Has anyone seen this- the photo certainly seem to glamourise chest binding. I’m really shocked even allowing for it being daily Mail- how do you get them to take down pictures

And I assume you are an adult and not a school child needing to participate in PE, walk to and from school carrying a heavy backpack and all the other activities my 15 year old is required to do.

I cannot believe people write the potential damage off as ‘just like a ill fitting bra’ or ‘wearing a sports bra’. When a child’s charity needs to put out warnings in summer so children don’t suffer breathing issues and other heat related illnesses caused by wearing a binder, do you not think that there is something wrong ? No bra charity needs to do that.

We have PE teachers on threads about this saying that the girls can’t do PE with binders, and then posters (yesterday) saying that is ok, maybe those girls don’t want to do PE anyway, as if it is acceptable.

What you and your partner choose for your bodies is absolutely your business. Please stop saying this is ok for growing children to see as harmless and normalized.

Yes I am an adult as is Emma Corrin. Nowhere in her post did she advocate it for children. I doubt children are the target audience for the Crown or clearly her rather adult Instagram.

NiceGerbil · 07/07/2021 11:12

'. I wouldn’t be stupid enough to sleep in one, go to the gym or conduct manual labor in one '

So those who do are stupid? That's a lovely sentiment.

Of course this is about girls. You don't think images like this get around? Especially amongst girls who share or seek out things about binding.

Plenty of schoolgirls bind. That's the whole point. If adults want to do whatever then it's not great but up to them.

The rise of this practice amongst girls is a problem.

Just brushing it off may make you feel better but it doesn't help anything does it.

I've not seen the crown btw. It sounds like the sort of thing secondary school girls might watch with their families? Or is it full of explicit sex. I have no idea tbh

@Peoniesandpeaches
As Emma Corrin is an Instagram user and is non-binary (going by references she made in that post), she’ll be well aware that there is a HUGE amount of stuff about being trans and how to be trans on Instagram. And that many of the accounts interested in this are under 18s. It could be said to be a breeding ground. My friend’s early teen DD became trans in lockdown and a huge influence on her for that was Instagram. She binds and found out about it from IG.

Peoniesandpeaches

And yet she is well known amongst my teens group- all on Instagram. They are children still.

And her photos are on mainstream media.

Again. Do what you want with your body. This person is glamorizing binding and it is being seen by teens. That is what this entire thread is about.

Summerleaves · 07/07/2021 11:20

There are tons of 'squeeee' type fan accounts for her on Twitter etc

She should know she's a magnet for teen girls.

She's thinspo by another name

Exactly.

I watched this in action myself. A whole group of them.

Realista · 07/07/2021 11:39

It’ll be interesting to know how much her Instagram following has gone up by, since that photo.

It’s got a lot more likes than her other recent photos, bar the one with Harry Styles in.

Yes. Mainly she's just another woman who doesn't like her body and doesn't like the expectations society places on her because of her body. Welcome to the club.

The Independent is now carrying the story if people don't want to click on the DM link

I don’t buy that anyone has a healthy relationship with food

Really? She doesn't sound like someone with a very wide experience of life or a varied social circle.

I know a few people who have eating disorders, and a lot more who are endlessly dieting or researching different types of eating or who overeat for various reasons. But I also know a very large number of people who just eat a reasonable quantity of reasonably healthy food, which they enjoy while they're eating it, but don't have 'a relationship' with it. I don't think those people are at all unusual.
