Do they really think the likes of Pink News readers will buy their handbags?
I don't think they've realised what a can of worms they've opened.k

The photos didn't paste - nor half my text - hopefully it's fine now. I wonder if Radley have thought this through. Who is their key customer base? The woke bro 20-something yr olds? Or women?

What terrible timing. I hope their marketing team are suitably embarrassed.

This is the ones with wee Scotty dogs on them? Oh, I have one I got in a car boot sale.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 31/05/2021 14:16

Agreed OP. I suspect that many Radley customers (in the light of recent disclosures) are not as enamoured of the Pride (as opposed to Pink) £££ as Radley aniticipate.
It's been interesting reading all about Marks & Spencer and their financial woes. Of course the pandemic has been a major factor but I'm certain that pissing off so many of their female customers because of their passion for mixed sex lingerie changing rooms didn't help. Maybe their new preferred customer target market just didn't compare with all the professional women, mothers, heads of large families spending their hard earned £££ on clothing, food and financial products? Funny that.

Perhaps Radley haven't done so well in the last 12 months. I love their zipped slouchy bags for work. I've a green and an orange one and a few purses. I was planning on treating myself to new shoes and bag before venturing back in to the office (July).
Perhaps because, like me, women who normally work in the office haven't needed new handbags their sales have gone down, so they've been trying to expand their customer base.

Understandable, but by colluding with Stonewall they're insinuating that a good majority of their customer base are anti-Semitic bigots

Awful thing is is that it will backfire

I think the problem with M&S is more fundamental than not listening to women about changing rooms - it is not listening to their customers generally. Good is the great underwear, socks and good quality staples. Their food offering now includes other brands and no longer stands out against their competitors. Their clothes just seem to miss any target. Not many of them are getting as far as the changing room.

I was a bit pee'd off yesterday. Buying the cats Dreamies and the packaging is all rainbows and Pride. If it was for me I wouldn't have bought them, but it's for the cat so ..

Needanedittbuton · 31/05/2021 15:38

Which do Radley have to get involved with Pride?

It's a shit bag they've done to "celebrate" it.

DaisiesandButtercups · 31/05/2021 16:23

I am now weaning the cat off them. She has the Lily’s kitchen equivalent to try which is probably better for her she likes them. I also got her her some thrive treats. I am on the look out for other brands of cat treats to try.

What exactly has LGBT got to do with cats? Surely the cats protection league or the RSPCA would be better choices of charity for Dreamies to support.

Sexnotgender · 31/05/2021 16:25

@DaisiesandButtercups pretty sure Lily’s Kitchen were all rainbowed up last year…

AfternoonToffee · 31/05/2021 16:43

Did you just presume the identity of my imaginary cat?

The bag though, people will either buy it or not, it doesn't say on the actual site about a donation though, just in PN.

AdaFuckingShelby · 31/05/2021 16:47

I think my cat identifies as a dog. Long games of fetch & could've sworn he wanted a walk with me the other day.

TrainedByCats · 31/05/2021 16:51

Here’s what Ridley have to say www.radley.co.uk/blog/features/radley-with-pride/

CardinalLolzy · 31/05/2021 17:00

I don't see a problem with promoting Pride, per se. Giving a cut to Stonewall leaves a bad taste though particularly when that webpage promotes tons of other gay etc rights charities.
It also claims re Hannah Graf, that 'Hannah and her husband Jake were also Britain’s first transgender parents'.
I'm sure there were loads of transgender parents before they came along! Bit offensive to claim that no-one with children has been trans until now. Kind of like Sam Smith saying they were the first gay Oscar winner!

Radley is a very “mum” or “grandma” brand. Is Shon Faye or Jamie Windust the right demographic?

Sexnotgender · 31/05/2021 17:27

Even my mum doesn’t like Radley😂 this smacks of trying to be seen to do the right thing.

Really oh no! That is crazy. Rainbow wash is everywhere!

Needanedittbuton · 31/05/2021 19:45

Don't start with the ageism! Mums and grans can be gay or have gay kids.

The Radley statement is very cringe- I might send my scotty dog back in protest Smile

OneEpisode · 31/05/2021 19:57

Apologies. Generalising from my own family. My mum admired and saved up for a Radley bag for a big birthday for me. I’m afraid I already returned it, so I can’t return in protest.

ValancyRedfern · 31/05/2021 21:01

Pride isn't Stonewall though. I've never heard of Radley so not particularly invested, but if a company wants to put a rainbow on their bag I'm not that fussed.

thinkingaboutLangCleg · 31/05/2021 21:20

It is weird. Do they really still see Pride as the friendly gay rights event everyone likes? Have they really not heard anything else?

ArrrMeHearties · 31/05/2021 21:25

I'd been toying with buying a Radley bag but being expensive was saving for one but I will be going elsewhere for a bag now

FlatteredFool · 31/05/2021 21:32

DS sees a rainbow flag or whatever and says, "oooh it's a rainbow for the NHS." I'm hoping the rainbow can be just a rainbow without being associated with anything because every time I see one, I think, "oooh great, another rainbow slogan/pattern/print/bollocks-thing showing the company involved values men and being on-trend above all else throwing women and girls under the bus.
