Much as I'd like Edinburgh lesbians to have their own space, taking a look at the founder I'm not sure that this space is going to be it.

That's fab, FloralBunting. Let's hope it's not too prescient.

(I did actually Google fraysexual, just in case it was a real thing that I hadn't heard of! You just can't tell these days, as my gran used to say.)

QueenPeary · 22/08/2021 13:52

It doesn't use the word brave, but "the big hurdle for Emily was getting past the fear of quitting university" refers to the courage required.

The only possible thing more Tatiana McGrath than this article is Floralbunting's version!

Oh FFS! I just had to Google fraysexual too... turns out it's basically a fear of intimacy that's been turned into a sexual orientation with yet another flag! I cannot understand this (self)obsession with labelling and identifying and announcing themselves as this that or the other. Who cares? The only label that fits this lot, IMO, is narcissist. Beam me up!

QueenPeary · 22/08/2021 13:53

Oops Titania

QueenPeary · 22/08/2021 13:59

OMG I did assume FB had made "fraysexual" up!

Does having any of these sex/relationship preferences at all make you queer, or are they just descriptors for everyone? I mean I don't want to shag some men because I don't like or fancy them - is there a word for that?

goinggently · 22/08/2021 14:07

Probably!!

Is there a label for people who don't identify with labels? Because I am one of them. Is it just 'grown up'?

Can we go back to the 90s now...? Things made sense then and I don't think people found themselves quite so endlessly fascinating... it is all incredibly tedious...

For the sake of clarity, I’m a non-binary trans lesbian

Christ. First they changed the meaning of the word ‘woman’ and now they’re gunning for the word ‘clarity’ ....

I have a young millennial friend who states his sexuality as someone who can only have sex with someone they love, I can't remember what the term was. I mean... How did we get to this point that that has a name as different from "normal sex" devoid of love?

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 22/08/2021 18:28

I think that one’s greysexual.

Abhannmor · 22/08/2021 19:08

' Fraysexual' sounds sort of .......painful Confused

tothesea · 22/08/2021 19:32

This has been all over the digital rags of Edinburgh and one heartening thing is the comments are all critical. Usually there’s at least one ‘ooh you’re all hateful bigots’ but nope nothing nada. Ever the activists know this one is a lost cause !

endofthelinefinally · 22/08/2021 19:43

It is a bit unwelcoming for people of both sexes who like a night out with their gay and straight friends, surely?
