Posie on Talk Radio this evening

KJK was on Talk radio yesterday (starts at 53.40 on this clip) and the host (Kevin O'Sullivan)was really pushing her on pronouns for Laurel Hubbard, which KJ was not budging on. (I was already cross with the him for repeatedly saying Transwomen and cis women leading in to the segment!)

KJK has put on Facebook that she is back on this evening - it would appear that Kevin O'Sullivan has found someone from the trans side to have a live debate with KJK (don't know who, though, or if they are an ally or a TRA or a regular TW). Also, there is not a time given on the Standing for Women page, and annoyingly, I will be out this evening, so won't be able to to listen live.

I'd not seen it mentioned here yet, but thought it might make for an interesting listen.

@GrandmaMazur

I would be curious to know how Tatchell proposes to stop the ‘unreformed’ predatory transwomen from entering women’s spaces.
I thought that too. I said out loud 'how the hell would you police that, Peter?!'
somethinginoffensive · 04/08/2021 20:48

The stuff about the feminists campaigning against the Miss World contests was ridiculous. I bet many things have changed since the early 70s.

It was rather ridiculous for Tatchell to speak for the women's liberation movement, just as it was for him to represent Women's services. He is though a well-practiced media operator.

So presumably he is against male sex offenders, who identify as women, being housed in the female estate and isn't that transphobic?

Presumably everyone just consents in a live and let live sort of way and Hey Presto! - no more sexual offences.
Melroses · 04/08/2021 21:00

Just in the same way that men are women if we just let it happen, they are all the same after all.

Or something.

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 04/08/2021 21:03

Astonishing when one thinks that Tatchell has only recently seen fit to address his actions in the late 1990s:

“So presumably he is against male sex offenders, who identify as women, being housed in the female estate and isn't that transphobic?“

Well, who knows? I think he just said a few things that might sound reasonable to people who don’t know much about the issue who might think “oh well, it’s ok then because the bad ones won’t be able to get in” without realising there’ll be no way to stop them or to tell them apart from all the nice ones “who’ve been doing it for years with no problem”

lifeissweet · 04/08/2021 21:07

The questions he failed to answer at all were as telling as the ones he deliberately lied about.

'What does it mean to live as a woman?' Silence...

GrandmaMazur · 04/08/2021 21:10

Also it annoyed me that the presenter pointed out that he would not misgender a transwoman by calling them he but then kept saying ‘cis’ woman even though he was quite aware that many women find it offensive - “I’ll get into trouble for saying this”. Why bloody say it then?

Anotheruser02 · 04/08/2021 21:11

She was brilliant. I wish they gave her more time.

Oh yes totally. Angry

I wish KJKM had left that question hanging and made him answer it.

I thought she was very good - very composed, calm and knew what she was talking about - but I think she tried to fit in too many points. The points she made were all good but it (a) meant Tatchell could ignore the question 'how does one live as a woman' and (b) meant he had the last word on children with gender dysphoria. I rather wish she'd spent the time on highlighting Hubbard's decision to take up women's weightlifting in middle age after a 17-year hiatus and a serious injury rather than bringing in a separate topic at the last minute.

However, what she said was excellent and it's great there was actually a debate on TalkRadio.

somethinginoffensive · 04/08/2021 21:20

I agree with your points edge, but when you compare the professional campaigner who has been doing it for 50 years against a sharp woman talking sensibly, I think think she really held her own.

EdgeOfACoin · 04/08/2021 21:23

Oh, she definitely held her own!

Toseland · 04/08/2021 21:23

er - how much time did Mr Tatchell have compared to Ms Keen?! And as you say - it started and ended on him. His old anecdotes wasting the time. I think his untruths need pointing out somehow. Well done KJK - next time bloody interrupt him!

PronounssheRa · 04/08/2021 21:24

It was frustrating that tatchell got so much more airtime to talk, compared to KJ, but talk radio have chosen one of KJs most powerful points to highlight on their twitter feed.

This trans movement is creating little girls across the US with double mastectomies as young as 12. We are slicing off the breasts of girls every day

Tatchell claims he is unaware of this but that trans people go through a rigorous assessment before any treatment. I think Tatchell needs to educate himself.

Onthebrink87 · 04/08/2021 21:24

Peter "love and let love" Tatchell. May as well have been a wind up toy, full of quotes and tropes without any rebuttal to any of KJs arguments.

Anotheruser02 · 04/08/2021 21:25

He did waste a lot of time, I think she did well not to interrupt, she will be more likely to be invited back again.

endofthelinefinally · 04/08/2021 21:30

Mendacity personified.

ShamelessCurtainTwitcher · 04/08/2021 21:48

Where does Tatchell propose those unreformed offenders try on clothes then? Will there be a third space for them? Will they have to wear a label on their pronoun pin so we know they haven’t “deemed safe” by the powers that be?

BettyFilous · 04/08/2021 22:52

PT sounded woefully uninformed and not up to date on recent research about treatment outcomes or the reality of the situation/services on the ground. I thought Posie would pick him up on the refuge anecdote & that surveying current users won’t capture the views of women who self-select out of the service if they cannot be guaranteed a male-free environment, but the interviewer allowed so much PT waffle the discussion had moved on. I think Posie did a good job with the limited time she had. PT is either woefully ignorant of the issues or a mendacious twerp, both of which make him an unsuitable spokesperson on this issue.

OhHolyJesus · 04/08/2021 23:03

Is PT trans now? I thought Kevin said he would get a trans person on to debate Posie. Guess they were all scared of ...words.

PT really wasn't the right choice for the subject matter, PP did well not to lose her dinner on the sight of him. I do detest that man.

Imnobody4 · 04/08/2021 23:08

Haven't had chance to listen yet but according to twitter
Peter Tatchell just referred to women as 'un-trans women'.
twitter.com/Wommando/status/1423002639252459528?s=19

Really?

LMNybjy744 · 04/08/2021 23:19

Yes he did say that
