She hasn't had the answer she was looking for so far (Despite her followers being mostly labour supporters)

A lot of women in the comments noting Stonewall's stance on removing sex as a protected characteristic

Dawn Butler asks: "who do you trust more: stonewall or Liz truss"?

@merrymouse

Poll finished 69.5% for Liz Truss on 90k votes.
Absolutely spectacular. Grin

She's now denouncing everyone who disagrees with her as trolls.

I just don't understand the Labour Party Position on this.

There is clear evidence that Stonewall are not giving correct legal guidance. If the Labour Party doesn't see fit to support the laws of the country on this issue how do they expect to be voted in.

Not to mention the obvious anti women/ homophobia stance.

Shocking.

Doesn’t Dawn Butler have a history of going rogue on this issue? I think she produced a document that contradicted Labour policy a few years ago?

If this is the case again, Starmer really has a duty to clarify.

She has another silly poll about doctors and Boris Johnson now.

Which doctors? Why?

AfternoonToffee · 03/06/2021 10:00

Dr Who?

NHS doctors?

Tory MP's who are/were also doctors?

GenderGP doctors?

More importantly on what issue.

I assume that young woman will be against redefining same-sex attraction as “same-gender” attraction then? Against lecturing lesbians that they should be willing to have sex with people with penises? Against telling women and girls that they need to overcome their discomfort if males enter female-only spaces?

Males telling lesbians they need to have penis-inclusive sex is about as heteronormative as you can get.

RickiTarr · 03/06/2021 10:15

😂

Ah thanks for that.

Dawn Butler rose to prominence through Union and BAME reserve lists and would never have been choses as an MP otherwise.

She has never done anything interesting in parliment whatsoever and her voting record leans surprisingly right (unless 'expenses' or political manuvering has made it in her interest to change sides)

She was caught up in the expenses scandle but managed to shake off the heat as so many were caught out.

She threw her lot in with Jeremy C despite having no politicial principles to speak of whatsoever, she would have happly gone to the right of the party but she clocked that there was a significant left membership that could be useful to her.

She uses the fact she is a black Labour politician in an inner London borough to be tone deaf and frankly an embarrassment to the party.

She is an oppertunist and sums up everything wrong with our political class. Utterly discraseful woman. Its tragic given so many great left politicians who are BAME that its someone like her who is representing the people of Hackney.

There are lots of sparkly pics of her on 'expenses' trips paid for by LGBTQ+++WTF lobbyists

This all reminds me of that TV ad from many years ago.

Daddy or Chips?

I’d hope that she isn’t representative of the entire Labour Party, but if she is it’s difficult to understand how they have a future.

Liz Truss may be unpopular in some bubbles, but she personally and her party have a strong majority, so it’s insulting to the electorate to suggest that she intrinsically more untrustworthy than Stonewall.

Meanwhile an independent review concluded that Stonewall was misrepresenting the law.

But Butler concludes the poll result was caused by trolls?

If I recall, Labour's last manifesto had a commitment to maintaining single sex spaces and within a day Dawn had contradicted it.

Which is why when I'm told Labour are committed to women's rights I have to ask what they mean by women and what they mean by rights, because I don't think we speak the same language anymore.

Justhadathought · 03/06/2021 12:40

Bloody hilarious. I hate Liz's trade deals but she knows that women have vaginas. When will the penny drop for people like Dawn

Dawn and all of the others know this too, but they're just trying to be "kind"; and politically correct. the problem with such a superficial adoption of such a radical agenda is that when reality hits, and the real life conflicts and quite profound implications come home to roost - they are way too far in to step back and reflect.

Dawn butler knows what a woman is because she spends half her time talking about how she is one.

Justhadathought · 03/06/2021 12:44

The adoption of an equality agenda, which in essence seeks to deny difference between the sexes ( apart from the socially constructed bits), has led to a place where women's rights just mean basic human civil rights. So, equal pay, equal opportunity etc.

And trans rights are just human rights too. If women are just like men, but with boobs and a vagina, then what is the big deal?

SmokedDuck · 03/06/2021 12:48

dyslek I'm not convinced shortlists have really worked for Labour. Maybe they create quantity but quality doesn't seem to be an outcome.

They definitely do not make for the best candidates. When you make a selection on the basis of group identity alone, you end up with mere gesture politics; as if just by the visibility of 'diversity' or 'equality' the job of better representation is done.

In the past short-lists have had their place, but really do not think they are necessary any more; and they certainly do not lead to better outcomes or quality.

SmokedDuck · 03/06/2021 13:18

Yup, Justhadathought I agree. I think so far as encouraging people from under-represented backgrounds to get involved, other approaches might, at this point, be more fruitful.

OhHolyJesus · 09/06/2021 07:38

Dawn Butler has set up a cameo account - I have never heard of it but you can pay for her time and send DM's.

What's her job again?
