So sick of these utterly craven organisations. I hope she has a legal case against them for discrimination.

I'm thinking of tweeting the CEO Axel Ruger @axelruger

He seems to be fairly active on Twitter so there's a chance he will see the message.

Here's an interview with him.in which he says

For what it's worth I work in a large company and anything negative that reaches our CEO is acted on fast.

That's a very promising statement, and with that in mind he'd have to be a massive hypocrite or just a raving misogynist - yes, there are disappointingly lots of them revealing themselves on this issue - to not support Jess de Wahls on the basis of freedom of speech and just basically stating reality. I don't bother with Twitter, but a quick google shows me his email is: [email protected] so I think I'll send him a message.

It's interesting how, as with the Chimananda essay, people who were fence sitters now seem to be coming more to one side. I'm not sure whether it's down to these individual artists or evidence of a wider change.

The Times article is OK. Bit bland. It doesn't highlight the rank hypocrisy of them happily stocking actively violent misogynist artists while trashing the career of a not especially well-known feminist with an opinion.

I can't believe the top brass have been silent on this. 8 tweets and they call an artist transphobic and remove her art from the shop.

Multiple pretty critical broad sheet articles, that incredible twitter thread, hundreds of complaints and nothing. Zilch. Nada.

That it happened to begin with, bad enough, how they have handled it is totally shocking.

Hopefully this means that they are going to come out with a comprehensive, considered statement. A knee jerk reaction didn't serve them well initially - maybe they have learned from that.
