Susan Dalgety in the Scotsman

'what started as a controversial position in a few liberal American universities is now mainstream thinking in the Scottish government. And no dissent, it seems, is allowed.

Women who argue that biology is real and that our sex is the basis of inequality are dismissed as bigots'

I ordered a load of ribbons the day I read that Marion Millar had been charged.

Wanted to order a suffragette colours pin too but they were all sold out when I looked.

Shimmyshimmycocobop · 05/06/2021 16:20

I've ordered some too and booked a day off from work to attend Airdrie Court to show some support for Marion.

I have to be careful with my job too but just can't watch this from the sidelines anymore.

Cailin66 · 05/06/2021 16:26

Where can one buy a suffragette pin and sash online. Obviously I can buy colored ribbons but I'd prefer something more made up.

According to FOI requests, the Scottish Government has spent £250k on Stonewall in two years. No wonder we're being so thoroughly screwed.

When are we holding a march? A protest? I want haberdashery all over this bloomin' country and I want to stand with my sisters in solidarity.

Feelinghothothottoday · 05/06/2021 22:56

£250,000!!!!! I would be questioning that with their auditors as to whether that is reasonable use of public funds.

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 05/06/2021 23:07

@ArabellaScott

Wondering if my TBR pile can stand another: ]]
Damn it!

Sometimes I put an IOU(me) a book somewhere down the TBR pile in the hope the price has gone down by the time I get to the IOU Grin

ArabellaScott · 05/06/2021 23:11

That’s a bloody shocking amount of money 😳

I put this in the other thread about MM but it's worth sharing. Alex Massie in the Times today:

Thanks @Igneococcus. That’s a great and reasonable article and I’m glad to see it in the mainstream press.

Feelinghothothottoday · 06/06/2021 09:53

Good article.

This is on my wish list - I looked through it last time I was in Blackwell's and it looked fascinating.

Could you tell me where you got your stickers please.

setthecontrols · 06/06/2021 12:29

I have badges and a more subtle way of supporting the cause...

Not in Scotland, but was at a Covid vaccination centre this morning. We were given coloured stickers to show whether we were to be funnelled into the AZ queue or the Pfizer queue.

The colours of the stickers: purple or green Grin

I have some from Posie - www.adulthumanfemale.store/stickers-pdfs?page=2

And I like printing my own Grin (That book/map protector sticky plastic stuff is excellent to protect them from rain)

Your garden is beautiful set!

WouldBeGood · 06/06/2021 14:45

Love the garden @setthecontrols. I’m inspired!

setthecontrols · 06/06/2021 16:37

Thank you bothSmile

jhuizinga · 06/06/2021 16:44

Set - your garden looks lovely! Coincidently, my DP bought some petunias earlier today to put in hanging baskets. He said he chose them for their pretty colours, which happened to be violet and white. Together with their dark green leaves, I think they will make a very satisfactory statement indeed.

setthecontrols · 06/06/2021 21:40

Post a pic of your feminist plant arrangements! (or should this be in 'gardening'?Grin
