Looks like Helem Webberley's substantive case has finally been listed for 26th July 2021

Bloody hell.

Silly question I'm sure but is any of the info on the thread going to be part of this tribunal? (I'm thinking about the child cases too.)

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 27/07/2021 12:37

If I was a SHL in this case then I'd be smart enough to have a look at what R0wantrees was putting up on MN.

She's like a voluntary paralegal. SHL's know where to find good resources. As do Baroness Nicholson's assistants. Seems to me that many of the Green, SNP, Labour and Lib Dem elected representatives are not quite smart enough to read what is being provided for them for free. More fool them.

Thanks for your efforts, R0. I'm sure this is taxing work for you and I am sure that many kids and adults with gender issues will benefit from you pulling all this information together. You are throwing in so many pebbles you're not making ripples in this murky pond, but creating a tsunami.

I'll second what viva says - our very own walking encyclopaedia 👍

Thirded!

CardinalLolzy · 27/07/2021 13:21

Has much of substance happened in the hearing yet? Hard to get a handle on it atm as it's mainly been about what is admissible and what the charge(?) is?

RedDogsBeg · 27/07/2021 13:29

I had a look at the tweets today and I have no idea what is going on or what they are talking about. Short tweets can't give context or explanation of the legal argument which is frustrating, maybe an end of day summary of what has happened with more depth would be better.

DanialWebb · 27/07/2021 14:04

There’s little happening at the moment. Yesterday was argument over the evidence, today is argument over the allegations. The hope is to call the first witness tomorrow. Our attendee at the trial today is writing short recaps at the end of each session.

RedDogsBeg · 27/07/2021 14:35

Thanks @DanialWebb. I found the tweets early on today very confusing, however, the later tweets were clearer and I think (!) I got the gist of what was happening/being argued over. Found the ones about a particular patient very concerning.

Signalbox · 27/07/2021 15:52

Hopefully they’ll publish the heads of charge once they’re agreed. Might make it easier to follow along. Once the experts / witnesses start giving their evidence things will become much clearer.

[quote LizzieSiddal]The trial has been mentioned in the DM today.

That seems to be a pretty comprehensive article. I wonder why charges relate to so few clients?

It's made the BBC Radio 4 six o'clock news.

That's a lot of stuff to pack into a short period of time. (The time covering the alleged incidents)

“He sought to include in evidence testimonials in support of Dr Webberley, saying: “The allegation is that she was acting outside her competence or should have known she was acting outside her competence.

Mr Stern said the testimonials - or “journey records” - showed how patients had contacted her for help to get treatment, had informed her in terms of her level of competence and demonstrated her approach with patients.”

So interesting that her husband seems to have developed a business model of doing searches on forums to find customers for a range of drugs…

Lots of people have body dysphoria. I spent years hating my breasts, thinking they were the wrong size, despite them supplying plentiful milk for 3 babies. It's really not uncommon. Gender is often just a handy hook to hang those feelings on because it just isn't fashionable to dislike your body just because of how it looks. Children need to be taught that most people dislike their body at some point or another. Most people feel uncomfortable with the changes they experience at puberty. It isn't rare and it isn't strange.

Absolutely agree with this. I still have it now, I just ignore it. There are other things in life.
rogdmum · 28/07/2021 08:03

It is quite the list of allegations.

Latest from Glinner via Danial Webb:

'Jaw-dropping' failures at Mermaidss*
from a thread by Danial Webb

Jaw dropping, serious and enduring child safeguarding failures at Mermaids. Their online youth forum is a mess of no ID checks, inappropriate age group mixing, and non-existent moderation or action over evidence of harmful behaviour.

Access to the forum requires no ID checks, meaning no age checks. The application form also demands children as young as 12 provide a private email address not even their parents can access.

Once the “child” has access to the forum, they are able to send private messages to children as young as 12. Even if everyone is who they say they are, allowing 19 yr olds access to 12 yr olds is an unnecessary safeguarding failure, as seen in the nature of forum discussions.

I will not share the screenshots I have seen, but in the forum moderators rarely intervene when children discuss risky behaviour. A discussion about lying to a GP to secure prescriptions is met with no intervention.

Teenagers openly discuss self-medication with no blood tests, again in front of children as young as 12, with no intervention from moderators.

There are frequent threads recommending GenderGP, again with no intervention.
