But this is the whole point. This is what the political lobby mean by respecting trans rights.

Any male person, can be in any female space, at any time, with any agenda, and the female people in that space have no right to resist up to the point that that male person chooses to abuse their body to an extent that may possibly stand up in a court of law after that female has been harmed. And since in the UK a full blown rape has around a 1% chance of ending in prosecution and will be hell on earth for the female person to go through the legal process of? In reality, nothing will happen.

Or at this point female people stand up and say that as a class group they also have rights, which are not compatible with the above, that female people are not subordinate members of the human race, and that single sex spaces must be provided and gate kept for female people alongside mixed sex provisions.

Considering if a female person is raped or assaulted in the UK they can expect (after all the distressing invasive physical examinations and evidence giving and if CPS will take it to court) for the defense to challenge them in detail on what they were wearing, where they were, and to what extend they can take responsibility for the male's decision to make use of their biology against their will, it is logical that the next step will be to say to a woman in court, "You knew male people are in this situation where you and they are naked and in an enclosed space, didn't you by choosing to put yourself there put yourself knowingly at risk?"

EdgeOfACoin · 02/09/2021 19:43

I thought it was all made up? That there was no transwoman or male in the spa? That the conservative Christian lady lied about it and that the whole incident was staged?

That is definitely what we were told on the previous threads about this incident.

One of those posters will be along to explain this, I'm sure Smile

flowerpootle · 02/09/2021 19:46

I'm so glad this has been confirmed. Those women who were vilified for reporting the incident. Guardian and Owen Jones said this was made up didn't they? FFS.

Mollyollydolly · 02/09/2021 19:46

Can anyone not blocked post the article on Owen Jone's timeline please. And all the other scrotes who blamed the women. I've already done it on Sally Hine's awful tweet from the time.

I'll open the bets now on Jones and most others pivoting without the faintest conscience to 'indecent exposure must be removed as a crime'.

Wow. Shocker. Now will someone do SOMETHING To protect women and children?! And not house this person in the women’s section of the prison if awarded a custodial sentence.

littlbrowndog · 02/09/2021 19:56

Not only that the sex offender was looking at naked girls and women.

and got away with it. And outrage against women speaking out and reporting it. Not believed

I feel sick that the sex offender was doing that. If it had been me and my wee girl it would have stayed with me in my mind

Him looking at us

No one believing us

JemimaTab · 02/09/2021 19:56

I seriously hope that the “indecent exposure exemption” thing doesn’t happen, there or here.
It shouldn’t do. Obviously simply being naked in front of someone else isn’t indecent exposure - in the UK, “indecent exposure” means “exposing the genitals with the intention of causing alarm or distress” (I assume there’s a similar definition in the US). It would be complete madness to allow an exemption for behaviour that falls within this.
But obviously this just also underlines how important it is to keep the single-sex spaces exemption.

Artichokeleaves · 02/09/2021 20:05

in the UK, “indecent exposure” means “exposing the genitals with the intention of causing alarm or distress

Again, a major problem with this.

A female person or child's objective experience of alarm and distress in response to exposure cannot be predicated on the subjective self view of the male person involved. There is no difference in the experience for the female or child however the male person views themselves and the situation.

If we are creating criminal records on the one hand for 'hate incidents' based merely on perceived offense or distress to spoken words in the UK without regard or interest in fairness to the speaker, it is beyond incoherent to expect female people and children to not require their perceived offense and distress to actual physical exposure of genitals to be similarly taken seriously.

It's another strong case for third spaces, which protects both trans people and female people/children. The only way around this is for single sex spaces for those who do not give consent to the presence of the opposite sex, and additional mixed sex spaces where entry is consent and no claim for indecent exposure, whether accidental or otherwise, would be valid.

Kotatsu · 02/09/2021 20:11

You know what, just let market forces deal with this - make it very clear that even in female areas, you can see a penis - like those 'male toilet attendants may be present' signs.

Watch the female clientele go elsewhere. Of course there does need to be an else-where for that to happen - finally we can maybe get my dream of more women's private member clubs where I can join, occasionally stay over, have lunch etc.

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 02/09/2021 20:23

I wonder if wokedudebro from the lobby has reconsidered his position or is it more feasible that he has joined the campaign to have indecent exposure removed as a crime?

@RedDogsBeg

Pertinent excerpts from the article:

Merager claims to identify as female so he can access women’s locker rooms and showers, reads an internal flyer by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department that was sent to law enforcement departments in southern California in late 2018.

Merager says she is speaking with progressive California lawmakers, like state senator Scott Wiener, in the hope that they change state law to better protect trans people.

If you go into an area where you’re expected to be nude, there has to be an indecent exposure exemption, she says. Merager says she may file complaints or lawsuits for the discrimination she says she has been made to suffer by law enforcement and women in the Wi Spa

I would be very interested to hear those who support self-id and chant TWAW defend this.

Of course they’ll defend this and agree with Merager that better protection for trans people is needed. The indefensible has been defended with victim and abuser reversed time and time again.

There’s still some on twitter defending Yaniv Hmm

LizzieSiddal · 02/09/2021 20:44

Has this got anymore publicity than the FB link? The demonstrations and subsequent harassment of women which followed the original incident did get publicity in The Times and DM, so I hope newspapers follow this up. As others have said can’t wait for the apology tweet from OJ.

RocketPanda · 02/09/2021 20:46

Well I never, the thought of a sex offender using a loophole to commit further crimes. Shocked to my very core.

What say ye now wokesters? Has it gone far enough or does another child or woman have to be raped before you put their safety before thoughts and feelings?

LizzieSiddal · 02/09/2021 20:47

We are not at the right starting point culturally for mixed sex to be ok in places strangers are naked together unless they specifically signed up for iI

This is what I’ve said from the beginning. In an ideal world men and women should be-able to mix, but we don’t live in an ideal world and until we do, we need separate facilities.

FrancescaContini · 02/09/2021 20:48

@OldCrone

I'm utterly astonished. Who could have imagined that a serial sex offender would take advantage of self-ID laws to expose himself in a women's changing room?

And this particular sex offender thinks that the laws don't give enough protection to males who want to expose themselves to women and girls.

From the NY Post article:

Merager says her open cases involving accusations of indecent exposure show a “pattern of abuse” from a state and society that punishes transgender people. “You allow [trans women] to go in there [women’s spaces] and then people simply claim indecent exposure and you’re arrested,” she says.

Merager says she is speaking with progressive California lawmakers, like state senator Scott Wiener, in the hope that they change state law to better protect trans people.

“If you go into an area where you’re expected to be nude, there has to be an indecent exposure exemption,” she says.

So this person is asking to be able to blame the establishment for allowing TG people in???

If this results in a conviction can the Wi Spa whistle blower and other victims pursue those who claimed they were lying/hoaxing?

RufustheBadgeringReindeer · 02/09/2021 20:55

And i do really wish that some of these ‘celebs’ and ‘personalities’ could be held to account

But they won’t be

EsmaCannonball · 02/09/2021 21:02

There was a third space in this spa and the man chose not to use it.
