Woman's Hour - again

Ifyourefeelingsinister · 06/08/2021 14:36

Tweet from Woman's Hour this morning about a possible new treatment for 'people who struggle with heavy periods'

It really is something when Woman's hour can't even name women. They are getting proper ratioed in the replies though.

OP posts:

I'm surprised they haven't yet changed the name to Menstruators Hour.

Luckily it's very easy to complain:

TheHandmadeTails · 06/08/2021 14:46

Emma Barnett wrote a book about periods, surely she wouldn’t put up with this?

Melroses · 06/08/2021 14:52

People who ? Hour.

KittenKong · 06/08/2021 15:13

Next week ‘people with protests cancer’

littlbrowndog · 06/08/2021 15:22

Here we are people 🤦‍♀️

Woman's Hour - again
RoseAndGeranium · 06/08/2021 15:23

Omg that’s terrible. They shouldn’t even be talking about menstruation on Woman’s Hour. So damaging for all the women who have been through the menopause or don’t have regular periods or have penises and testicles instead of uteruses. Really sickened to hear of this insensitivity to already marginalised groups. Time they replaced it with Menstruator’s Minute, surely?!?

Or ‘Mens’ Hour’, for short?

334bu · 06/08/2021 15:27

Thanks for that complaints link. Have just complained.

Melroses · 06/08/2021 15:28

They just need to call it "People's Hour", make sure they do not talk about anything that isn't "inclusive" and they will be fine.

Sorted.

The only people who will complain won't exist 🤷‍♀️

KittenKong · 06/08/2021 15:50

I’ve just been listening to gardeners question time. Won’t someone please think of including the builders and painter & decorators?

Vargas · 06/08/2021 15:52

Complaint form done. Not the first, and not very confident it will be the last.

Mycatismadeofstringcheese · 06/08/2021 15:54

It shouldn’t just include trades but must include all hobbies and pastimes: Knitting, cycling, golf and playing the harmonic nose flute.

Any actual gardening content must be flagged with a warning so as not to discriminate against people who don’t have gardens.

KittenKong · 06/08/2021 16:16

I have no garden.

I was a brave little kitten tho’ (may need some counselling later). I did ring them up several times and leave rude messages.

Perfect! Grin

QueenStromba · 06/08/2021 16:44

Maybe they just wanted to include girls and dish by was by to use the word females as it's been coopted by MRA types? Am I being far too generou?

QueenStromba · 06/08/2021 16:45

I don't know what the hell my phone is playing at. Let me try that again.

Maybe they just wanted to include girls and didn't want to use the word females as it's been coopted by MRA types? Am I being far too generous?

Tibtom · 06/08/2021 16:55

Far too generous

Abitofalark · 06/08/2021 18:02

You can email or text Woman's Hour, as they never stop telling us. I have no time for the 'BBC' Complaints unit (actually Capita) with its form filling and laborious process, ending with some standard format response that doesn't address the actual thing you complained about and / or tells you that they are right.

FloralBunting · 06/08/2021 18:04

If they call it 'the menses' they could cover all bases - reference menstruation and be clear about the group they're most concerned with.

FreezerBird · 06/08/2021 18:11

Then say "women and girls who struggle with heavy periods".

Sorted.

(It's nice to see someone else's phone turn on them, I really thought that was just mine.)

FluffyBattleKitten · 06/08/2021 18:20

Done. I wonder if anyone of note actually reads the complaints?
They don't seem to have learned from Twitter, do they?

marplemead · 06/08/2021 19:10

I've also complained.

Babdoc · 06/08/2021 19:15

Anyone got a link? I’m not on Twatter, but I do love to read a nice ratio!

Thanks, Melroses, fab ratio! So encouraging to see the huge pushback against our erasure. Women have had enough of this crap, and resistance is spreading.
