New slogan is “Free to Be”.

Lots of emphasis about schools which will undoubtedly be about training on affirmation only/supporting social transition.

OP posts:

Along with the required parental consultation for RSE it's a good time to talk to schools then.

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 24/05/2021 11:16

I am optimistic that Safe Schools Alliance will have an appropriate response to these plan.

Erikrie · 24/05/2021 11:32

They can stay out of our children's schools. Time for us to double the effort, and get onto every single school to make sure organisations like Stonewall don't get to push their damaging political agenda, as per the government guidance.

WorkingItOutAsIGo · 24/05/2021 14:16

Interesting - basically we could classify Stonewall as originally founded as being about ‘free to love who I want’ because it was about sexuality. This makes it clear it is all about identity now.

In which case I would argue for a top to toe review if their charitable objectives.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 24/05/2021 14:21

The Chair of Stonewall recently spoke about being especially keen for the organisation to get into primary schools.

Hopefully in the light of their inaccurate approach to the law that they've been promoting, complaints are flooding in to the Charity Commission as I'm sure that's not in line with their guidelines?

WeeSisters · 24/05/2021 15:56

Embarrassingly, they want to ban conversion therapy due to ‘the lie that our sexual or romantic orientation or gender can be changed’.

(Point no 1 on page 3 of their new mission statement)

I thought they were in favour of changing genders???? And that Morgan ‘Cotton Ceiling’ Page was trying to get lesbians to change their same-sex orientation?

www.stonewall.org.uk/system/files/stonewall_strategy_2021-5_1.pdf

Oh dear

Leafstamp · 24/05/2021 16:09

From page 2 of their new strategy document:

^'By encouraging LGBTQ+ people and their allies to step up as
leaders, role models and activists we are all taking a big step – school by school, workplace by workplace, community by
community – towards a world where LGBTQ+ people everywhere are free to be.'^

Now, of course, children should be taught (in an age appropriate way) that families and grown up relationships come in all sort of permutations of male and female. And so on. Most here know what is reasonable, I won't spell it out.

But, here is just one example of what they suggested for 4 and 5 year olds:

^Watch the video about Roberta Cowell:

. This is a very old video and some of the language used is quite old fashioned. Today we would say that Roberta was a racing driver before her transition and after her transition. Roberta was trans, this means that when she was born people thought she was a boy, but when she got older she told them “I’m a woman, please call me Roberta.”^

For more, see here: www.stonewall.org.uk/system/files/lgbt_history_home_learning_pack_-_primary.pdf

I am very concerned about Stonewall infiltrating into schools.

Whatsnewpussyhat · 24/05/2021 18:10

More indoctrination of children then.

How the fuck can they take themselves seriously with wanting to ban conversion therapy whilst simultaneously telling lesbians they are bigots for not wanting to have sex with a penis owner.

Homophobic, rapey bullshit.

WarriorN · 24/05/2021 18:30

My thoughts;

The arrow is showing the L the door.

It's looks like an erect penis of letters.

The pink is the pink of the trans flag; the green is really not far off the blue.

Free to be (unless you're a woman, lesbian or detrans.)

WarriorN · 24/05/2021 18:33

Also, the colours are more of a child friendly branding tbh.

Chilling.

merrymouse · 24/05/2021 18:58

In business the name of the game really is diversification and market share. Sorry LGB, but TQ+ is just more of a growth area, catering as it does to the heterosexual majority...

MarshmallowSwede · 24/05/2021 19:05

Why are they so eager to get near children?

HecatesCatsInFancyHats · 24/05/2021 19:19

Anyone else reckon they've ripped off the Equality and Human Rights commission logo in order to give themselves more credibility? They're not the watchdog! Posted this on the other thread - the start of the new animated logo doesn't half look similar...

I would hope there would be some emails being sent but complaints need to be lodged with the charity first don't they?

Maybe I do finally need to pull my finger out and write about the tweets this weekend and the EHRC logo rip off. There's so much to complain about, for the category of errors this last year, I've lost track, if anyone can post reminders I'd be grateful.

(I was going to complain a while ago but it felt futile, now...not so much. Maybe it's worth a try.)

It seems to be one of those Creative Commons - use it as long as you give credit arrangements.

It's inappropriate but I doubt there are many barriers to them doing this.

aliasundercover · 24/05/2021 20:53

The word 'lesbian' appears once, 'gay' also once. Trans appears 10 times.

Thanks Stonewall, we see where you're coming from.

HecatesCatsInFancyHats · 24/05/2021 21:23

I suspect not, but if it's deliberate it's unethical and looks designed to align them with the equalities watchdog. If not then they should have done more branding research.

FemaleAndLearning · 24/05/2021 21:36

I think the muted colours are more accessible to people on a screen. Rainbow colours are the worst apparently. I guess they have used pink and blue to represent their gender identity spectrum!

LizzieSiddal · 24/05/2021 23:15

Yes the logo and the surrounding colour are the same. Hmm. I wonder if the EHRC will have anything to say about this?

NiceGerbil · 25/05/2021 00:55

Things I found interesting.

A little while back they started talking about the I a lot. They seem to have dropped that.

They specifically mention sport.

Also the fight against anti trans.

They also mention the A a lot. I've never really understood that I admit. I can see that in a sex/ coupling up obsessed society it must be a bit shit. I don't think they're in danger of violence on the street because of it though? And how different is the experience to someone who has never been able to get a date? I don't understand how this is a rights issue.

Heavy focus on the T no surprise.

Like I say- interesting.

merrymouse · 25/05/2021 07:01

I don't understand how this is a rights issue.

The only thing I can think of is tax and inheritance law which sometimes benefits married couples. However that affects anyone who isn’t married for any reason (e.g. divorce) The connection to gay rights seems very tenuous.

I’m doing just this tomorrow. It’s excellent timing. School are proposing to use SW list of bullshit gobbledygook that is their glossary but I shall be telling them not to. Taking several other docs with me.

I was wondering if the pink and green would be inaccessible to some with red green colour blindness?

FemaleAndLearning · 25/05/2021 07:18

I don't know! Someone who works in graphic design will need to explain better!

FindTheTruth · 25/05/2021 10:32

“Free to Be” reminds me of "My body is me", though I'm sure that's not the intention
