The Royal Academy have removed Jess' work from their shop due to a handful of complaints that she's 'transphobic'. If you want to support Jess her website is here.

So sick of these utterly craven organisations. I hope she has a legal case against them for discrimination.

I believe it'll be worth tuning into the Today programme on Radio 4 tomorrow morning for more on this, and an interview with Jess herself.

I wonder if Justin Webb will do it, and if they'll have to get someone else 'for balance.' I imagine Jane Fae is dusting off Jane's knitting, being quite the textile artist Janeself.

I'm v senior in a comms role and I've spent the weekend advising my board and exec committee on how we are going to avoid getting caught out in this way (easy - we are dumping stonewall, checking the legal language of every single policy and we are protecting women's sex based rights).

Brava! (o?)
BraveBananaBadge · 20/06/2021 22:46

Dorian Lynskey wading in - can't recall if he's done anything like this before? A quick scroll sees him supporting CNA this week but not sure before that.

Jess said on twitter that they're not putting anyone up against her. I do hope Justin Webb does the interview.

DdraigGoch · 20/06/2021 23:03

@JRKismyhero

I imagine their PR dept are working overtime to sort this enormous fuck up out
Judging by their silence, I'd imagine that they have in fact just returned from a holiday in India and are still locked in a hotel.

And not saying - as seems to be the way these days - “oh let wee blue haired Jenny the intern manage the social media. These young uns know it better than us don’t they? How much harm can then do?”

Yes, it's been interesting seeing what he's been saying the last few weeks/months. There were a few hints on another topic, can't remember what now - perhaps the Maya appeal, saying it was a fair outcome or something? And this cancel culture madness (although that's totally his wheelhouse): slate.com/culture/2021/06/elin-hilderbrand-casey-mcquiston-antisemitism-israel-social-media.html

Flippin · 21/06/2021 07:37

I believe at about 7.50am, in 10 mins or so…

highame · 21/06/2021 07:45

thanks Endoplas I now remember but hadn't realised the phrase was now outlawed.

toffeebutterpopcorn · 21/06/2021 07:51

nauticant · 21/06/2021 07:51

Now being covered on the Today programme on Radio 4. She's being interviewed.

Diaryofamadwoman · 21/06/2021 07:52

On R4 Today now

BraveBananaBadge · 21/06/2021 07:57

Today said they asked the RA to come on and they did not respond!

BlackeyedSusan · 21/06/2021 07:58

listening

they had 8 complaints they needed to investigate.

the useles ness of followers wseding complaints would result in a social media slinging match (J)

you also write that humans can not change sex, what would you write to people who have transitionaed and gonme throuhg ssurgery

I have compassion but I can not make myself believe something that is not true....

I do not exist to validate people

those were flower patches and ovaries giving the middle finger, my work is feminist...

I went ahead and did stuff with them because it is such a big institution and maybe they would not be swayed by the socail media...

now mentioning Maya

Jess wants an apology

they contaced me the day after they had posted it on social media., there was no point to that conversation.

if you don't get that apology do you thing you will have a recourse inlaw?

I might do.

My inbox and feedback from the general public...

they will have to talk eventually

our invition for them to come on the programme remains...

nauticant · 21/06/2021 07:58

Apparently trans activists within the trans community were approached to go on the programme but decided against putting forward their version:

toffeebutterpopcorn · 21/06/2021 07:58

In hiding. Or running around in circles with their hair on fire.

Maybe they shouldn’t listen to 8 randoms on social media...

ProfessorInkling · 21/06/2021 07:59

The RA have been entirely silent on this and ignored the request to go on the programme with Jess.

BlackeyedSusan · 21/06/2021 07:59

sorry, lots missing, can only type so fast and can only rememember so muchg

Flippin · 21/06/2021 08:00

RA is in deep trouble over this. I won’t be renewing my membership for starters. Or ever the way this is going.

BraveBananaBadge · 21/06/2021 08:02

"Why can't a programme about the day's news agenda plan further ahead for meeeeee" jeez these people aren't very smart are they

More unfathomable is the RA turning them down, really not a good look.

Kitkatchunkyplease · 21/06/2021 08:02

I thought she sounded really reasonable on r4. 'since when was the fact that you have a biological sex an opinion' (or something to that effect)
Well done to her.

TedImgoingmad · 21/06/2021 08:02

JDW needs to speak more. She was bloody brilliant. Very clear and said what we should all be saying - since when was stating biological fact controversial? And was very clear we should not be forced to believe TWAW. Fabulous woman. Will be off to spend some money in her shop.

Mishal Hussein sounded hostile/stressed by the interview to me.
