Shit. Ah well. I'm shitting myself but strangely, buzzing!

I think most people knew I was a radical feminist but without understanding what that really is, if that makes sense. Well I shared an article about stonewall's status on 'sex by deception' aka rape. So now they know.

drinks wine cheers, sisters!

Well done! I haven't dared. Work in wokesville. What article did you share?

PatsArrow · 25/05/2021 22:02

Well done!

I think I inadvertently came to some of my eagle- eyed fb friends by liking and commenting on a Standing for Women post. It's probably too subtle for most though.

One of my real life friends just mentioned it as me being suddenly "all feminist" but strangely didn't raise too much of an eyebrow.

Erikrie · 25/05/2021 22:02

Well done.

It was a Graham Linehan one about Stonewall's rape culture. I do worry about my future when I share things but I've just had enough and couldn't stop myself. Maybe reckless but... Its done now

That latest Graham Linehan post is really upsetting. Def worth it!

Agree. Also, it's so shocking that I feel the 'be kind' numpties will struggle to call it transphobic.

OP posts:
Babdoc · 25/05/2021 22:16

Is there a link to it, OP?

Anyone who thinks that an organisation trying to decriminalise sex by deception (seriously, SEX BY DECEPTION!) is anything other than abhorrent has really, truly, lost perspective.

How can a reasonable human being think that sex by deception is EVER the morally correct 'side'.

ArabellaScott · 25/05/2021 22:23

Cheers, OP. Every post makes it easier for others. Well done.

IAmFleshIAmBone · 25/05/2021 22:23

Pear absolutely agree. Obviously!

I spoke out today at work, I had no choice as I was in a diversity/ESG meeting and one of our junior associates (female, very right on) put "gender pronouns" on the agenda, lots of "being kind" and "it's really helpful". I said I disagreed and sent the link round from the Legal Feminist blog, have yet to have a reply so quite nervous.

Solidarity!!!

Xiao Well done! That's amazing and scary. But we have to keep telling ourselves we're not doing anything wrong. It's terrifying and it shouldn't be.

Thanks for the support everyone. It's coming here to read your wise words that keeps me going.

Well done! I wish I had the nerve but I'm another wokesville worker. One day tho...

ArabellaScott · 25/05/2021 22:53

Well done, Xiao! You're just upholding the existing law, it's exactly what should be done.

MajesticWhine · 25/05/2021 23:49

Well done OP
I don't do Facebook and I wouldn't dare stick my neck out like this but thank you

stumbledin · 26/05/2021 00:04

Hope you will be okay OP!

In a strange way I am the other way round. I have never really used facebook for actual friends, but did used to have quite a few facebook friends.

And even though I try to post politely on groups of common interest I think somehow my believe that sex is biological and real, means that my circle of FB friends has shrunk as I get edged out of this group or page. Hmm

Just waiting to end what has been a fairly positively situation because someone posted as part of the anniversary of the death of George Floyd some self serving tweet from Owen Jones about "solidarity" with BLM but in fact was at a Stand up to Racism demo. So I pointed out that was typical of OJ to align with a group that thinks women in left women groups shouldn't complain about rape (remember Comrade Delta) and his need to self publicise was not the main purpose of remembering the horrific death of George Floyd.

@Xiaoxiong can you send me the link please? My company has just signed up to the Stonewall Diversity Champions and I think pronouns in email signatures might just be the start of it.
Xiaoxiong · 26/05/2021 08:09

@ClingFilmAndGafferTape here you go:

legalfeminist.org.uk/2020/07/19/pronouns-compulsion-and-controversy/

I particularly drew my colleague's attention to the second section, about how putting pronouns in bios draws attention to the fact that the person is female and unconscious bias then comes into play. My colleagues that are pushing this are all female and much younger than me and I don't think they've actually encountered a lot of sexism in the workplace yet.

CigarsofthePharoahs · 26/05/2021 08:19

Wow they really are lost now, aren't they! Whatever happened to "no means no".

Bourbonandcoke · 26/05/2021 11:25

Good for you, people should always stand up for their beliefs.

Xiaoxiong · 27/05/2021 09:54

Well I just had a chat with our CEO who also founded our company and he absolutely wholeheartedly embraced the unconscious bias issue, the compelled speech issue and said while he is CEO pronouns will never be mandatory, if a few people want to put pronouns in their bios it's their choice but he won't let it become a peer pressure situation. He's vocally left-wing at work, we have all sorts of diversity initiatives (lots of data tracking, standing items at meetings relating to diversity in our investment pipeline and in our hiring processes, internships for people from underrepresented backgrounds to break into our industry etc) so a huge relief to find that he is gender critical and much more informed than I expected - in fact, more informed than the junior female staff who have brought it up.

Xiaoxiong · 27/05/2021 09:55

@IAmFleshIAmBone have you had any comments on the article you shared?

FrancesGumm · 27/05/2021 10:07

Xiaoxiong - that’s great what your CEO has said Smile
