On Wednesday April the 28th 2021 I received a call from a PC Laura Daley from police scotland requesting i attend an interview for homophobic and transphobic tweets under the milacious communications act.

I was asked to attend that coming Friday, she told me I had to attend East Kilbride police station so I could be then transported to Cathcart police station in a police car because I would have to go to a police station where there is holding cells, I would be then processed, questioned and then most likely charged.

I told her I would not be attending any interview on that day especially with it being a bank holiday weekend because my autistic twins needed me and I was scared I would be held all weekend.

To this she told me she would attend my house with social workers for my boys.

I contacted a solicitor straight away and he was unable to get PC Daley so for the first bank holiday in May I sent my disabled twins away for fear of this officer carrying out this threat.

This absolute nonsense has been hanging over my head for a month, I can barely sleep
or eat and I still don't know what the offending tweet is, my new interview has been scheduled for Thursday the 27th May, I will find out what I am supposed to have said at that point and if I will be indeed charged, again at another bank holiday, I just want to say, anyone who knows me, knows I am not homophobic or transphobic, I am a hard working mummy who would fight to the end for the safety and dignity of women and girls and for my vulnerable twinnies.

If we sit back and do nothing we will regret it for ever. For this reason I will never
Wheesht.

Would it help if we wrote OP?

That links no longer working but am I right in thinking the officer involved is lgbt? So has skin in the game? How come she’s allowed to use her position to further her own agenda/personal vendetta against people she believes are homophobic? Surely that’s an abuse of power?
PearPickingPorky · 26/05/2021 07:44

I presume the SNP and the Greens support the intimidation of Marion Millar. It's how the Hate crime bill is intended to work, and as we know despite several moving attempts by women in the Scottish parliament, women were explicitly excluded from protection in this bill.

Exactly. There's a reason they haven't spoken out about this outrageous situation, and that is because it is working exactly as they intended.

Women were the target, explicitly. They went out of their way to make sure women could be treated this way, and that we had no protection.

She might be a supporter of gender ideology, but being gay isn't an indication of having skin in the game, and being L or T certainly doesn't protect from harassment or worse, as I'm sure Miranda Yardley and a very long list of lesbians would confirm.

ArabellaScott · 27/05/2021 09:53

Marion Millar has been told her meeting may not go ahead today. It's uncertain what happens next.

Perhaps the custody suite is needed for an actual criminal?

Appalling for Marion to string this out any longer.
FindTheTruth · 27/05/2021 10:38

I hope she will complain to the The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) about being threatened with custody over an undisclosed opinion, threatened with having children taken care of by social services and the cruel and unusual punishment of dragging it out in a cat and mouse game impacting her mental health and health.

justanotherneighinparadise · 27/05/2021 11:33

I imagine they’re stalling in the hope it will allow them to back away slowly while saving face.

Whilst she is left in a terrifying limbo.

Gutless, Shameful.

Well, thank goodness it's so straightforward to arrange childcare, especially for children who have particular needs - and there are no wider social difficulties with travel and other necessary considerations.

The intimidation and chilling are marked.

BattyOrange · 27/05/2021 12:03

I'm wondering if the mention of "custody suite" is an attempt to intimidate and frighten Marion even further. I don't understand why they might need to keep her in a cell for an interview that's arranged by appointment. Unlike Kate Scottow, Marion hasn't been arrested so surely they just need an interview room available at the appointment time?

Cailleach1 · 27/05/2021 12:06

They want to frighten her without any public scrutiny.

Of course, the stress of having to rearrange childcare etc and also have this sort of state targeting of her views will be prolonged. So they are still making her sweat for her opinions. And causing stress because of her caring role for children. Worrying her where she is vulnerable and also by extension her children.

Korea and China used to do this sort of thing. Russia too. 'Nice family you have there. Pity if they are left without your protection because of your views.'

These stasi won't have it all their own way any more. Women won't what?

Masdintle · 27/05/2021 12:15

WHEEST! (I love this word)

ArabellaScott · 27/05/2021 12:15

It's also making it harder for any form of public protest, of course. Because women were going to be gathering to support her, and that is not really good optics for the Police, is it?

ArabellaScott · 27/05/2021 12:15

Good effort, Masdintle! It's 'wheesht'. Smile The 'shhhhhh' is very important.

AdHominemNonSequitur · 27/05/2021 12:17

Lots of people were planning to attend in protest, no doubt the reschedule is to thwart that.

SoMuchForSummerLove · 27/05/2021 12:19

I just bought myself a Women Won't Wheesht keyring and I'm excited about it Grin

Thanks though pp

OOOOH, I want a keying, Summer!

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 27/05/2021 18:27

I can't join a protest in Glasgow, stupid covid.

If there is a simultaneous one panned for edinburgh, would be great if someone could post the details on here...

ArabellaScott · 27/05/2021 18:27

It seems this is how to make complaints about the police in Scotland:

www.mygov.scot/police-complaints

www.scotland.police.uk/about-us/police-scotland/complaints-about-the-police/

And if that doesn't satisfy

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 27/05/2021 18:33

I really hope she does pursue a complaint, aided by her lawyer. Pretty sure she could crowdfund the costs pretty easily (lawyer to scare the polic
