Lesbian Visibility Week

As Lesbian Visibility Week comes to an end, I want to make a quick reminder that
ALL LESBIANS ARE VALID!

Cisgender and Transgender women can be lesbians. Transgender men who date women don't consider themselves lesbians. All Lesbians deserve visibility!

Additionally, many have stated that they don't wish to date transgender people. That's fine! Just because someone is in the same dating pool doesn't mean you MUST be attracted to them. Plus genital preference is also totally fine! But don't forget, trans women are women so please do not degrade them just because you personally don't wish to date them.

Plus, let's continue to educate one another on the important information. Like preventing STI's as a lesbian, domestic abuse in lesbian relationships and how to deal with that, safe and consentual sex between lesbians. This is what we need to be educating young lesbians and bisexual women on.

Have a fabulous long weekend all 🤍🌈

If memory serves Shizuku on another thread has said she is a transwoman, born a natal male, but "has always been female".

Given the persistence of XY karyotype since conception, I wonder what evidence (no "think", "feel" or "identify" descriptors) Shizuku has for having always been female not to mention claiming to be a lesbian.

(expects tumbleweed and no answer)

I'd expect a gish gallop & a deletion frenzy, on past form, tbh.

Struggling to find work? Really? I’m sorry to hear that’s a problem for you Shiz, there’s transwomen on these very boards with very nice well paid careers- maybe they can get you an apprenticeship.

There’s certainly women who have been fired for being pregnant. Of course I’m sure that’s an absolute privilege.

There’s women here with crippling disabilities and illnesses. But it’s not gender dysphoria (which is of course, neither of those) so it’s a privilege.

And of course many women here don’t have gender identity as an issue in their lives- they have terminal illnesses, homelessness, sick kids, abused kids, custody battles, stalking, violence, poverty, which is a privilege to have, of course.

bitheby · 01/05/2021 21:29

No. MNHQ seem to have totally abandoned whatever policy is supposed to deal with goady fuckers.

Do excuse me if I'm a bit terse, am drowning my sorrows after yet another month not conceiving and my female biology causing me huge heart break. Shame I identified into that huh? Oh wait. That'll be my privilege showing.
@CorvusPurpureus

Mumsnet's talk guidelines state (note, specifically in relation to discussions of trans issues):

We’ll be introducing a three strikes system whereby users deleted more than three times in any rolling six week period will have their membership automatically suspended and we’ll then take a view as to whether they will have membership reinstated.

I've been lurking a long time and I'm not seeing this happen to some of the newer visitors to these boards who are not posting in good faith.
Indeed - it's absolutely baffling, when you look at the deletions some of our more recent frequent flyers have been racking up. 🤷🏻‍♀️

@YoniAndGuy

How can a woman mansplain? Explain that to me?

Oh so biological sex matters now, does it?!

🤣

Bitheby ThanksWine

I think we were being told earlier that we had to be either cis or trans. So we probably all are transwomen by default.

Yep. Everyone is non binary after all, so we're really all on a spectrum of grandness.

CorvusPurpureus · 01/05/2021 21:34

Sorry to hear Bitheby Thanks

@Shizuku

Please don't write trans woman as a single word. It's offensive to most trans people.

Another thing where outside of certain social media pretty much everyone knows that a lesbian is a human female who fancies other human females, rather than human males which is more common. And that a bisexual person is a human who fancies people of both sexes.

Also interestingly overlooked is that (in the UK but goes further) human males have for a long time been fascinated by, fantasising about, fetishising, wanting to have sex with lesbians. Because many people want something they can't have I suppose. And because many wonder 'how' lesbians have sex. And because society in general tends to think of sex/ virginity in relation to penetration with a penis. And the idea of being 'the first' combined with the unattainable aspect is appealing to them. There may be more reasons.

In the end loads of men have been trying to get into lesbians pants for yonks but that fact is... Invisible in all of this.

The fact that some men will use these opportunities to get what they want is obvious surely. The coercion and guilting in many of the encounters reported on this thread show that some men will use be kind/ don't be a bigot as a big lever for coercion.

Note I'm talking about men here.

Why should women be forced to pretend that we don't know what a large minority of men are like, when it comes to what they will do to get sex/ a certain type of sex.

It's a pretty fucking massive ask.

I apologies in advance for sharing something that contains offensive language but a timely reminder, from 2016, that lesbians have boundaries and from other social media, I see even the OP recognises this.

It is not transphobic for a lesbian to not want to date a male.

It is homophobic to suggest they should.

It is rape culture to insist that they get over their 'genital hang-ups'.

What kind of fools do Transgender UK and Stonewall take us for?

(My favourite Magdalen video.)

Letsgetreadytocrumble · 01/05/2021 21:48

The word 'cope' in that tweet is just so disgusting.

Rachel McKinnon (or whatever their name is now) is so vile. They were the one who posting the dancing on the grave gif after Magdalen Berns died as well. Oh and not forgetting cheating in the world cycling championships and taking a title from a woman as well.
