Ribbons in the Wild

Saw my first suffragette ribbons with lovely card and slogan in the wild yesterday. In a NT property garden in the south east (won’t say which one as I don’t want those who monitor this board going to remove it).

Gave a lovely feeling of solidarity and reminded me I must prepare some ribbons to put in my bag as I’ve not done any yet.

Ribboning has certainly made me aware of how many CCTV cameras there are where I live.
So I'm exploring fancy dress options 😂

Me too - I think it is hard to over-estimate the support and uplift given to the women who see them.

I tied one at an ancient war memorial last week - 6 yr old didn't even notice

I did notice that ALL my stickers have been removed from our usual 2 hour walk route - for various reasons we hadn't been there in a couple of weeks. My teen & I have new stickers & a plan

These may have found there way to a tree when I was out today ☺️😁

My ribbons lasted just over 3 weeks, they started a discussion on a local FB group - which got lots of likes from women locally and led to me meeting a fellow traveller! I also roped my 80 year old mum into it who tied some ribbons at a few Scottish landmarks. I must do some more though!

I saw some in Leith earlier this week! It really cheered me up - whoever put them there, thank you.

I've seen a set twice in the same place (a pedestrian traffic island in a NW town) - quite a long time apart. And another set in some gardens further NW.

The women's rights purple, white and green tricolour, obviously.

That's clever! I've never met a talking ribbon before.

I haven't seen any ribbons, or worked out a good way to tie them quickly.

I have been stickering though, and I'm reasonably pleased that they seem to mostly be where I put them.

There's one particular place where they seem to vanish as soon as I leave them, but whoever that is, they're missing loads of others very nearby and I know those others will have been seen by lots of people by now.

My ribbon has been up for ages - I'm really pleased. A slate I did lasted several weeks before disappearing so hopefully a decent amount of people saw it.

Was the talking ribbon blue and pink? How very gender stereotyped of it.

Because of my employer I have been to scared to actually participate in stickering and ribboning but I have now reached peak “fuck it” , there are women all over the world who are right now fighting for their very lives, the least I can do is raise awareness of women’s rights.

Is it illegal to put up stickers or ribbons? I’d like to do something to show my support, but I don’t want to get in trouble.

I haven’t done any ribbons but I’ve been stickering for years without any repercussions. The best way to do it is to look like a boring middle aged woman.
