Absolute disgrace. Posters on campus calling for her to be sacked. Can't confirm this but nothing would surprise me now. Time for Sussex staff, students and alumni to put their heads over the parapet.

There was quite a delay between the initial furore and the uni's response.

My bet is that the Uni sought legal advice in the interim.

I remember a poster here a year or two ago saying what all this needs is a good dose of the law. I think that's what's happened and I think Maya has been instrumental. And I - if can dare to say it - I think this kind of pushback from the most rainbow university in the land demonstrates that in fact the tide may well have turned.

His name is francesco ventrella, and he has deleted his inflammatory tweets and made his account private. But there are screenshots that people have posted on Twitter- I'll see if I can find some..

Just catching up, I’m so relieved Sussex have put out a proper statement and police involved. I hope they both take meaningful action within the law available to them. This intimidation of academics should be a day of absolute shame for Sussex.

Kathleen stock replied to someone on twitter. She said that she had sat next to the beardy art historian at an event the other day. She'd obviously got nothing negative from him. So he is happy to publish on the Internet implying that she should lose her job (by saying he agrees with posters) but wont say it to her face. All professional courtesy in person but talks a big game on twitter. What a big brave beard.

Anyway, other than that I hope he now reads her book. He would have every right to criticise what she actually says, but not this.
