up or unaware of just how bad things are. But it's a critical mass in waiting.

Thethegg

The current Labour party is quite good at stopping people talking about certain subjects, quite good at getting people to chant mantras, quite good at getting people to use compelled speech. They are also quite good at losing elections, quite good about not being able to read the room and quite good at alienating voters.
The only reason Keir Starmer and the other echo chamber inhabiting Labour MP's are mocked in the Times, Telegraph, Mail, Express and Mirror and not mocked in the Guardian and Independent, is because the Guardian and Independent no longer allow comments on subjects such as these.

It doesn't really matter if the channel that posted this is 'right-wing Republican'. I'm sick of hearing that thrown at women tbh.

The real question about that video is: do you think that someone should assume that an obvious male is actually a woman because he wears a dress and lipstick?

andyoldlabour · 10/10/2021 11:01

"An indication of the tide turning according to that point of view would be a change in tone coming from the top of the respectable mainstream media"

I will ignore the majority of the verbal diarrhea and concentrate on that.
Who are the respectable mainstream media?

A channel founded by tucker fake news Carlson? Pass.

I have just got engaged. I would see myself as an intelligent dinosaur. I am now trying to engage the other intelligent dinosaurs around me who are not even aware of what is happening. If we all do the same we may have some hope.

Nothing more fake news than " human beings can change sex"

timeisnotaline · 10/10/2021 12:52

@334bu come on, that man is an active danger to democracy and human rights in the US. Still pass.

Babdoc · 10/10/2021 12:56

I would say the Times is the very definition of mainstream media, and it is resolutely gender critical. It has enjoyed a big rise in readership, mainly women deserting the Guardian over this issue.
Desperate denial of reality seems to be a feature of gender ideologists. The poster trying to frantically pretend that the tide has not turned fits the mould perfectly.

nauticant · 10/10/2021 12:57

It is vital for us to ignore the actual content and instead only focus on the source, which enables us to dismiss things that are in conflict with our blinkered view of the world. This is a Rochdale scandal enabling kind of thinking and is utterly dismal to see.

Agree , but TWAW puts woman in real danger as well. Biden will be responsible for every woman raped in a US prison. Do those women not matter in the land of the free?

The Times ? One of the oldest and most respected newspapers in the world?

Summed up perfectly. The turning point for me with regard to the Guardian, was the way they covered the new year sex attacks in Cologne and other German cities and the way they were deleting comments on articles, whilst pushing their "Comment is free" mantra.

The Guardian's coverage of the New Year sex attacks in Cologne was a Ratner's moment, albeit one where the fall-out is unfolding very slowly.

If there is a times link I’ll happily read it. The op post link to a YouTube channel is NOT a Times link and I don’t see one on a quick scroll through @KimikosNightmare @Babdoc
I’m not denying the tide has potentially hit a turning point, if people are referring to me with that comment. This same news is shown on a few sites - share those. May as well watch and amplify someone who cares about reality and women, not someone who would sell their grandma and 1000 of their own women supporters along with her for a story that hurts Biden. It must be possible to maintain some integrity on the journey to a better world!

Trump was bad, but Biden is completely mad. On 20th Jan, he signed an order which effectively allowed transgirls to compete in girl's sports. Biden is no friend of girls and women.

"The Biden executive order is far more ambitious. Any school that receives federal funding—including nearly every public high school—must either allow biological boys who self-identify as girls onto girls’ sports teams or face administrative action from the Education Department."

I think it’s totally irrational to sound like you’re comparing the two presidents, when actually you are talking about this particular point. Yes, it’s significant, but world war 3 won’t be good for women either. The unfettered pandemic let rage has been awful for women. Separating children and treating them badly hurts their parents, particularly their mothers forever. Trump supporters will ban abortions full stop if they have their way and have women back in the kitchen.

andyoldlabour · 10/10/2021 15:25

Did you witness the violence against women, perpetrated by left wing, trans rights activists after the WiSpa incident? Did you witness the behaviour of the beardyleftie guy in the WiSpa towards the black woman who was videoing the behaviour of staff towards her?
You are obviously in the US, whilst I am in the UK. Can you tell me why it is the left leaning political parties who are trying to destroy women's rights, allow males in women's sport, women's prisons, women's changing rooms?
As for WW3, I think any US president irrespective of their party is capable of starting that.
I wonder how the Afghan women are feeling right now?

Seriously? Yes the wispa incident was an awful example of the cost to women of this men must be included and no one shall protest trend. That in no way changes or invalidates anything I said. If you team up with morally corrupt excuses for human beings who give no shits about you or anyone who’s not in their club (newsflash - women are not) on the way you may not like where it ends up. Here’s a fun take on Tucker Carlson for you. www.harpersbazaar.com/culture/politics/a26839758/tucker-carlson-fox-news-bubba-the-love-sponge-comments-women-explained/
I’m not in the us, I have lived there for years, I have family there. But anyone can know this stuff.

They were so very dishonest about Cologne it shocked me as I had seen them as somewhat misguided but morally sound up to that point. That kind of thing rarely shocks me any more.

What is your point? One media commentator you don't agree with somehow invalidates the stance taken by journalists and editorial on for example The Times, The Telegraph, The Spectator, Spiked, many of the UK Conservative Party?

I'm citing sources you no doubt think are terrifyingly right wing (which of course they aren't- particularly Brendan O'Neill in Spiked) No doubt others here can point you in the direction of left-wingers.

It's a rehash of that ridiculous "Hitler was a vegetarian" gotcha.

It sounds very much to me that you support "cancel culture" and promote "purity spirals".
Here is another version of that Tiktok video, with some narration by a Matt Walsh. I fully expect you to reply to this, informing me that Matt Walsh is the Antichrist who eats six month old babies, three times a day.
