Scottish woman told would be charged for homophobic and transphobic tweets

On Wednesday April the 28th 2021 I received a call from a PC Laura Daley from police scotland requesting i attend an interview for homophobic and transphobic tweets under the milacious communications act.

I was asked to attend that coming Friday, she told me I had to attend East Kilbride police station so I could be then transported to Cathcart police station in a police car because I would have to go to a police station where there is holding cells, I would be then processed, questioned and then most likely charged.

I told her I would not be attending any interview on that day especially with it being a bank holiday weekend because my autistic twins needed me and I was scared I would be held all weekend.

To this she told me she would attend my house with social workers for my boys.

I contacted a solicitor straight away and he was unable to get PC Daley so for the first bank holiday in May I sent my disabled twins away for fear of this officer carrying out this threat.

This absolute nonsense has been hanging over my head for a month, I can barely sleep
or eat and I still don't know what the offending tweet is, my new interview has been scheduled for Thursday the 27th May, I will find out what I am supposed to have said at that point and if I will be indeed charged, again at another bank holiday, I just want to say, anyone who knows me, knows I am not homophobic or transphobic, I am a hard working mummy who would fight to the end for the safety and dignity of women and girls and for my vulnerable twinnies.

If we sit back and do nothing we will regret it for ever. For this reason I will never
Wheesht.

So PC Laura's family and friends were completely happy and accepting that she was gay. But Laura was terrified of coming out. I wonder if Laura often has problems with projection and difficulties reading situations.

ScreamingMeMe · 24/05/2021 08:24

Thanks all. Good to see this in the press. Most people reading it will surely see the insanity.

334bu · 24/05/2021 08:27

Thanks for the share token.
So much for " the hate crime bill will never stifle the rights of women" argument!

ScreamingMeMe · 24/05/2021 08:28

Is this correct @Ginger1982 ?

To comply with human rights legislation interviews have to take place at a station with custody suites, which East Kilbride does not have.

@FindTheTruth

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: “We received two complaints regarding comments made on social media, enquiries into this are ongoing.”

What a complete waste of police time. meanwhile only 1.5% of rape cases lead to a charge or summons

2 complaints and a woman is threatened that her children will be removed.

For Fucks Sake. This needs to be an absolute fucking scandal.

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 24/05/2021 09:44

Two complaints. Two disabled children subjected to emotional harm. How tidy.

Is that the predetermined acceptable ratio, or just a happy accident?

Ginger1982 · 24/05/2021 10:08

Technically yes because if you're going to interview and potentially arrest someone then you have to somewhere to hold them (though I should add that police cells in Scotland are not maintained to the same standard as those in England. Having been in many, they are pretty vile and smell rank!)

It kind of misses the point of having her present at EK though if they're just going to ship her, presumably in a police car, to Cathcart. She should just present at Cathcart 🤷🏼‍♀️

Fernlake · 24/05/2021 11:01

That poor woman. Although, this is all now being conducted in the full glare of the spotlight. The media, women's groups everywhere, MPs. The lot.

As a previous poster said, gone are the days where this all gets secretly played out in the shadows.

Rhannion · 24/05/2021 13:15

Marion knows she has an army of women (and men ) beside her and most of us in the general area of Glasgow can find our way to that police station on Thursday if needed...

Laura Daley appears to be a board member of LGBTI police Scotland

I'm in Scotland and this situation is frightening. I worry that if I say something about women's rights in public I might be targeted, as Marion Millar has been. It seems to be the implicit stance of the Scottish government to keep woman compliant or quiet.

I presume the SNP and the Greens support the intimidation of Marion Millar. It's how the Hate crime bill is intended to work, and as we know despite several moving attempts by women in the Scottish parliament, women were explicitly excluded from protection in this bill.

It's exactly as intended. Women are targets and not protected.

How on earth did we get here?

The police are employed to protect us and uphold the law. They are not supposed to bully law abiding citizens. Threatening mothers with the removal of their children is abhorrent.

MyMajesty · 24/05/2021 14:41

Rhannion I really hope that happens, if necessary, with lots of reporters notified what's happening.
I'd be there if I lived anywhere near the area.

ArabellaScott · 24/05/2021 14:41

Why are women so terrifying to this movement? Why do they hate women talking?

Undersnatch · 25/05/2021 09:30

Does anyone have any updates? Is there a gathering planned?

'Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys & Girls. Who fancies a trip to stand outside this police station on the 27th May in support of our Marion?'

'It would appear to be a 3:30 pm appointment so I'd guess start gathering from 2pm?

What they're doing to Marion is at odds with Scottish LGBT police stated purpose:

"it is vital for all communities to have trust and confidence in the police and feel part of that institution. Tension and mistrust simply make it far more difficult for the police to operate efficiently and "police by consent". If your own staff feel unable or uncomfortable about being openly LGBTI, why should the LGBTI community place any trust or confidence in that institution?"

"Critics of our Association, who have mainly come from within the policing ranks, including some LGBTI personnel, are often under the misapprehension that we are 'divisive'. Quite the contrary. The reverse is true. Thanks to the Association putting its head above the parapet and standing up for all LGBTI police personnel over many years, the police service in Scotland has evolved dramatically to become far more inclusive than it has ever been."

FindTheTruth · 25/05/2021 11:21

(and including 'I' in LGBTI, - 'Intersex', goes against the wishes of DSD people and charities who repeatedly ask that LGBT groups do not conflate themselves with DSD medical conditions.)

Marion Millar works for For Women Scotland (FWS), who standup for women and lesbians

forwomen.scot/08/09/2019/lesbian-strength-march/

It's the typical sleight of hand tactic to call women standing up for lesbians 'homophobic'

ArabellaScott · 25/05/2021 11:28

Well, I don't know, Find, sounds like they are only wanting to provide trust, confidence and comfort to certain sections of the population, and it seems women aren't included.

FindTheTruth · 25/05/2021 11:32

Arabella, in practise yes. Trust and confidence for the 2 TRAs who complained. Threats for women. and misrepresent women who standup for lesbians by accusing them of 'homophobia'.

NonnyMouse1337 · 25/05/2021 11:40

I believe Glasgow is currently at Level 3, so please bear that in mind if you are thinking of travelling from a Level 2 area. I don't think that's allowed at the moment.

greenleader · 26/05/2021 06:29

The awful pursuit of Marion Millar is of a piece with the continuous trend to suppress opinion and free speech, especially women's opinions and free speech. For me the Harry Miller cases really brought this home:
news.sky.com/story/second-legal-challenge-over-police-hate-incidents-starts-as-court-hears-freedom-of-expression-at-risk-12241063

And with the arrival of the hate crime legislation in Scotland I can't help feeling the situation is only going to get worse. Once the right not to be offended trumps freedom of expression we lose the ability to challenge the views of whichever in-group holds sway in the political/legal establishment of the day. Do Police Scotland realise 1984 isn't supposed to be a policing manual?

I think it's a different Marion that's part of FWS.
Think TRAs conflated the two women and targeted Marion Miller's business in the belief it was FWS address.

@Ravenclawsome thanks. I got that 'fact' from one of the MSM articles. can't trust anything these days.
