Here:

New slogan is “Free to Be”.

Lots of emphasis about schools which will undoubtedly be about training on affirmation only/supporting social transition.

I couldn't see that they make clear who is included in the "Q+" part of LGBTQ+ etc. I think they need to be more descriptive of who they are including; it might surprise some people to find out who they are supporting.

FemaleAndLearning · 25/05/2021 12:23

@NiceGerbil

Things I found interesting.

A little while back they started talking about the I a lot. They seem to have dropped that.

They specifically mention sport.

Also the fight against anti trans.

They also mention the A a lot. I've never really understood that I admit. I can see that in a sex/ coupling up obsessed society it must be a bit shit. I don't think they're in danger of violence on the street because of it though? And how different is the experience to someone who has never been able to get a date? I don't understand how this is a rights issue.

Heavy focus on the T no surprise.

Like I say- interesting.

Yes I noticed they no longer have I for intersex, which has to be a good thing.

As for asexual and aromatic someone I saw somewhere that a person said they felt discriminated as people always ask them if they are seeing anyone. I mean don't we all get asked that! I've been single for over 10 years now and in the first two years people were always asking me that question. Now they know not to bother. I still dont see how you would be discriminated against in the work place unless you were expected to bring a plus one to a function outside of work, but couldn't that be a friend? Personally I just think it is a way of capturing children into the LGB and TQ Plus community from an early age. Of course most 11year olds don't feel sexual or romantic.

StellaAndCrow · 25/05/2021 12:25

"Elders will be represented in all of our campaigns and resources, and be heard loud and clear"
So are they going to start listening to "elder" lesbians then?

And are they going to stop using children in their campaign pictures?

StellaAndCrow · 25/05/2021 12:26

I wonder what their evidence base is for including asexual/aromantic as a "discriminated against" group?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 25/05/2021 12:30

"Roberta was trans, this means that when she was born people thought she was a boy, but when she got older she told them “I’m a woman.."

Doesn't that go against the DfE guidelines about promoting ideology as fact?

FlyPassed · 25/05/2021 12:31

@StellaAndCrow i wonder what their evidence base is for ANYTHING they've done in the last few years! Grin

Helleofabore · 25/05/2021 14:35

In their six point ‘vision for change’ they have set out their aims. There are plenty to be concerned with but also point 4.

“Judicial clarity of ‘sex by deception’ cases to define the legal position on what consistutes sex by deception based on gender, and to ensure trans people’s privacy is protected.”

When combined with the removal of ‘the spousal veto’, is anyone getting vibes that stonewall are basically very determined to give a group of people power over another person’s ability to consent.

Chilling indeed!!

Ereshkigalangcleg · 25/05/2021 14:37

Judicial clarity of ‘sex by deception’ cases to define the legal position on what consistutes sex by deception based on gender, and to ensure trans people’s privacy is protected.”

The appeal to "privacy" means that they think that people should not have to reveal that they are the opposite sex to sexual partners.

Helleofabore · 25/05/2021 14:43

It does indeed eresh.

I cannot believe that they think this should be supported!

Leafstamp · 25/05/2021 16:26

I would hope that decent teachers would (a) not get resources from
Stonewall in the first place or (b) realise they are not suitable when they see them and then go elsewhere.

It’s not ideal that the resources are there at all, but I suppose there is a lot of nonsense on the internet. If teachers see the unsuitable material on the Stonewall site then it may serve to widen the opinion that they are not an organisation to be trusted.

Wishful thinking?!

Thanks findthetruth that made me smile.

andyoldlabour · 26/05/2021 09:38

With regard to the latest from Stonewall, I had this update from Glinner in my mail this morning.
It is very harrowing and relates to the "right to privacy"

Helleofabore · 26/05/2021 10:38

That is hard to read andyoldlabour. And that is exactly what SW seem to want to legitimize. And their followers seem to think is their entitlement. Sex without disclosure. But they are right in one aspect.

It need to be made very clear in law that non-disclosure can be regarded as negating consent.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 26/05/2021 10:55

It need to be made very clear in law that non-disclosure can be regarded as negating consent.

Women have gone to jail for sex by deception on this basis, posing as a man and not disclosing their sex.

andyoldlabour · 26/05/2021 11:50

I seem to remember something I read a couple of years ago, about an LGBT group where older TW were targeting young lesbians. I was pretty shocked but not all that surprised. It actually made me think back to the time when PIE existed and their links to certain public figures who are still around today.
I am just trying to figure out, how and why Stonewall have become so influential.

Helleofabore · 26/05/2021 12:14

It does happen andyoldlabour. I have listened to videos of detransitioners who have experienced it as 'transmen'. Some of them were under 18 and being targeted by older males and encouraged to try sex acts they were uncomfortable with under the guise of 'don't kink shame'. I don't know how wide spread it is though.

FindTheTruth · 29/05/2021 06:28

This video with Nancy Kelley has just posted on the BBC website about the new Stonewall strategy

'She likened so-called "gender critical" beliefs to anti-Semitism'

speakout · 29/05/2021 06:40

I am so angry. To be gender critical is equal to being anti semetic???
There is some very damaging thinking going on here.

speakout · 29/05/2021 06:41

X post!

speakout · 29/05/2021 06:44

"We're talking about protected groups. We're talking about people that are protected on the basis of their sexuality, people that are protected on the basis of gender identity, people who are protected on the basis of race and that's why we think the analogy is apt."

What about women's rights?
Neatly forgotten.
