Lesbian Visibility Week

As Lesbian Visibility Week comes to an end, I want to make a quick reminder that
ALL LESBIANS ARE VALID!

Cisgender and Transgender women can be lesbians. Transgender men who date women don't consider themselves lesbians. All Lesbians deserve visibility!

Additionally, many have stated that they don't wish to date transgender people. That's fine! Just because someone is in the same dating pool doesn't mean you MUST be attracted to them. Plus genital preference is also totally fine! But don't forget, trans women are women so please do not degrade them just because you personally don't wish to date them.

Plus, let's continue to educate one another on the important information. Like preventing STI's as a lesbian, domestic abuse in lesbian relationships and how to deal with that, safe and consentual sex between lesbians. This is what we need to be educating young lesbians and bisexual women on.

I'd just laugh. Instead I find these threads very threatening.

I do too. For my young daughter who is a lesbian. It frightens me that there is so much homophobia these days, I thought we had made progress. Instead the clock has wound back to the 80's, but it actually feels worse than that. How do I protect my daughter? How does she protect herself? It feels society has become so unpleasant and dangerous these days.

There are waves of women here and out there who will be there for your daughter and with her. Most people are not homophobic; most people are totally fine with lesbians, gays and bisexual people.

Only some very persistent and vocal people, sadly, are still here trying to dismantle the rights and protections of lesbians. They won't win. I won't let them.

I was studying depth psychology before the pandemic in a building that happened to be next door to the Tavistock. One of the guest speakers, an psychologist specialising in adolescence, told us that her lesbian clients were being horrendously bullied at school for being lesbians but being trans was seen as cool. That made up a large proportion of her caseload.

It's horrible but at least awareness of the issues will help you and us to be aware and to protect where we can.

These threads over this week have emboldened me to be openly gender critical on social media. I'm bisexual and yet I've been totally disgusted at the tone being displayed.

I can't help but notice the similarities between eager posters of TWAW and missionary zealots of evangelical Christianity: One must spread the gospel whether the poor uneducated souls want it or not.

Circular arguments and obfuscation (females are trans women, anyone who identifies as a woman is a woman), Uninvited incursions into communities like moving to indigenous villages to convert (lesbian groups must include men and if they don't like it, we must change their minds).

Enlightened missionaries pressuring the already colonized groups to believe the new dogma or risk eternal damnation (TWAW and belong in female spaces or else).

Rewriting the meanings of words:
Meekness=Strength
Submission=Power
Lesbian=man
Penis=vulva

Belief without question.

Unbelievers need saving (educate yourself to keep your Facebook group)

Atheists/Agnostics/skeptics are tools of the devil (feminists are in cahoots with American Republicans).

I do not ascribe to this religion and I don't want to live in a religious state.
