Though I wonder if the Facebook person is a secret terf as it makes it clearer this is a male despite the female pronouns.

Call me cynical, but organised murderers are a thing. They plan on meticulous detail the act, how to conceal it and when and where to get caught. Surely it's not beyond the realms of possibility to suggest that an individual might introduce the idea of them being a woman before the act, so they control coverage, sentencing and even where they are housed. It is not transphobic to suggest criminals may be motivated by exactly that, it's actually trying to separate law abiding Trans people from opportunistic criminals.

UnderHisAye · 12/04/2021 13:27

I just started a thread about this too!

I think the fact that the middle name still being used is male shows how much she gives a fuck, and is laughing at everyone involved. It's the easiest new way to say 'it wisnae me'.

GNCQ · 12/04/2021 18:08

A teenage girl who downloaded a toddler rape video and researched murdering babies has been allowed to walk free from court.

Sorry, but no.

We're supposed to be "pregnant people" these days. Surely this title should be "teenaged person who downloaded..."

Sorry I'm not having it.

UnderHisAye · 12/04/2021 18:11

Good point @GNCQ

FlyPassed · 12/04/2021 18:27

Such a good point @GNCQ. If the words 'women' and 'girls' are so offensive and exclusionary when applied to 'vulva people', why are they not offensive and exclusionary when applied in cases like this?

He. We are under no obligation to use female pronouns to men who fantasise about raping babies children or women.

He. He is a sick paedophile

Wandawomble · 12/04/2021 18:50

@Shizuku do you think we should this person a teenage girl?

So true. It seems the terms woman and female are OK when applied to criminals.
EmbarrassingAdmissions · 12/04/2021 18:59

tbh, I wouldn't be confident that the casual reader would interpret that to be a middle name rather than a double-barrel name. - Additionally, it's not uncommon in Scotland for some people to take their mother's original family name as the middle name.

Clymene · 12/04/2021 19:09

The reporting guidelines aren't fit for purpose. This is a bloke who doesn't have a GRC (because he's only 18) and yet the capture of our press means that we effectively have self ID.

It's disgusting that sick fuckers like this bloke are called teenage girls. I know FairPlay for women are trying to do something about it but the fact that we're even in this place where sexually sadistic paedophiles can dictate their pronouns is sick.

Incidentally, Denen hasn't changed his name. It's the name on his birth certificate

Personally I reckon that "dirty nonce" is a suitably gender-neutral term which works in this case.
WendyTestaburger · 12/04/2021 19:24

You never hear a peep from trans activists (who are not necessarily trans people) about this stuff. Why aren't they furious that so many people seem to be appropriating trans identities for nefarious means?

UnderHisAye · 12/04/2021 19:27

I've emailed the editor to ask on what basis they're reporting this person to be female, as they clearly have no GRC and are male. I'm interested to see the response, although I assume it'll be some whitewash crap.

GNCQ · 12/04/2021 19:47

Yes unfortunately it's Scotland isn't it. Our equivalent of woke r us Canada.

Ravenclawsome · 12/04/2021 19:54

Unfortunately the issue seems to be the IPSO guidelines. Individual news sites don't seem to have a choice in this.

It needs folk to challenge IPSO on this.

The IPSO guidelines are not fit for purpose.

It's absolutely absurd to let criminals dictate how they're referred to. And I know it's supposed to be about relevance but this is absolutely relevant. As is any behaviour which is sexually motivated.

It's just as relevant when for example a transwoman is complaining about not being able to access sex shops on the train WiFi. This is male behaviour and it has nothing to do with women. It don't have to be crime far; it's about misleading the public about male and female behaviour patterns.

The only time I can see it's irrelevant is if the news story is about who grew the biggest dahlias or won the prize for the best cake in the village show. Or being a victim of a burglary or something.

Yes, just as you should call Angela Allen and Vanessa George women.

AdHominemNonSequitur · 12/04/2021 20:42

@shizuku. How do you know she is female?

Mugginyouleftrightandcentre · 12/04/2021 21:18

@Shizuku what's your point? That women do it too? Yes we know women do it too, we can see this when we look at the statistics. The statistics that say that over 98% of sexual crime is perpetrated by males and just under 2% is perpetrated by females, with nearly all of these involving a male as well (Colin Blanchard being 'the hub of the paedophile wheel' in the Plymouth case).

Yes, women do it too, Vanessa George and Angela Allen come into that 2% category. Which category does Denen Anderson come into?

Also, this.

It's fucking ridiculous, people tie themselves up in knots to avoid using the words 'girl/woman' for fear of offense..... Except when talking about a male wanting to rape babies, then the word 'girl' is perfectly appropriate?

Fuck off.

Why are people tagging someone who hasn't made a comment in this thread?

LiveLuvLaugh · 13/04/2021 08:40

@GNCQ I think the "pregnant people, uterus haver" brigade advocate these as collective terms not to be used when talking to or about individuals.

Ravenclawsome · 13/04/2021 11:00

This - from the head of the paper's courts team (according to his bio) - is telling. Suggests they want to report the sex but can't unless the judge specifically states the fact in court

He. These are not our crimes.
