Thanks OP Smile

TooWicked · 08/08/2021 11:17

Interesting that Amazon shows that all the 5 star reviews are verified purchases, and all the 1 star reviews aren’t. Grin

WarOnWoman · 08/08/2021 11:19

Thanks 🙏

ahagwearsapointybonnet · 08/08/2021 11:20

EishetChayil · 08/08/2021 11:49

Bought! Thank you!

MrsOvertonsWindow · 08/08/2021 11:52

It's a very good read. I don't agree with everything she says (faints) but was challenged with some of my own assumptions.

SnoopyLights · 08/08/2021 11:56

I bought the hardback but I've bought the kindle one now as well, thank you.

AntiSocialDistancer · 08/08/2021 12:05

Love my hardback version!

transdimensional · 08/08/2021 12:08

I'm reading it atm. It's not quite as easy a read as Joyce (even though Stock is very easy to read by philosopher standards) but it's really good.
In earlier chapters at least, Stock seems to imply that although TRAs have their own definition of "woman", they have the same (biological) definition of "female" as the rest of us. Of course, sadly this isn't always the case, and both words are being redefined.

The One-Star Reviews, eight of them at time of writing, are pathetic whiney howls devoid of any argument.

"She gets the Equality Act wrong...." (Pray tell us how.)

"Waste of trees" (Not the envirnmentally friendly Kindle edition.)

And frequent demands that nobody must buy and/or read this book.

My leather-jacketted Bradburyesque Trotskyite polytechnic lecturers of old who urged us all to read Conservative historians would be appalled.

DaisiesandButtercups · 08/08/2021 13:31

Thank you StrawberrySquirrelThief Grin

I am looking forward to reading it.

MishyJDI · 08/08/2021 13:34

Oh dear, it's already in the markdown $ basket. Even 99p is too much to pay for a piece of fiction writing. But hey, at least she isn't being silenced! Enjoy!

moofolk · 08/08/2021 13:37

It's worth reading but steel yourself, there's likely to be nothing new in there, and some irritating aspects.

It's not written for people who are already involved in the debate, which is why it's receiving so much ire from a lot of feminists.

But I think if she didn't pull her punches as much as she has, those undecided people it's really written for wouldn't read it.

I'm on the Helen Joyce one now and I think it's much better (so far).

Veeta · 08/08/2021 13:55

Thanks OP, I’d just finished Trans by Helen Joyce and now I have a new book to read!

MajesticWhine · 08/08/2021 14:17

Thanks OP

EightiesRobot · 08/08/2021 16:11

It's an excellent read although not as easy for non-philosophy students to get into as Trans. I'd recommend both but have bought more copies of Trans to pass on to those with an interest but not involved in the discussion.

Chickenyhead · 08/08/2021 17:55

I have this, trans, and irreparable damage.

AfternoonToffee · 08/08/2021 18:09

It's a shame it's on Amazon, oh well I still have Trans to read.

Chickenyhead · 08/08/2021 18:12

Soontobe60 · 08/08/2021 18:18

Just out of interest, if I buy the kindle version, can I read it in my iPad?
