My thread asking about transwomen/transitioning/penises has been deleted.

Why are we not allowed to discuss this? It’s a genuine question and extremely relevant to the debate about transwomen entering female spaces.

There was no abuse of trans people that I could see aside from a few people attempting to derail by saying that they couldn’t see why women might be concerned about having to share their space!

This isn’t right

[quote NecessaryScene]how does one do that? I know what an url is, but which one? And then go onto a website called achive.org and put it in there, is that it?

The URL for the deleted thread, which you should have from your history if you were reading it. The one that now shows the deletion message. Copy that URL in to the Wayback Machine there on archive.org, and it should come straight up. (You'll need to click on the date link).

I'm being coy because I doubt it's okay to link directly to a copy of a deleted thread.

This more general link should show all things archived from Mumsnet today. But it's just sitting there spinning for me at the moment. Confused

Sorry. I don’t understand. What do I put in the search box and how? Not terribly literate… Thanks.

Whatsnewpussyhat · 06/08/2021 19:00

It's so funny that we were sectioned off to the naughty corner because of 'emails' from those who were so offended by all the women championing female rights, that they must have the ability to block an entire board as it was so upsetting, triggering, problematic, mean etc etc etc and yet so many seem to still manage to find themselves here....

We're not allowed to post anything that challenges the narrative by pointing out facts.

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 06/08/2021 19:03

Funnily enough I just came back to the thread to say thank you to NecessaryScene Flowers because her post allowed me to work the way back machine for the very first time (I also hadn't understood that archive is the same thing as the wbm!!) so I can help you out @Mummyoflittledragon Grin

Go to the deleted thread & copy the ulr
Then go to archive.org/
Paste the deleted thread ulr into the search box on archive.org
It says saved one time - click on the date

Jorrris · 06/08/2021 19:16

yet so many seem to still manage to find themselves here

Funny that innit. Did they get lost or can they simply not keep away 🤔

If people are truly interested in this topic then they should consider talking to trans people directly rather than shouting into an echo chamber where the majority of people are not trans, and trans views were not represented

Yet again the belief that women cannot possibly have opinions or feelings of their own and must be told.

Most women here have spoken extensively to trans people, have trans friends. The missed point is that what is discussed here is about women and womens rights and how they are being impacted. Possibly those concerned that women talking about their rights is an echo chamber in need of intervention and instruction by trans people should consider talking to women and listening to a place where women's views are represented.

Because trans views are absolutely everywhere, trans lobbies are consulted in everything and womens voices are not . Women's voices are only allowed in this one place .

So with all respect, fuck off with your belief that women's voices should be replaced by natal male voices and that women should have views only after natal males have told them what they are. Your sexism is jawdropping.

Ninkanink · 06/08/2021 19:42

Quite.

I do not need instruction on what I want or don’t want. I do not need educating on where my boundaries ought to be.

I know what I want and do not want. I know exactly where the line is.

RedDogsBeg · 06/08/2021 19:43

@FloralBunting

WRT males entering female spaces and being able to 'pass' - attempting to do something by stealth when women have said no is not the fucking moral high ground you seem to think it is.
Never ceases to amaze me that they do think it is.
FluffyBattleKitten · 06/08/2021 19:52

Also have no idea of what it feels like to feel genuinely vulnerable if they think women not challenging them means they 'pass' when in reality women are very well practiced at mitigating male violence.

We're smart enough to know that popping the illusion/entitlement bubble can only have bad consequences for us.

The better measure of who 'passes' would be how quickly women scurry out of there-but in a walk, don't run kind of way.

Just a heads up. The ‘p’ word is not approved of.

Chickenyhead · 06/08/2021 20:06

P?

Aaarrrggghhh

I give up

Ninkanink · 06/08/2021 20:07

It is to a mountain what the tip is to a needle...

(Or something)

Chickenyhead · 06/08/2021 20:09

4th word, got it.

Mummyoflittledragon · 06/08/2021 20:13

Yeh you’ll probably get a strike for that. I did when I didn’t realise it wasn’t ok.

Report it yourself, explain that you were unaware of this and ask mods to remove the post. You can then repost without the sin included.
Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 06/08/2021 20:27

@Chickenyhead

What I don't understand, is how there are people on this thread vilifying posters for surmised the reasons a transwoman may keep their tackle, because women don't know how it feels to be trans.

However, it's OK than men know how it feels to be a woman in identifying themselves to be trans.

So one side can subsume the feelings of the other, without actual knowledge, but the other side must be silent.

Is this not the biggest double standard?

Nail on head.
YetAnotherSpartacus · 06/08/2021 20:38

The mods have been strangely silent thus far. I’m suspicious.

Blibbyblobby · 06/08/2021 20:39

Yep...same double standard as the one that says it's OK for TW to redefine womanhood based on their experience of gender identity but not OK for natal females to define it based on ours.

Mulletsaremisunderstood · 06/08/2021 20:52

Welcome to the upsidedown Chickenyhead Wink.

Waitwhat23 · 06/08/2021 21:10

@BanditoShipman the second one. Mountaineers might use it. The word which must not be named on here....

Ereshkigalangcleg · 06/08/2021 21:14

I'd imagine people who feel strongly on the other side of this debate are quite happy to see the controversial posts stay up and screenshot them as they see fit.

I think this isn't borne out by the number of perfectly innocuous posts which are sometimes deleted.

ChoosandChipsandSealingWax · 06/08/2021 21:16

@YetAnotherSpartacus

The sad thing about the Spartacus threads is when I read the names of posters who I got to know and know have been banned from MN for wrongthink even though these were women who were here because they needed support, or who gave support to others over or about issues experienced by women as a social group. They were rarely if ever actually offensive - they just thought and said the wrong thing according to a demographic that is not even core to MN but who monitor and patrol us inciting others to censor our speech. .
Thank you for reposting the link to the Spartacus threads. They were before I roamed mountains and naughty steps here (I’ve been on for years for special needs and the odd AIBU entertainment, but I naively thought women’s rights were sorted and feminism a little quaintly old-fashioned…).

Poignant reading. Thank you, all you brave Spartaci, for standing with women and girls Flowers
