Scotland needs a new suffragette movement - Scotsman

Susan Dalgety in the Scotsman

'what started as a controversial position in a few liberal American universities is now mainstream thinking in the Scottish government. And no dissent, it seems, is allowed.

Women who argue that biology is real and that our sex is the basis of inequality are dismissed as bigots'

The SNP are running what is now virtually a single party police state up here.
There is no freedom of speech and women face two years in prison (potentially sharing a cell with a male rapist) for daring to state biological facts or defend our right to single sex spaces.

SnowAndIcicles · 05/06/2021 08:57

I also ordered some ribbons yesterday.

ArabellaScott · 05/06/2021 09:04

I look forward to seeing ribbons all over the place. Though I am of course not inciting haberdashery.

If I were in Scotland, I would be tying ribbons everywhere. This is nightmarish.

ArabellaScott · 05/06/2021 09:26

Check out this gorgeous artwork - I mean appalling hate crime:

I have also ordered some ribbons!

AdHominemNonSequitur · 05/06/2021 09:41

I wonder how much it costs to hire a cherry picker to get some hateful haberdashery high up and inconvenient to move.

Seems like my stickers are too subtle these days Grin

Did some digging for MBM this morning- they're looking to continue their fabulous work

I too have ribbons.

coodawoodashooda · 05/06/2021 10:59

What ribbons?
I think the argument is that being a woman is a biological fact? Am I correct? And, now to state otherwise is a hate crime. Have I hit the jist? Honestly. Ffs. You couldn't make this nonsense up. Are we 'allowed' to wear these ribbons at work?

coodawoodashooda · 05/06/2021 11:06

Oh. Now I see. I am in Scotland. I can't tie ribbons everywhere
Quite simply, I need my job.

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 05/06/2021 11:07

I can't speak for would but mine are bog standard crossgrain ribbons in purple white & green

It's the other way around - stating biological facts (such as women don't have penises) seems to be considered a hate crime in some quarters.

I have bought ribbons.Shocking really, I wasn't even asked for a license when I purchased such dangerous items.

When Linda Bellos wore a suffragette colour pocket square to a (relevant) court case in which she was a defendant, the plaintiff complained of being intimidated by the colours.

Appearing in the dock, Bellos wore a suffragette-themed pocket square, although many of her supporters were made to remove similarly coloured sashes at the entrance.

One supporter in the gallery also wore a T-shirt stating the definition of a woman as an “adult human female,” leading Kendal to make an application for the symbols to be removed as contempt of court.

However, District Judge Richard Blake threw out the request, saying that “people are free to wear what they want.”

A supporter of Kendal, Vicky Jane, told PinkNews that… she feels that the suffragette movement is being appropriated to exclude trans women.

Dangerous Coats

Someone clever once said
Women were not allowed pockets
In case they carried leaflets
To spread sedition
Which means unrest
To you & me
A grandiose word
For commonsense
Fairness
Kindness
Equality
So ladies, start sewing
Dangerous coats
Made of pockets & sedition
