Ali for leader.

I also got a call the other night from the local party group who asked ifi wanted to get more involved. I told them I'd joined in order to vote on the leadership. There was an odd silence and I'm still trying to work out if it was a GC silence of agreement or a TERF silence of disapproval. Oh well. I've voted. Have you? Smile

I will be voting for Ali too, does anyone know if he stands a good chance of winning ?

PurpleParrotfish · 02/09/2021 15:47

There’s a post in the other thread about the Green Party elections about how to use 2nd, 3rd etc preference votes. I would like to plug Tina Rothery and Martin Hemingway who have a platform of refocusing on the climate crisis, and giving ordinary members more of a say, e.g. enrolling members automatically into subgroups like Green Party Women. With the radical notion that members of a political party don’t have to agree on everything and debate can be healthy.

TheMarzipanDildo · 02/09/2021 16:09

I’ve voted too- 1st Ali, and then 2nd Rothery and Hemingway.

Nachthex · 02/09/2021 16:10

I have also just voted for Ali. I don't understand their 'reopen nominations' thing so prob stuffed that up. Put the Womack Woman and her mate last.

LemonSwan · 02/09/2021 17:14

Woop did it!

Nopetryagain · 02/09/2021 17:22

I have joined the Greens but can't see how I submit my vote for leader?

Nopetryagain · 02/09/2021 17:25

Ignore me I have just seen they emailed me a link to vote that went into my junk folder.

WarriorN · 02/09/2021 18:49

Anyone still to vote, 1st Ali, and then 2nd Rothery and Hemingway, then RON

No need to vote for everyone on the list.

lazylinguist · 02/09/2021 19:00

Just voted too, having joined a few days ago.

NecessaryScene · 02/09/2021 19:03

No need to vote for everyone on the list.

In STV it makes sense to rank every choice. Assuming "RON" is just treated like another candidate, choosing an order for the others underneath RON would make sense. Vote for the least worst if it comes down to it.

prudencepuffin · 02/09/2021 19:42

Havnt received the link yet but will be voting.

lionheart · 02/09/2021 20:01

@Nopetryagain

I have joined the Greens but can't see how I submit my vote for leader?
They sent me an email with a link and access code.

The other thread also has the information you need about how the voting works.

I received an email today and will vote for Ali.

singittome · 02/09/2021 22:57

Done and voted for Ali.

thinkingaboutLangCleg · 02/09/2021 23:10

Done - voted for 1 Ali, 2 Tina and Martin, 3 RON. I’m longing for the gender-woo crowd to lose interest and wander off, so we can get back to protecting the environment.

Does anyone know when we’ll see the result of August’s votes, for the other roles?

WarriorN · 08/09/2021 06:57

Copied from elsewhere:

For those of you interested in statistics, here is the percentage breakdown for each position:

E&D coordinator: Rashid Nix & Zi Neil 66.4%, Ash Routh 32.3%, RON 1.3%.

Finance coordinator: Jon Nott 95.2%, RON 4.8%.

Internal comms coordinator: Zoe Hatch 59.2%, Alexander Sallons 39.7%, RON 1.1%.

Local party support coordinator: Duncan Kerr 16.1%, Daniel Laycock & Lyndsay McAteer 19.1%, Tay Pitman 17.4%, Rosie Rawle 47%, RON 0.4%.

Policy development coordinator: Vix Lowthion 94.3%, RON 5.7%.

Publications coordinator: Rachel Collinson & Kathryn Bristow 48%, Julia Lagoutte 50.9%, RON 1.1%.

The last one is interesting.

I only voted for Ali too.

nzborn · 08/09/2021 19:53

Glinner has some recommendations

Cattenberg · 08/09/2021 21:30

I voted 1 Ali, 2 Tina and Martin, 3 RON.

For the benefit of our self-appointed monitors, I first joined the Green Party six or seven years ago and spent a good few hours delivering leaflets for our 2015 General Election campaign. I stopped renewing my membership after the party started referring to women as “non-men” and due to the shameful mishandling of the Challenor scandal.

I have recently rejoined, but not to “cause trouble”. I hope this election will enable the party to get back on track and focus on the Climate Crisis. We don’t have much time left and we’re wasting it.

It should go without saying that the Green Party should implement robust safeguarding procedures and check they are being followed. It should also go without saying that the party must respect ALL of the protected characteristics listed in the Equality Act, in the course of its work.

SpringCrocus · 09/09/2021 12:31

I've voted, Ali for Leader!

SpringCrocus · 09/09/2021 12:32
