It's such a lazy piece as well. He must have written it in 5 minutes, clapped himself on the back for being so progressive, before emailing it over. Without a single thought for women in prisons, refuges, sports etc or concern for young people caught up in this.

MichelleofzeResistance · 22/04/2021 13:46

Without a single thought for women in prisons, refuges, sports etc or concern for young people caught up in this.

The absolute blind naivety is staggering. You wonder if these people have ever met anyone of other cultures, women who have been in refuges, women who have been raped and traumatised, if it even occurs to them any of these issues exist.

Or if it's just that in their opinion the service humany xx type thingies couldn't possibly have sufficient brain power to actually have coherent, valid reasons why this doesn't work, and possibly he could try listening to them instead of head patting?

Naive and overprivileged? Or a misgoygnistic, arrogant twit? I wonder which.

MichelleofzeResistance · 22/04/2021 13:50

I mean you do find those who know all this stuff but just plain don't care because they openly share their belief that someone born male always matters more than anyone born female. And that female people who don't bend their lives gladly around male people deserve exclusion (and kerb stomping and other lovely inclusive stuff).

But generally it's one of those three camps required to believe that equality and inclusion and civil rights isnt something all female people should be allowed unless they make the right noises to deserve it.

Solutions that work for all. It's not difficult. It's really not.

terryleather · 22/04/2021 14:04

Arsewash from a smug fud who probably hasn't thought about the subject for more than two minutes and patronisingly thinks that he knows better than the women and men who've been studying the implications of all this for years.

Alternatively he knows very well but just doesn't care because it doesn't affect him.

Whichever it is, he can do one.

Lottapianos · 22/04/2021 14:12

Cannot be even slightly arsed to read this. Yet another man with zero skin in the game and zero interest in how this issue affects women. Pathetic. Bet he's really proud of himself for writing it too 🙄

I0NA · 22/04/2021 15:00

It’s luxury beliefs.

Zinco · 22/04/2021 15:00

I'm so sick of men explaining why women are wrong. It's equivalent to me as a white woman explaining why racism isn't a problem.

There is actually nothing wrong with a white woman explaining why certain claims about racism are false or exaggerated. It's actually a good thing if that's true; and we should listen to people regardless of the colour of their skin.

The OP article, however, is just wrong in what it says.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 22/04/2021 15:04

Yeah! Gay men understand the fight for equality. Women are just so fucking clueless!

Luxury beliefs indeed!

ArabellaScott · 22/04/2021 15:31

Arsewash from a smug fud

mic drop.

IloveJKRowling · 22/04/2021 16:42

"Women are wrongly scared of thing which harms women" says man whom it doesn't affect and who hasn't bothered to find out why women are scared at all.

It must be so nice being a man who has nothing to lose (other than respect) and can blithely ignore the human rights, opinions and feelings of half of the population. Wanker.

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 22/04/2021 16:53

Fear of the unknown? I think it's the total opposite.

Thecatonthemat · 22/04/2021 17:10

Would love to hear what he says when a TW demands he has sex with them.

Thecatonthemat · 22/04/2021 17:12

Unlikely to happen but the transman scenario might be more apt

DisgustedofManchester · 22/04/2021 17:18

The Times censorship of comments makes it impossible to make any pro trans comments at all on their pages. Its an echo chamber of christian right wing extremism these days.

Even the word "trans" now gets flagged.

Biscuitsanddoombar · 22/04/2021 17:21

“Christian Right wing extremism”

Wait wait I have that on my bingo card!! Grin

Helleofabore · 22/04/2021 17:46

Whoa ho ho! Way to go Biscuits...

It is always hilarious that that one gets flung around. It really does show a lack of imagination and an adversity to the truth.

Igneococcus · 22/04/2021 18:02

My mum would be so pleased if I'd turn religious in my middle age :)

The word "trans" is all over the comments section, so that isn't what is getting your comments flagged.

What the hell are you on about? Any fair minded, reasonable person of any or no religious belief can see how women and girls need their safe spaces and boundaries. Away grow up
LizzieSiddal · 22/04/2021 18:51

Loved Marion’s comment. Nail on head and it ended the article. Hope Cummings had read it.

R0wantrees · 22/04/2021 18:54

Are you disgusted in Manchester New Hampshire rather than the city of the same name in NW of England? There is no 'christian right wing extremist' bogey man in UK, claiming it exists will not bring it into being.

It’s reassuring at least to see the vast, vast, vast majority of comments criticising the article for the piece of mansplaining BS it is

Typical of The Times, they'll write pro trans content, but refuse pro trans comments.

Keeps everyone on their toes.

BettyFilous · 22/04/2021 19:20

Calling Alan’s article facile would be too kind. It’s woeful. What a pile of steaming shit.

GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman · 22/04/2021 19:30

Well, he gets an award for clueless, patronising twaddle.

It would be so fucking lovely if men would stop telling some what to think.
