How dare they?

Their job is to exhibit ART not act as the moral police for the public.

Do they not credit their gallery visitors with any intelligence or values of their own?

Art is about people exploring the world through different viewpoints and encountering different interpretations and visions.

Disgraceful for an arts organisation to act like this. It strikes at the heart of their purpose.

They have discredited themselves very badly.

Maybe.

There are over 120 Academicians with responsibility for the governance / management of the RA so I imagine there is a huge communication task to get them all to address and agree a way forward.

Meanwhile....

What about a HERETIC visit to the RA?

Once our Heretic patches arrive, or maybe we could make 'tribute' patches, we could visit en masse. I realise the galleries aren't a free for all atm but the courtyard is.

It really is. I don't know if anyone else is the same, but it took me a moment to see the pencil drawing part. So it was even more powerful as I came to it gradually.

Highame I saw your post that was deleted, you used a phrase which is now banned. We don't know it's banned because there isn't a list of banned phrases, because that "wouldn't be helpful" or something, but if you use this phrase in your post it will be deleted. Think mountainy thoughts.

The RA needs to read up and remind themselves of Entartete Kunst - they’ve just instigated the modern equivalent.

Surely if a group of women were to suddenly find themselves in the courtyard doing something as innocuous as a little embroidery to a pattern devised by a contemporary artist such as Jess De Wahl, Kelly White or the famous artist known as … or even plaiting three differently coloured ribbons together, perhaps they might be wearing their favourite t shirts or a badge then there would be nothing much wrong with that would there? You may be able to go into the shop without buying a ticket , but I haven’t been for ages. If someone were to suggest this happened on a weekend in the near future, I might take a trip to London

Another purchaser from her shop - pretty little broach of my definitely female bits that I can wear with pride. This ridiculous censorship meant I discovered a new artist who makes both beautiful & interesting objects. Hopefully she will financially benefit from a surge in direct sales thanks to the RA's cowardly behaviour.

Following this with interest. I am lucky enough to have a commissioned piece by Jess. She is a genius.

News is reporting that Nicola Williams, the founder of Fair Play for Women, has reported the Royal Academy to the Equality and Human Rights Commission. She’s asked them to investigate a possible breach of the Equality Act because “removing Jess De Wahl’s work from the market base on her protected beliefs is a clear infringement of her rights under the Equality Act”.

You used to be able to get into the shop but these days they check that you have a booked ticket before you enter the building. The courtyard is open the outside, and a has a coffee stall.

I have managed comms departments in the city - Lord if that was one of my staff they’d behave left the country by now. Actually there’s no way I’d let anyone drive the social media accounts who wasn’t absolutely trustworthy and word perfect.
