The Royal Academy have removed Jess' work from their shop due to a handful of complaints that she's 'transphobic'. If you want to support Jess her website is here.

So sick of these utterly craven organisations. I hope she has a legal case against them for discrimination.

@RaindropsOnRosie

Using the 'You can't change sex' argument to cover for your transphobia does make you vile. How very silly to think otherwise.
How does one change sex?
Cailleach1 · 21/06/2021 18:30

From Viol et Elizabeth in Just William.

'If you don't convert to my beliefs after i've thcreamed, then I'll call you made up names, 'cos I have such sound arguments'. (just from me)

What other material facts is it phobic to point out?
NancyDrawed · 21/06/2021 18:31

Stating reality is vile??

Please can you explain why accepting that some people are trans while also knowing - and stating publicly - that in reality (not legally or socially) it is impossible to change sex, is transphobic.

teawamutu · 21/06/2021 18:33

[quote PurgatoryOfPotholes]Jess's patches are out of stock and she must be totally overwhelmed with organising postage of orders at the moment.

If you enjoy embroidery, you can order a digital download of this sewing pattern, and she won't have to do any posting!

I want this kit but it's sold out: www.jessdewahls.com/embroidery-kits/-diy/poppy-embroidery-kit

(I know I'm missing the point and she'd have to post it, but it's gorgeous.)

Datun · 21/06/2021 18:34

Honestly, what the hell are they teaching kids at school!

Do these people genuinely think a human being can change sex???

Fact: Human beings cannot change sex

Stating a fact is not vile and nor is it a cover for anything.

The only silliness and vileness is coming from you, @RaindropsOnRosie.

Etinox · 21/06/2021 18:41

Off topic, but @teawamutu’s Just William reference reminded me of a brilliant meme I saw here of a harassed looking women holding a tantruming toddler. The woman’s labelled LBG and the toddler TQ- does anyone have a link to it?

Totally disagree. You can, for example, Support Trans people's rights to be Trans. Fight against prejudice and discrimination against Trans people. Be kind Like and admire many Trans people for whatever is likeable and admirable about them Love your Trans child Be a Trans person Employ a Trans person Cuddle up on the sofa and share a tub of Quality Street etc and a range of other things that demonstrate an absence of phobia, all whilst observing that sex is sex and gender is gender, that they are different, and that sex matters, and that however you live within gender, your sex does not change.

It's easy.

Cowbells · 21/06/2021 18:44

'You can't change sex' is NOT a cover for transphobia, even if you want it to be because the women you long to bully and hate won't play fair and say hideous, cruel, transphobic things to justify the gleeful, violent and decimating vitriol that they are subjected to for simply stating the truth.

Look up DARVO, @RaindropsOnRosie. It will explain a lot.

If you want to define "transphobia" to cover the commonplace beliefs of 90+% of the population, supported by the courts now they're seeing sense, then knock yourself out. Just bear in mind you're heading down a route that eventually everyone will abandon.

UpTheJunktion · 21/06/2021 18:52

Anyone got time to trawl through the SM accounts and PR statements, interviews etc, of the RA Academicians (127 artists) who run the RA, and check for allegedly unacceptable material across a range of issues?

Do each and every one of them, for example, make sure that their supply chains for materials comply with the RA Policy on Modern Slavery? (at least they have a published policy on that - censorship / free expression seems not to be worthy of a policy)

This isn't just going away for the RA.

This is a brilliant comment. Does anyone know who the leader writer is for the Evening Standard have the written anything GC before or are they coming from a free speech point of view.

I am going to get one of Jess’s embroidery kits for my mum for her birthday. She is in a textile art group. If Jess was to do any webinars where she talks about her work I am sure they would be very popular as my mum has been to loads of things like that in lockdown.

TimeStandStill · 21/06/2021 19:36

Discussion on GBnews now. With Katy Jon Went.

TimeStandStill · 21/06/2021 19:42

Only caught the end of the discussion on GBnews by chance. Katy seemed to be emphasising the need for people with different opinions on all kind of controversial topics to talk together in a non-confrontational way and try to understand each other.

RaindropsOnRosie · 21/06/2021 20:38

The way you all jumped to defend yourselves is very telling. If you're not using it as a cover, you have nothing to worry about! Very silly.

Good lord. You do think humans can change sex. No-one needs to 'defend' reality.
TheElementsSong · 21/06/2021 20:42

Ooh, are we going to get an "education" on human biology? I love this sort of thing!

Well there's nothing like a reasoned and eloquent debate. Confused

You seem to think your random and goady non-sequiturs comprise some kind of intelligent discussion.

They don't

I suggest we don't feed it

Bloody hypocrite. Women tried that. They were told time and time again "no debate" and silenced at every possible turn. Kept out of Parliamentary discussion on the GRC, had their meetings (to which trans people were invited) noisily picketed, deplatformed from universities, shouted down and threatened with rape and death on social media. Where has Katy been hiding to miss this these last couple of years? Why is Katy only speaking now, why wasn't Katy suggesting calm debate after JKR, for example?

Apparently, Michael Cashman has been complaining that nobody has been willing to debate this matter. Another hypocrite. Glinner has invited him onto The Mess We're In to have a one on one with Arty. I wonder if he will take up the offer. Won't hold my breath.

Yes silly wimmin. So vile. Can't believe they're allowed to exist.

Do you have nothing better than name calling?

DialSquare · 21/06/2021 20:46

I know the debating calibre of the TWAW brigade has always been shit but this is really scraping the barrel. Ironic really that it's on the day the board has been renamed as a place to debate.

OvaHere · 21/06/2021 20:47

Apparently, Michael Cashman has been complaining that nobody has been willing to debate this matter.

Simon Fanshawe has been asking for a few years now and presumably they know each other fairly well as two Stonewall founders.
