I'm worried that a mention of his latest email hasn't been posted here already for comment is because it isn't welcome. But it's so incredibly funny that I'm now giving him money to keep up his work. And it peaked my best friend. She loves the gender critical cat.

I'm loving his work this week. Very funny.

Tesla73 · 30/06/2021 08:40

I highly recommend his Youtube channel too - the Mess We're In discussions are excellent

ScreamingMeMe · 30/06/2021 08:53

Eh? Yes Glinner and posts about his substack are welcome here. He sometimes pops in here too.

JoodyBlue · 30/06/2021 09:42

This is satire which until the past 5 years has held an important and healthy role in our democracy. Many comedians making the point that there is no funny comedy any more. So this I would say is very very welcome. Being able to laugh at ourselves matters. Glinner is a massive supporter of women.

JoodyBlue · 30/06/2021 09:43

Not sure why it isn't appearing here. Maybe you need to subscribe to his substack.

This episode was excellent with very good points raised

Always been a big fan of James Dreyfuss and that admiration has only increased with how he has dealt with the treatment he has received.

I recommend Mrmenno channel too - he is the one with Helen Staniland and his videos are spot on

He truly does need help. So obsessed with this stuff. It's become unhealthy.

AlfonsoTheMango · 30/06/2021 11:58

I am a fan of Glinner and appreciate his support for women's rights.

You know what's also unhealthy? A teenager believing that chopping off bits of her body and embarking on a lifelong regime of medication - when she doesn't have a physical illness. That's unhealthy.

Glinner standing up for women's rights, completely healthy.

porkincider · 30/06/2021 12:03

Is that picture by Glinner? I thought it was by someone else and Glinner just often shares his work on his Substack. I’m very pleased if it is Glinner though as that means he follows me on Twitter.

Far unhealthier to watch safeguards for women and children being destroyed, and the medical transitioning of children and adults don't you think. I think Glinner does a great job of raising awareness.

yeahbutnaw · 30/06/2021 12:24

It's surprising that so many "gender critical" people want him as a mascot for their ideology.

You'd think there'd be a more appropriate representative (maybe a woman?) who is a little less unhinged.

porkincider · 30/06/2021 12:35

It seems to be TRA’s who are always keen to announce that he’s the GC leader or mascot. In reality he’s just doing what many women have done and lost out massively in terms of employment for speaking out against some of the extremes of TRA ideology. He’s absolutely consistent, has a large reach and seems to be a thoroughly decent guy, coming at it from an angle of nothing other than concern for women. Personally I think sometimes he goes a bit far and I’m not sure mocking appearances of TW is entirely helpful and he’s pretty quick to dismiss anyone who doesn’t agree with him on things like this.

In terms of influence and just calm, decent and genuinely concerned reason I think of women such as JK Rowling and Chimamanda Ngozie Adiche much more as figureheads of this movement. Of course the TRA logic is rooted in misogyny so it makes sense that whenever a male speaks they automatically assign him the role of leader though.

Ha some predictable nonsense from the usual suspects. Nobody, least of all Glinner himself, claims he is a mascot for anything. He's just a principled man who cannot believe the mess we're in and is prepared to keep publicising the problems despite being lied about repeatedly.

The Mess We're In series, and his Substack are incredibly useful resources; strong female voices are given a platform there too.

Hmm You know when you read a message before you look at the username and just know it's going to be one of about three people who post the same stuff over and over again...

I agree - I havent been on here long but am already clocking the usual posters who jump on threads like this

I have to keep checking i've not clicked on FB or Twitter by accident

It's true that "this stuff" hasn't been good to his wellbeing - he's sacrificed a lot when he could have just looked out for himself.

And yes, he truly does need help - there aren't anywhere near enough male allies speaking up for women like Graham does.

peadarm · 30/06/2021 13:08

He's neither a mascot nor a representative, that's your perception.

But there is a difference in way male allies are treated compared to women: TRAs don't threaten to rape and sexually abuse Glinner. They don't invite him to on their girl dicks or call him misogynistic names. That abuse is reserved for women.

The Friday consultation things he has been part of, with Baroness Nicolson chairing, gave been interesting too. The next one has Jess de Wahls on who was fantastically clear and sensible on Mess We're In.

His mailouts are really varied, and credit to the rest of the team who contribute too. It's the sort of journalism that should be happening elsewhere but isn't so I'm all the more glad of their work.
And the Mess We Are in and interviews are great. I'm looking forward to seeing Marion Millar's appearance. Although course she shouldn't need to be appearing to talk about what's happening to her because in a saner world it would not be happening.
