Gay man 'bullied' off Manchester Pride for wearing LGB Alliance hat and t-shirt

LibDem activist delighted by this. Here are two of her tweets. The gay man who turned up in an LGB hat and t-shirt was allegedly advised by police to leave for his own safety and seems to have had the hat stolen.

Another young fool tweeted that 'bullying the guy in the LGB Alliance shirt who came to the protest march is my favourit part of Pride so far xx'. He has since deleted this (possibly because he is now sober and/or has seen how many people had reported this to his employers) and now claims he was just chanting 'Trans lives matter!'. 'Bullying' is an odd choice of words for this. How could anyone think admitting publicly to 'bullying' was a good look?

The LGB Alliance man has been advised that people shouting at him is actually assault if he wants to take it further. Doesn't sound like he does, though.

Unedifying, to say the least.

One of the key messages of LGB Alliance is that people should have freedom of speech. Well, what do you think this crowd were doing - exactly that, exercising their right to free speech.

That is not how free speech works.

Helleofabore · 29/08/2021 15:53

The LGB Alliance was formed in opposition to trans issues being included in with gay issues wasn't it? It's unapologetically divisive in nature and the complete antithesis of what Pride is about - inclusivity.

Are we to take it then that no group representing LGB people only is allowed to exist to support the interests of only those who define themselves as same sex attracted? And those trans people who belong to the Alliance are to be ignored too?

FloralBunting · 29/08/2021 15:54

I think the gist of the pro-bully crowd is that 'Sure, you can be homosexual. But if you are clear that means you are exclusively same sex attracted and you don't at least keep that quiet when there are people of the opposite sex around that don't like that, and you dare to suggest that there are some conflicts between being homosexual and being a Genderist, you should expect to be intimidated and threatened, because that's the kind thing to do.'

Theeyeballsinthesky · 29/08/2021 15:54

Ah here they come, the ppl who think same sex attraction is just so mean and hand waving away the fear that gay & lesbian ppl feel about having what it means to be gay & lesbian redefined

Jorriss · 29/08/2021 15:56

you should expect to be intimidated and threatened, because that's the kind thing to do.'

Yes well these these homophobic bullies can fuck off to the far side of fuck, and then fuck off some more.

yourhairiswinterfire · 29/08/2021 15:56

The LGB Alliance was formed in opposition to trans issues being included in with gay issues wasn't it?

Same-sex attraction was re-written as same ''gender'' attraction, and homosexuals (mainly lesbians at the time) were being sexually harassed, abused and hounded from their own spaces by people telling them they were bigots if they wouldn't accept penis, telling them to just ''try it to see, because you might like dick after all''. Hmm

They were sick of these conversion therapy fans telling them they needed to ''get over their genital preferences'', and so formed their own group, now a legally registered charity.

So they were set up to welcome those sick of being abused by homophobes within their own ''community'', who seem to think homophobia is fine as long as you chant ''trans rights'', wave a flag and call yourself 'queer' when you do it.

RedDogsBeg · 29/08/2021 15:57

That crowd were a whisker away from being a lynch mob and the fact you are applauding there actions says so much about you and the rabid, dangerous intolerance of TRAs and their supporters.

Helleofabore · 29/08/2021 15:58

Even those caught up in the action had the honesty to admit what it was… bullying! A crowd targeting one gay man and he walked away and they followed.

But maybe the cold light of honesty is uncomfortable to some eyes.

Quite.

@Jorriss

April is a dog? She identifies as a sausage dog? Wtf? Is this some kind of joke?
Although trans species or Otherkin is definitely a 'thing', I think in this case it just means April is an enthusiast of the Dachshund breed, not that she actually is one. Although, as this is the LibDems website, I'm willing to be corrected . Wink

@beastlyslumber

It's unapologetically divisive in nature and the complete antithesis of what Pride is about - inclusivity. So I don't really get why this man thought it was the time and place to promote division and exclusion at an event that centres on inclusion.

Pride isn't about 'inclusivity.' Being gay is exclusive by nature. In fact, all sexuality is exclusive (with the exception of pan-sexuality, I guess.) Pride used to be GAY and excluded straight people. You could go along I guess but it wasn't for you. It was a gay event for gay people: i.e. homosexuals. The point was not 'inclusivity' but GAY PRIDE.

Now Pride is full of straight people pretending to be 'queer' and kicking out any actual homosexuals who they don't think the men's rights movement should take over gay spaces.

It was literally NEVER about inclusivity.

Well said.

April is a dachshund enthusiast? Does that mean she's a raging spanielist? (Not very inclusive.🤔)

AfternoonToffee · 29/08/2021 16:07

What about the cats? Will no one think of the cats?

yourhairiswinterfire · 29/08/2021 16:08

The homophobic bullies seem to be forgetting that same-sex attraction is a protected characteristic. GC beliefs are protected. LGB Alliance are a legal registered charity. Therefore, a gender critical same-sex attracted man supporting a charity that advocates for him at an event that is supposed to be inclusive of gay men in not a crime.

The homophobes mistakenly believe that they're on the 'right side of history'. But make no mistake here-you're on the wrong side of the law. Do keep up your rancid bullying and sooner or later it will blow up in your faces. It'll be an absolute joy to see one of you made an example of.

Woof. 🐕🐩🐶🐾

RedDogsBeg · 29/08/2021 16:09

The TRA and supporters chants about tolerance, inclusivity, being free to be what you are - except if you are an exclusively same sex attracted gay man who supports an organisation that supports him.

Simon Callow was right the actions shown in those videos are tyranny worthy of an authoritarian, totalitarian state.

All this acceptance that the TRAs and their supporters blather on about is an absolute lie. There is nothing progressive or tolerant about this ideology it is damned with their own words and actions every time.

Jorriss · 29/08/2021 16:10

So are all the single issue trans orgs divisive too because they don't include the LGB?

This is the question that's never answered.

Trans must be included in everything, must be placed front and centre.

Everyone who isn't trans must be excluded from everything.

EastWestWhosBest · 29/08/2021 16:20

@GreyhoundG1rl

Apparently she's a queer heterosexual A what??
It means she really wants to be interesting but doesn’t actually want to have a relationship with a woman.
PurgatoryOfPotholes · 29/08/2021 16:24

And yet there were hundreds of gay men there who weren't kicked out so it's almost like the issue wasn't that he was gay, but that he turned up wearing apparel from a hate group to an event supposed to celebrate the very people that hate group targets

This reminds me of the classic misogynistic line that "she was asking for it, going out dressed like that".

You may not realise this, but this is a feminism forum. We don't stand for people claiming that they can't help themselves when they see other people's clothing.

Take responsibility for your violence and aggression and stop putting the blame for your actions on other people's wardrobes.

100%

Almost as if these excuses and justifications were written and being voiced by MRAs deeply embedded in the patriarchy.

Jorriss · 29/08/2021 16:32

Yes that's how I'd interpret it. Alongside being a special label to excuse their active homophobia.
